Ida came and Ida went....pretty tame for my first and hopefully last forray into all this hurricane/tropical storm nonsense...but it did get Jim down here so I'm not going to complain too much LOL!!!!

Hey girls! OK, I know I shouldn't come to the den of enabling with this but I want your thoughts.

Greg and I had a conversation this weekend which brought up a spring trip to Disney. You know my computer is dying and needs to be replaced. We started shopping for a new one and Greg started to talk about how he would like a mini-laptop that is more portable than the one he has so he can bring it with him to away games and use it on the bus rides. He suggested that if he got one, perhaps I could just have his other laptop as "mine" and not purchase a new one. This began a (somewhat) heated discussion about how many things he gets and I don't. I told him I didn't really care whether I got a new computer or not but if he was willing to spend the money on one if I wanted it, why couldn't I take it and use it for a Disney trip? (I had already put aside about $650 from gifts and other deals we made)

He told me if it was really that important (and it would shut me up about it) then I should go.

I'm torn for several reasons. 1 - I'm not sure if he actually would be OK with me going without me having to hear about it! He will obviously have all of the kids responsibilities (but keep in mind that now that b-ball season has begun, I will be doing most of them myself for the next 4 months!) 2 - I don't know if I will be able to go without making myself feel guilty. In our "discussion" this weekend, he said that a lot of the guilt I feel comes from me, not from him. As I thought that over, I think he is right. 3 - I don't know how the boys would handle me being gone for a week. 4 - just because we CAN make a trip work financially, doesn't mean I SHOULD

If I am going to plan a trip, I should get a jump on it since the ADR window is already open for late April/early May which is when I would be able to go. Is anyone else out there still thinking of a gnomefest trip or have you had enough?

Awww, Katie. I understand your guilt. I think you deserve a trip and you shouldn't feel guilty about that. I think the boys will be just fine without you for a week.

I'm not planning on going this spring and am not sure if anyone else is either.

I was kind of figuring that if I decide to go, I would plan a trip with a friend and hope for some gnomie meets . Since so many of you were just there and planning a return trip, I figured most of you are out.

Yay for a possible Paula meet We'll have to match up dates when they are decided!

Hey Katie! If the december trip falls through then definitely, just not sure on the dates. Even if the december trip works out, we may try and do something small anyway. Keep me posted! And I agree, don't feel guilty either, maybe a small compact relaxing Disney trip is all you need to recharge!

Oh man the weather sucks here! We're at 60 mph gusts, and try working that on the oceanfront. Thankfully 2 of my 4 spots today were under hotel registration roofs, but the other 2...1 was in a parking lot and the other was on the side of the road. I seriously was fighting to walk against the wind. They opened up the flood gates in downtown Norfolk (thankfully that doesn't effect me for the rest of the week) and they're saying, "We're just below Hurricane Isabelle status winds...don't expect to see the sun until sunday....if you're lucky!" Damn...this is going to be an interesting and soggy rest of the week!

Gnomies, I'm exhausted. But I'm so exhausted that I can't go to sleep yet, if you know what I mean.

Marc is not being a good patient. He's trying to do way too much. I keep having to scold him. I keep telling him that I know best, I tried to do too much at first and I paid for it for days. Do husbands ever learn that wives always know best?

I finally convinced him to go to bed at 9PM...he hadn't slept since last night and he was exhausted. Trying to fight it and stuff, he fell asleep on the couch and I coaxed him into bed. I haven't heard a peep since!

Hi gnomies!

How is everyone? Hope you are all enjoying your weekend! Quick movie recommendation - I watched The Proposal this weekend and loved it. Adorable! Also saw the Ugly Truth but didn't love it. I am fighting off a cold/flu so have been couching it all weekend.

Question for you guys -- does anyone have a good system for organizing coupons so that you actually have them with you and remember you have them when you shop? I feel like I'm throwing $ away every week but don't have a good system so I cut them and then they sit on the counter until they expire. I think I'll check out the budget board too to see if they have any recommendations.

Hi C!

I loved The Proposal too. It was so cute. We watched The Ugly Truth this weekend too, I liked it. We also watched Eagle Eye and Adventureland, both were really good.

I don't have a coupon system at all. I wish I was better at shopping with coupons too but don't.

Hey C, I'm nursing a cold too but the rest of the family makes it hard to take it easy sometimes. Greg was gone much of yesterday to a basketball scrimmage and is out running "man errands" today (that would be the home improvement store ) That leaves the boys to me. Luckily, right now they are outside happily raking leaves and jumping in them.

I really want to see The Proposal!

I'm not sure it's much of a system but I have a small coupon organizer (about the size of a checkbook) that I just keep in my purse. It has dividers so things are categorized somewhat (dairy, meat, canned goods, frozen goods, etc) I also make sure each category is arranged by expiration date.

When I make my grocery list, I glance through to see which ones will expire soon and add those things to my list so I don't forget to pick them up. I also put coupons I plan to use in the front of the organizer so they are easy to grab. Sometimes if I am waiting in line at the store, I will quickly thumb through to see if I overlooked any coupons for items in my cart.

I hate being sick when I have things to do. How are the gnomies this lovely Monday morning? Did everyone have a nice weekend?

I had a Disney nightmare last night. In the dream I went ahead and went in Dec and stayed at the WL. It was awful- a flea bag motel with an elevator that didn't work and dirty rooms. I woke up wondering if that was a sign I shouldn't go.

You can tell I'm stressed when even Disney turns on me in my dreams!!

My Monday was hectic. We rolled out a new system at work, it was non-stop all day. This is the first time I'm signing on the DIS all day!

Oh C, when is your December ressie? Did you see that AllEars is giving away 10 pairs of tickets to an Illuminations viewing party? I think it was Dec 13. You just register for the drawing if you will be there that night.

Hurrah, Katie! That is the best news I've heard in a very long time. I'm so happy for you! I'm not sure if I'll be able to in the spring (my work situation is a bit up in the air) but I'll certainly keep it in mind. It would be awesome!
