Gnomies Gone Wild

Good luck with everything Jess!

And thanx for the well wishes and thoughts girls! It looks like one of Jim's job leads is gonna pan out and he will start Monday if so....still crossing the fingers though it really happens!

Hi, everyone. Thanks for all the pixie dust! We'll see how everything pans out. At this point, I am taking it one day at a time. I am not ready to relinquish the idea of a summer trip completely.

Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday! I am sooo looking forward to the weekend. It's been a rough week.

Julez- wow, that is the quickest job search in history. That's terrific!!

Jess- good luck with all the school stuff.

CP- I second the TGIF motion. Definitely a rough week.

MM- have fun with all your March Madness guests

JJ- good luck with the yard sale.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!! 70 degrees here and I'm loving it!!! :yay:

Creeping towards 70 degrees here, too. I am very excited about that.

No exciting plans this weekend -- just taking one of the dogs to the vet since he has a couple of hot spots and hoping it won't cost an arm and a leg. :headache:

YAY its Friday!!

Well my weekend is going to be pretty busy! I have a volunteer service project I'm helping my students with Saturday morning from 7:30 - 9:30 and then I have to get my house ready for my teens from church who will be coming over as part of the progressive dinner activity we are hosting! It's a little sad for me because its our last one with the teens and then we'll be stepping back from being sponsors and letting the new ones dive right on in!

Sunday is church day!!

I'm hoping to begin organizing and pricing for the garage sale sometime inbetween and hopefully get my nails done!

Hope all goes well at the vet Jackie!!

Enjoy the great weather C!

Hi everyone! Sounds like the weekend has seen things get a little better! I hope everyone's pixie dust levels stay up!

Juelz - Sounds like the job lead was meant to be!

CP - I bet something will work out. Think of happy thoughts!

Jess - good luck with everything and congrats on your raise!

Everyone have a fabby Saturday! And Jen, have fun with those boys and their March Madness! :)

OK. Totally random. Don't ask.

But what do you think the most romantic restaurant in World Showcase is?

Just in case I were ever to need that piece of info... :rolleyes1

My vote would be one of the French restaurants or maybe San Angel? Maybe Le Cellier? Tough call!

You know I am dying to ask.

Good suggestions, CP!

Nothing to tell really. You know me and my precautionary measures. This is just in case... :upsidedow

I was hoping it might pertain to a trip in say....I don't know...6 weeks or so

Oh, and I would say one of the France restaurants too but LeCellier and Tutto would also be nice. (Wigd said on my PTR that they liked Bistro)

Duh! How could I forget Tutto??? Charles and I had such a lovely, romantic dinner there and then, I forget about it when asked for a recommendation. I think I will blame encroaching old age.

Oooh la la!! ;) I say avoid Les Chefs...don't want you oogling the waiters. :rotfl2: I'd think Le Cellier might be awkward because the tables are so on top of each other...at least the ones I have sat at.

Rose & Crown for Illuminations would be quite nice. I like the sound of Tutto as well.

Okay Gnomies...I just finished reading a book today. My 29th of the year... :rolleyes1 I clearly need a life.

"The Immortal life of Henrietta Lacks" by Rebecca Skloot.

It's an amazing non-fiction book. I don't know how to really describe it but I read it in less than two days. I'm not a science buff by any means but it was clearly written and easy for me to understand everything.

Here is the review from Amazon.

Science journalist Skloot makes a remarkable debut with this multilayered story about faith, science, journalism, and grace. It is also a tale of medical wonders and medical arrogance, racism, poverty and the bond that grows, sometimes painfully, between two very different women—Skloot and Deborah Lacks—sharing an obsession to learn about Deborah's mother, Henrietta, and her magical, immortal cells. Henrietta Lacks was a 31-year-old black mother of five in Baltimore when she died of cervical cancer in 1951. Without her knowledge, doctors treating her at Johns Hopkins took tissue samples from her cervix for research. They spawned the first viable, indeed miraculously productive, cell line—known as HeLa. These cells have aided in medical discoveries from the polio vaccine to AIDS treatments. What Skloot so poignantly portrays is the devastating impact Henrietta's death and the eventual importance of her cells had on her husband and children. Skloot's portraits of Deborah, her father and brothers are so vibrant and immediate they recall Adrian Nicole LeBlanc's Random Family. Writing in plain, clear prose, Skloot avoids melodrama and makes no judgments. Letting people and events speak for themselves, Skloot tells a rich, resonant tale of modern science, the wonders it can perform and how easily it can exploit society's most vulnerable people.

Oh and CP, I have a book title for you. I thought of you while I was reading it.

"The Lady of Milkweed Manor" by Julie Klassen. It's not the best book ever written but I really enjoyed it and requested two more titles by Klassen from the library.
