Gnomies Gone Wild

Got out right before 9!! Woo Hoo!!

How is everyone today?? I'm getting out of work at 12:30 for a doctor's appointment!! I couldn't be happier! :goodvibes

Hurray for both the getting out of class early and the getting out of work early!

I am fine -- heading out in a little bit to go to the library, drop off another load to Goodwill, and getting a couple of things from the grocery store. I have book club tonight so I am looking forward to getting out of the house for some girl time.

Girl time is good!

Marc & my brother are going to a concert on Friday night and I'm so thrilled to have the house to myself on a night that isn't work night. :cloud9:

What concert are they heading to see?

I definitely need some time away from my family. We have been together far too much lately!

They are going to see Phish. Marc has seen Phish more times than I can count. That would be pre-Leslie of course. My brother missed out on the concert last summer that Marc went too so Marc was determined to get them both tickets to this show. Honestly, I don't see the appeal in the music...or the crowd that hangs around Phish.

Me neither, but if it earns you a night of relaxing, it serves its purpose. :rotfl:

Morning girls!

Yay LL for a half day and a night to yourself :cool1: I need to schedule a girls night out. My friend's son is at his Dad's for their summer break visit so we need to schedule something while he is gone!

Yay MM for a possible August trip. Yes it will be hot, yes it will be crowded but if that's what you feel will bring your family joy, I say go for it. How much would you lose if you don't go through with your upcoming trip? I agree that you hate to let go of your deposit but if you will end up spending more money and not feel like it was worth it, maybe losing a portion wouldn't be the worst thing :confused3

CP, I'm with you on the to much togetherness thing! We have the boys scheduled like crazy this summer just to keep them busy. It doesn't leave me a lot of down time but at least I get pockets of time to sit and read my book while they are kept busy by someone else! Also their fighting is reduced because they have their own activities and not spending all their time together

It looks like the Disney cruise isn't going to happen :guilty: They only have the more expensive cabins with the kids cruise free deal and it was going to be 50% more than I originally thought. I looked into the possibility of doing a different cruise line because they are much cheaper but they just don't hold the same appeal. Maybe Greg would consider a family spring break trip to WDW, then that would free me up for my 40th birthday trip as a girls only, maybe Beth and I could try again  (and give me an excuse to buy an AP perhaps...hmmm)

We would lose a little under $900 if we didn't go......but I think we are going regardless. Tom really wants to go on this trip with his "boys," so I would never discourage that. We are bound to go make the best of it! :) BUT, you know what I am going to be bringing up as good driving discussion on the way down there...........;) I am getting more okay with going in August. It is always crazy hot in September, so I don't think it would be that much different. With Tom's FP mastery, we seem to be able to worm our way in and out of the crowds and into the A/C with pretty good ease! PLUS, there would always be the GAC card to help us get out of the heat when only absolutely necessary because the heat does Megan in SOOOOOOOOO much!!!! She has a hard time dealing with the extremes in temps...whether it is the extreme cold or the extreme heat of the sun...it must be OVER-intensified with her sensory condition. I was thinking though and wanted some Gnomie input.......................................

We have traditionally used CS for lunches and saved our TS credits for dinners. BUT, I was thinking it would make more sense to use the TS credits for big lunches----get us out of the most intense heat and the biggest crowds----and enable us to enjoy more of the cooler temps and lower crowds in the evenings. What do you all think?!?!?! Just something I was pondering and wondering if it would make the most sense. Please give me your feedback!

Katie- sorry the cruise isn't happening but glad to hear you are still plotting/planning

CP- did the rain come and break the heat?

LL- hurrah for getting out of work early today! Enjoy the rest of your day!!

I think using your TS credits for lunches makes a lot of sense! I do that quite often, it does wonder for making you feel refreshed to go back into the parks!

WOOT!! Made to Ohio!! We have a conference we are attending until Friday afternoon but at least we are in a hotel room with internet that is all mine LOL!! I'm not good at sharing the computer LOL!!

We had a great time with my inlaws but I'm also in a state of limbo...I really want to get a move on to getting to Texas!

Katie...hope a spring break trip works out for you!!!!

Jen...have a good trip no matter the limitations!!

