Julez, my supervisor later in the day told me that he had seen the biology dept head at lunch and mentioned to him that I might be a good person for that job (I'm wondering if he thinks if he can help me find a job, that he won't have to be faced with having to hire me back. Or maybe he's just not too bad of a guy afterall. I don't really care what his motivation is!)

Last night I talked with one of Greg's co-workers who is the local teacher working with the Science Bound program (the job at the other university I have applied for) She told me that the program director returns from vacation on Aug 14 and she has a meeting with her on Aug 15 and will find out more info about the job and try to push my name to the forefront of the applicants

C, glad you arrived safely, can't wait to hear about your trip! I think you should be bubble gnome (a little champagne reference)

Well, it looks like we will be heading to the dells after all. Greg just feels like he needs a vacation that goes beyone sitting in our relatives backyards. SO we are taking off on Monday after we finish a few odds and ends that require other peoples office hours. we will spend 3 nights in the Dells (2 full days) then head to MI for 4 nights and return next Monday. Julez, did you mail Nobby yet?

Good evening Gnomies!!!

Well I have arrived safely in Kansas, my flights were actually very nice and I have a $300 Travel Voucher to boot!!!! As I was waiting for my flight out of Pensacola to Memphis they offered for 1 person to leave on the earlier flight to Atlanta and make their connection from there. So I went up and asked out of curiosity how much of a delay I would have leaving out of Atlanta. Well the flight out of Atlanta would get me to KC only 25 minutes later...well 25 minutes was definitely worth $300.00!!! So I went on the earlier flight to Atlanta which turned out to be a great decision because the flight in Memphis would end up being delayed and not arriving until noon! I made it into KC about 10:30 where I met up with my dad and we ventured to a nearby sidewalk mall because of course my luggage was on the delayed flight! However myself and my luggage are here now!! YAY!!!!

Hope you hear some good news about a job Katie!!! Keep us informed!!!!

Hey Gnomies!
I hope you're all having a good weekend!
I just got home from seeing The Ugly Truth which was fabulous! It seems I had a pretty good day. Work was fine but it is my last shift there for a week which is strange, though it was exciting because there was a little grease fire in the food court and the whole mall was evacuated! Nothing was damaged and everyone was fine, but we got a little half hour break!

And I got a lovely phone call from my 2 yr. old cousin from Indiana informing me that they are coming on a spur of the moment trip to visit tomorrow until thursday! Yay! I'm so happy because I didn't think I was gonna get to see them again until thanksgiving (ours, not the USA one, but that's still not until October!). I guess poor little Mia has been so sad since our last trip down, that she'll be playing, and then she'll come over to my cousin (her mum), and say "I'm so sad. Where's auntie stacy? Why is she in Canada? Where's Meggie and Kyle-d?" (my other cousins who live here - also, it's actually Kyle but Mia for some reason always puts a d on the end so it rhymes with child). So they're coming up to visit before her husband goes back to work (he's a new principal! - Katie, want me to ask him if there are any opportunities nearby? Would you consider moving to Indiana?)

Also - they're making a TSMM Wii game!?! Oh now I really really want one! I've been thinking about buying one for myself as a new job gift but having been debating over the expense. Perhaps I will ask for it for my birthday and then buy myself just some games (like TSMM and Disney DDR!) Does anyone have a Wii? Thoughts? Opinions? Fave games?

Ok. I just officially cancelled my September flights. Funds for April's flight though!

Oh Juelz - I'm sorry you had to cancel your september flights but April is coming up right around the corner!

And no, you've mixed up my jobs...I know, it's confusing! I have great hours at the fulltime one and simply reminded my F&P manager that I was honest with her from the start and she helped me and encouraged me to get the other job. So, she took my hours off so I could go ahead and fully accept my fulltime position. Today though she went a step farther and took me off the schedule for the last two weeks of august totally...oh well. I don't know what she expects, she would have done the same thing I did. I even bought her a thank you card for giving me a good reference! How's the househunt going? How was Haunting in Conneticut? I saw the original documentary and I hope to see the movie soon!

Hey gnomies!

Everyone must have a lot going on this weekend, very quiet around here. We have basically been crazy getting ready to leave tomorrow. We are headed to the Dells about noon tomorrow (school registration begins at 11:00 so I want to wait until then) We are staying 3 nights in the dells. We found a pretty good deal at a low budget hotel (YEAH, not going for the big time resorts! Cha-ching!!) We got a stay 2, get 1 night free deal that includes tickets to one of the larger water/theme parks. We will also likely hit up the exploratory (Greg's request) and do one of the boat tours (my request) and possibly do the mini-steam train if we have time.

