Gnomies Gone Wild

Awww, that is sad. I hate the end of books. That is how I felt about the last Lady Emily book.

I haven't heard of that book, what is it about exactly?

From what I can gather from the book description, it is a retelling of Hamlet in rural Wisconsin. The main character, Edgar Sawtelle, is a mute. It was one of Oprah's Book Club picks which always frightens me because her book choices tend to be on the depressing side. ;)

Ehhh...I think I'd skip it. Doesn't sound like a fun read to me.

Have you ever read any Marian Keyes? Or the Confessions of a Shopaholic series?

They are light fun reads, I love them.

I read Watermelon by Marian Keyes and now I'm reading Rachel's Holiday. Like you, I'm waiting for my requests to come in at the library. :rotfl:

Or have you read Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin? That is good. It's actually being turned into a movie.

I have read all of Emily Griffin's books and the Shopaholic series -- I liked them all. I will have to write down Marian Keyes -- it seems like there was something I read years ago by her, but I can't remember which one is was.

Did any of you see the movie Dear John? My word, I just watched it and I am a weepy mess. :sad1: That Nicholas Sparks guy writes some tear jerkers!

Hi, C! Nope, I had a friend that made me read A Walk to Remember, and I vowed never to read or watch any of his stuff ever again.

I don't blame you! Not sure what happened in this guy's childhood but he seems incapable of what I'd call a happy ending!!

How very true! I would like to see the one they just made into a movie with Greg Kinnear and Miley Cyrus -- The Last Song, maybe, since it was filmed on Tybee Island here in Georgia, but I am sure it ends all sad, too. :sad2:

That's on my list too but after tonight I'm not sure I can handle it! I'll have to save that for when I feel like I need a good cry.

Sigh.

They are such great books. The Notebook is an excellent book. See, sometimes I like his books because I'm in the mood for a good cry. Dear John irritated me, and C if you didn't like the movie ending you'd hate the book one, it was even worse.

I read the book based on the Miley Cyrus movie and it was one of my favorites of his.

So, on the grandmother front I decided to be the bigger person....I am not responding to my grandmother at all because I think that will drive her nuts. I've also deleted my cousin from my friends (I'm not friends with my grandmother). I don't need her drama. Of course she posted some misspelled comment about how she hates jealous people and their comments. Riiiiight. I'm sure it was directed to me and I don't care. I also know my grandmother has been on facebook today because she wrote to my cousin. I'm sure they were waiting around all day for a reaction.

CP....you have to see The Notebook....that is a good one!!! ;)

Hey gang....sorry I have been so quiet for so long...it has been a busy mess around here!! :) Megan is doing well with the cast so far, but still is struggling with all the things she can't do on vacation. The beach, the pool, the ocean are all pretty much out. We can probably sit in chairs on the beach if her arm is covered and it isn't too windy, but that isn't going to entertain a 6 year old too long at all!!! Now personally, I could sit and read all day, but I know that is just me! ;) She said the funniest thing the other day...."Daddy, I know what I want to do when I get my cast off!!! I want to go to MICKEY'S HOUSE! I can do everything there!" :) And shockingly enough....NO, I did not prompt her to say that! She came up with that one all by herself!!! I am just sitting back crossing all fingers and toes that he gives in and we either head down there either the second week in August which he has off, or Thanksgiving week. I need some MAJOR pixie dust!!! I am just in such Disney withdrawal right now! I want to be making my packing list for WDW, not OBX!!!! :)

:wizard::wizard: Here's some pixie dust Jen :wizard::wizard:

Leslie...good for you for being the better person and I bet it drove them absolutely insane you didn't say anything!!!

Well we made it to Michigan last night, I finally slept more than 5 hours in 5 days!!! I bought the first Lady Emily book and am going to sit out in the 70 degree no humidity (boy was that a change) and read it! I also picked up a book called Darcy's Story, which is Pride and Prejudice from his perspective, thought it would be fun!!

So on my front I have a job and we have the house ready and up for rent...here's hoping for more pixie dust our way!

It's really killing me not to say anything but I know this is more effective.

Did you start another book today?

I know -- it's hard not to retaliate.

Nope, I haven't quite finished East of the Sun yet -- today, I am sure I will be finishing it since I only have about fifty pages.

I'll keep the Notebook in mind, Jen!

Poor Megan! It will be hard not to do the pool, ocean, and beach at OBX -- after all, that's what the majority of the vacation is all about. I hope Tom decides his baby girl needs to celebrate her cast coming off, and you head down to Disney in August or November.

I know what you mean about Disney withdrawals -- that is exactly how I felt when I was trying to plan the Hilton Head trip.

Oh, the weather sounds lovely there!!!

Good Morning Gnomies!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually have nothing on the radar "to do" today......but I am sure it will still be filled with cleaning, laundry, and whatnot!!!! That just sounds so unfun!!!!! I need to dust and vacuum all over and clean my bathroom, but am SERIOUSLY lacking the motivation. :( The funny thing is that normally I would have suitcases out and be in the midst of a huge packing list for vacation, but this year, that even sounds like a chore! I KNOW....SO UNLIKE ME RIGHT?!?!!?!?!? I think that is a perfect reflection of how I am feeling about this one! Hoping everyone is having good Thursdays so far!

Jen, enjoy your beautiful weather and relaxation up in Michigan....you so deserve it!

Morning, Jen! I need to clean the house today, too, but that may get pushed to tomorrow. I hate cleaning so much!

Just remember any vacation away is still a vacation! It may not be Disney, but you will still have fun hanging out with your family, and you will get to eat fabulous seafood!!!