Jackie...hope it cools down for you soon

LL...have a great time with "me" time!!! I hope to get some Saturday night!

What part of OH are you in JJ?????? I am just south of Cincy.....are we close??!?!?!!

Good morning girls. the weekend is just around the corner!

MM, I didn't realize you had another purpose to your upcoming trip, I can see why you would follow through with your plans in that case (and $900 is a lot to swallow!) In regards to when to use your TS, I think if you like the lunch menus equally (most TS I think don't have the same offerrings) and you are not focused on getting the most for your money, then TS for midday is a great idea. Get to the parks at RD, do what you can, grab FP's as you go and stop for lunch around 1. Take a rest or swim break then return in the evening to use your FP's and enjoy the parks in the "cooler" times of the day, grabbing dinner wherever you feel like when the mood strikes. Maximizing your FP's here (which I know you guys are all about!) means no park hopping which would save on your park tickets too!

JJ, what are you doing in Ohio?

Well, interesting tidbit on the job front. The middle school position I applied for and didn't get an interview has been reopened. I don't know if the person who they offered the job to somehow fell through (their name has never appeared in the board notes where they announce such things, which is odd) or if they had another resignation (they have not gotten contracts out yet so it's still possible) I'm not going to get my hopes up with the track record of hiring brand new teachers in this district but I will of course be submitting my application and keep my fingers crossed.

I'm sorry to hear that, Katie! :(

This is kind of what we are doing in July -- out of the five TS meals we have planned, three of them are lunches (well, one of them is a "brunch"), but I figure that will get us into the air-conditioning during the hottest part of the day.

This was great, C! Thanks!

Have fun in Ohio, Jen! I don't think the heat will break until October.

Good Morning Gnomies!!!! I hope everyone is having a wonderful Thursday....mine is VERY quiet right now!!! Megan is at VBS, I don't have the girl I babysit on Tue and Wed, my house is clean, laundry pretty much done, and nothing I need to be doing at the moment. Isn't it funny that I almost don't know what to do?!?!?!?! :lmao:

I have a few pics I wanted to post here for you all of our beautiful ballerina!!!

Here she is at the house before we left in her tap outfit---minus the shoes of course!

And this is the face I am getting from Max as I am sitting here working on the computer.....AWWWWWWWWW

What adorable pictures of Megan!!! Love her costume!!!

Max is too funny! :rotfl:

I have moments like that, too, when I actually have free time and don't know what to do with myself.

I just spent some of it in the never-ending limbo of voice mails and automated phone services trying to call the State to answer some questions about getting my teaching certificate renewed. BLEGHH!!!!! I know it is the summer, and this is their busiest time of the year, but can't they just have at least one human being manning the phones to answer questions!??!!??! I am sure even though I left a message with all my phone numbers on it that I won't hear from them for weeks!!!!! I think the whole recertification process is a joke and a scam!!!! I have a graduate degree for goodness sakes.....I'm pretty sure that means I am qualified to teach....just give me the paper already!!!! ;) I think it is especially frustrating when you have already been certified in this state, and just stopped teaching to take a few years off to stay home with your child.....why make me jump through all the hoops all over again!??!?!!? YUCK!

Okay.....venting over!!! Can you tell I am just a wee bit frustrated!?!?!?! ;)

Hey everyone! I'm in Mentor, OH attending a church planting conference! We head out tomorrow afternoon to head back home! Where I will have a couple of days to pack before I have my Texas Teacher Examinations that I have to PASS...so please be in prayer about that! If I don't pass I don't get the job so this is a big deal!!! I have been doing a lot of studying!

Jen..Megs looks SO CUTE! You're right you will have to lock that one up someday!! Her dancing outfit is just so pretty!

MM Megan looks so cute! I'msure she had a fun time. My DDs love recital time:cloud9:

I was thinking about megs beach dilemma.... did you stop by a medical supply store?? I know that ours carries a latex tube (for lack of a better word) to cover casts to keep them dry. I doubt she could swim (per se) with it, but it would work to play in the shallows and not get water/sand in it. It fits pretty snug, but I don't remember the brand name. I think it was only around $25... but it would make your beach trip better :)