On thursday we will drive straight through to Michigan. We'll hang with the family for 3 days. Probably hit the beach, maybe mini-golf and definitely eat WAY too much food. We'll then drive straight home on Monday.

We will take the laptop with us and I should be able to check in periodically from the hotel. Once we leave for MI, I'll probably be away for a few days. Here's hoping everyone has a great week. I'll miss you guys!!

Has anyone been playing around with the 2010 rates on disneyworld.com? I have been trying to price out a room in the third week of December for Marc & I and it's saying there is no availability that week. Weird, huh? I am so confused. It will let me book a room for the second week but not the third. I don't get it.

Good Morning Gnomies...well believe it or not this early riser woke up only about 30 minutes ago...I couldn't believe the time when I saw it on the clock LOL!! I body must have needed to play catch up because I never usually sleep that late LOL!!!!!

LL...nope haven't started playing with dates in 2010 but I hear the prices of rooms and Dining plans have gone up!!! Hopefully this will mean some great deals...of course I'm keeping my AP LOL!!

Happy Monday Ladies!!! I had a good, busy weekend......trying to soak up the little bit of sun we have had this summer!!!! One day we spent at the waterpark, the other at a local park!!! I think today may be the last day of sun for the week....the rest is rainy and thunderstorms...BLECH!!!!! Things are really cranking up this week...I can feel that school is right around the corner...so many little things going on...I hope they don't interfere with my DISing!!!! Well, I have to go write an update on some news on the trip.......talk to you later!

Good morning from the deck of my hotel overlooking the outdoor "water park" in the Dells. I have to say I was a bit nervous about what this place would look like with the great deal we got on it but other than the beds being much harder than I would prefer, I have to say it's pretty decent! It's not quite the old-style motels (of which there are quite a few still surviving in this town) and it's not as nice as the big-time resorts (think AKL and WL) but for the price and ammenities, I really can't complain!

We got into town pretty late yesterday (had errands that needed to get done yesterday morning so we didn't head out until noon) AND we had to stop at our favorite winery that was on the way but not exactly on the beaten path. We ended up picking up an entire case (seriously, it's been several years since we have been there and we don't know when we might make it there again). We got dinner and took a tour of the town then let the boys hit the indoor pool for a little while before crashing in bed. (You should have seen the burger I had, it was a buffalo burger topped with cheese, bbq, onion straws, bacon, canadian bacon and pulled pork it was totally insane and frankly I ate it in an incredibly random way which left most of the bun and half of the burger (it was a bit dry for my taste) still on the plate when I was done.

Today we are going to check out the amusement side of the mega park we have tickets too (included with our hotel stay), hit up either the exploratory or the boat tour then hopefully be back early enough to do the outdoor pool at the hotel.

Sorry for my ramblings!

Katie...so glad you are having a good time!!! That burger sounded INSANE!!!!

We are having a weird summer...lots of rain, not very warm....they say it is the effect of El Nino...I don't know what it is, but it has been VERY weird!!! I just hope it disappears before winter, or we will be having a VERY snowy/icy one!!!!

Hello, my gnomies!

I have missed you and the DIS! I am seriously addicted! My trip was fun - nice to see family but also somewhat stressful too, if that makes any sense. I am happy to be home. It was great to sleep in my own bed last night and I can't wait to get back there tonight!! ::

I have a couple of pics of Seattle to share with you later but one thing I can tell you now - monorails of either the airport or other variety (Seattle has its own) are no where near as fun without the "por favor" announcement or a Disney destination.

Jen (JJ)- glad to hear your Kansas trip is going well and you're getting the opportunity to rest and relax.

Jen (MM) - school is "around the corner"??? Sssshhhh... I'm trying to block it out. I see you made trip updates so I will have to head over to check that out!

LL- playing with 2010 dates already? Good for you! I wonder if that week isn't up b/c it is so close to holiday and they haven't set the rates yet for that "premiere" time?

CP- hate to ask but how is school going?

Katie - your trip sounds like fun! What winery did you visit? Water parks sound like great fun. And that burger does sound totally insane!

My surgery date is August 26th.

I'm researching rental cars for September. I'm thinking it's a good idea for me to have one so soon after surgery in case I am not feeling well or something. I think I am going to do it. Just trying to work out the budget...hoping that I won't have to cut too much to make this work, you know?

That's smart. Good to have a back up plan and if it will make you more comfortable knowing it's available then I say go for it! Make sure you check Mouse Savers and various other sites for the best deals!
