Gnomies Gone Wild

I love that idea too!! Europe is a good 5 hours ahead so at 7pm you can be saying happy new year with some fish and chips or french onion soup...

Ooh...I love that idea Jen!! That would be such a fun party idea. Pick 4 or 5 countries in consecutive time zones and have a progressive dinner so to speak

I think that would be fun too!!!! MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM........C that sounds like a divine menu!!!!

Just an FYI since I know so many of you are waiting for it, the next update is up on my TR. Enjoy!!!

Hi Ladies!!

Yes...I succumbed:rolleyes:

I couldn't stand the idea of you all celebrating my bday without me:rotfl2:

My DVC ressie confirmed today Sun Oct 17-Thurs Oct 21 in a value studio at Jambo house... only a sweet little 36 points! I MAY do room only ressie Sat nite (too many points) and come Sat...I'll decide that later. Half the value rooms are Savanna view.... which I requested.... but I won't know about that til I check in.

I figured it out.... and the trip will only cost Airfare (hopefully less than $150), the extra nite room(if I go that route), and Food. I'm thinking that I deserve it... since I have to turn 37 and all.....;)

I'm going to wait til we get backin Feb to add the new ticker.

I have you ALL beat for NYE:rotfl2:
We are going to go see Alvin and the Chipmunks....
Then go play 'Glo-golf' (it's an indoor glow in the dark put-put)
THEN we will go to Chuck-E-Cheese!

Doesn't that sound like fun??? for someone???? besides me:rolleyes:

Obviously it will be an early nite(home by 6??)... so I'm all up for CHAT!

BTW...I LOVE the idea of the progressive dinner! I wish I was that motivated!

Paula, you night sounds like fun. I want to come!

WOO HOO on booking a trip when we'll be there!!!

Why do I torture myself by watching the food network?????

I just watched an episode of throwdown where they were mixing cocktails and they sounded SO yummy that I had to make myself a margarita. Now I'm watching a coconut cake throwdown and wishing I had a slice of my Mom's AWESOME cake!! It was frequently my birthday request...man I could go for a slice right about now!

Maybe I'll eat another clementine and pretend :sad2:

Good Evening Gnomies!

No big plans for NYE here! My family is still herefrom IN so we're just spending the evening at my auntie's house. Chomping on finger foods and playing with my neice and nephew. We'll probably all sit around playing cards and board games. It won't be a late night since we're hosting a surprise party for my auntie's birthday on the first of january. Paula, your plans sound fun!

Speaking of you Paula, I don't know if we will overlap in October. I put the ticker for October 1 since we don't know exactly when we'll be there yet. My cousin Tim is a teacher, but he's likely to get promoted in the spring, so we have to wait and find out when his fall break will be. But who knows!:goodvibes

Do any of you guys know much about renting DVC points? Is it cheaper than booking a villa at a regular rate? That seems to be the rumour!:confused3

Anyhow, if I don't get on tomorrow, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!:woohoo::yay::thumbsup2:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

:woohoo: I just made my first ADR online!! Yay Chef Mickey's! I feel like I'm so late in doing this but I'm glad I got what I wanted!

We did this last year (gee, in 2 days I'm going to have to start saying in '08 instead!) Prices vary a bit, usually as expiration time gets closer, members will drop their per point rate. If you want the security of knowing a ways out, you can usually get it for $10 per point. You can go to the points chart (click on "resorts" above and find the link to DVC) you can then find out how much your stay will be, multiply by 10 and that will give you the cost.

Keep in mind that Fri/Sat nights are A LOT more expensive than Sun-Thurs. We ended up with a studio for $90/night which was a great deal but that went up to $230 for the Friday night stay :scared1:

So yes, you CAN get a much better rate than booking a DVC room through Disney if you can avoid the weekends.

There is a rental forum on the Dis where people list their points available which is actually how I first joined this big happy family!

Good Morning Gnomies!!

So what time are we chatting tonight? I need to plan my very busy evening.....:rolleyes1

I may be chatting with you all after all.......poor Miss Megs is feeling quite under the weather right now!

Well since I'll be there twice in Oct... That should help increase the odds either way!!

I did some quick points checking for you Stace, just to give you an idea. SSR treehouses sleep 9 people and the weekly point cost...is 251 points (that includes 7 nights with fri and sat)

OKW Grand Villa sleeps 12 and has a weekly points cost of 361 points

soooo

SSR Treehouse.... point cost (at $10/pp) is $2510
full rack rate is $4550

OKW Grand Villa... point cost (at $10/pp) is $3610
full rack rate $9415

granted...you could get a 40% off pin or something.... but the point rental would still be cheaper

I know theres a bunch of you.... but i couldn't remember how many people you needed to house! Katie has a really good point that you could probably find a house cheaper than 4K even with car rentals to get back and forth.

I'm game for whenever.... but I may need a nap.....:hippie:

ohhhh I hope Megs feels better really quick! Allison had strep throat for Christmas :sad2:

I'll stop by the chat room to see if anyone is still there when we get home. Would love to chat with you all!

Well, I finally have a name for a problem I am experiencing! In August I started feeling pain in my chest (on the right side so I didn't worry about a heart problem) I actually thought it was perhaps a cracked rib from riding roller coasters in the Dells because it started the day we left Wisconsin. When it was still bothering me in October I thought I would go have the doctor check it out (my regular doc wasn't in so I saw another one). He didn't think much of it and didn't want to expose me to an x-ray because of course they can't do anything for a broken rib anyways. he told me to take a prescription anti-inflammatory when it was bothering me.

Yesterday it was hurting me so badly Greg made me call and make another appointment with my regular doctor. He had the x-ray done and it revealed nothing. He thinks it is a condition called costocondritis, an inflammation of the cartilidge of the ribcage. I was doing some reading about it this morning and found out it usually goes away within a few months but for some people it can be persistant. I also found out that a pain in the front of the rib can also cause pain in the back of the same rib which would explain why my shoulder has been bothering me too.

So although there is no cure, it does go away in most people and in the meantime, taking the drug for a few weeks should provide me some relief. At least I now know why it hurts!

We're heading out in a bit for our plans for the day (and will hopefully stay warm, high's today is only supposed to be in the teens) here's wishing you all a wonderful new year's eve! Maybe I'll get to chat a bit tonight!

I hope you can chat too! :goodvibes Glad you're able to put a name to the issue. That must at least be a relief. I hope it stops being so persistent in 2010. Have fun today/tonight!

Katie, it's nice you can finally put a name to your ailment. I've never heard of that before. I hope you can chat for a few too! :thumbsup2

Happy New Year, gang. Hoping to chat with you later tonight. :goodvibes

I just heard the stand-by wait for Soarin' is over 200 minutes... can you IMAGINE???? :faint: :scared1:
