DH & I are considering taking our first WDW vacation with kids. We're not sure if it would be better to take them this year or wait a year. If we go this year they will be 3 1/2 and 16 months, which would make them 4 1/2 and 27 months next year. For those that have taken your kids at these ages, which would you do? I was thinking it would be easier next year, but have begun thinking it may just be more challenging keeping up with two. Currently my 1 year old doesn't walk.

Any advice?

I went at both times.. and both had lots of memories.. ofcourse the best for my little girl was 4 1/2.. but I say go twice!:lmao:

That's a tough one, remember you're posting this on the Dis boards, most of us are crazy, rabid, disney fans:jumping1: I would probably go with wait a year. Only because your 1 year old is not walking yet and even though she/he will probably be in the stroller alot, I think it may be easier if they could both walk. Good thing about them being this age is that you can take them during the slower months and not worry about missing school.

Actually I teach, so I will be going during the peak season either way. We won't be able to go both years, we want to try to do WDW once when they are preschoolers, once in elementary years, once in middle school years and once again before they graduate. (That's the plan anyways)

Any one else have advice based on experiences with their children?

I say go now..it will actully be easier since the baby isn't really walking yet..lol
You could always get a back carrier like an Ergo , or Beco..that way you wouldn't always have to worry about a stroller.
We have 3 Daughters (5,4 and 16 months) and have been going at least twice a year since my 5 yo was 8 months. It is so much fun!!!

My DH and I took our son for the first time when he was 2 1/2. It was the perfect age!! He was awestruck by everything! (Then of course, the week after we got home he decided he was done with pullups... couldn't have done that before our vaca so I wouldn't have had to lug a diaper bag!! but that's a different story....)
We took him back when he was 5 and our DD was 18 months (walking). I was hesitant to take her at such a young age (hadn't planned on going until she was at least 2 like my DS was), but our in-laws planned a grand gathering, so off we went. Again -- absolutley wonderful. There are so many magical memories that we have from the trips when they were so little.
I took the kids back this past October (ages 6 and almost 3). It's still great, but definately different. When my DS was only 5, he started to point out things..."hey mom -- see Pooh? see that zipper down his back!! I told ya!" They just get so smart so early -- my advice is GO. And go next year too if you can pull it off. Take advantage of the specials that are out there. And your kids are small, so no need to spend lots of xtra $$ on the more pricey hotels. Stay at the All-Stars, the kids will love it - and it'll be cheaper, so maybe you could save some $$ and take them back next year.
If you're like any of us.... you'll be hooked and you'll be planning next year's trip before this year's trip is over!
