GMC Terrain?

Anyone who has one care to share if they like it?

DH is considering one, but it looks a little small to me. I would choose the Arcadia OR move away from GMC altogether for a 4runner or a Pilot.

I'd love to hear opinions of all those or any other fullsize SUV.

TIA

We actually just did this search! We ended up vetoing the Terrain (and Equinox, virtually the same car) because the trunk space is a little cut off because of where the tires cut in. My top two choices were the Toyota Highlander and the Kia Sorento. The Toyota had a really cool feature in that you could remove the middle seat in the 2nd row to make getting to the 3rd row super easy. That was literally its only selling point above the Kia, and the Kia was a much better choice with a LOT more features. We've had it since Monday and are thrilled with our decision. We have fought over who gets to drive it every day!

We seriously looked at the Highlander, Acadia, and Pilot. We liked the Highlander alot but it was last year when Toyota was having so many recall issues and they actually halted sales a few days after we test drove it, so that took it off of our list. The Acadia was nice enough, my biggest like was the captains chairs in the backseat as opposed to a bench. We had previously had a Tahoe and were just satisfied with it, not in love with it & the dealerships were not making any movements on the pricing at all. I didn't love the feel of the ride either.

We ended up both loving the Pilot which is amazing, since I am 5'3 and dh is a former linebacker at 6'1, so he needs lots of shoulder and leg room & I need very little, but good vision lines with few blind spots. The pilot has a smoother drive imo & lots of nice features. I really like that even with the 3rd row of seats up there is still ample trunk space & they are easily put up and down & when they are down the trunk is HUGE. The cupholders are also awesome (which is key for a big coffee drinker). Can't say enough good things about my pilot!!

We drove an Equinox last winter as a rental when we went to Yellowstone. It felt very small inside. True we had a lot of stuff, but with coats and boots and other winter clothing, it was tight inside the vehicle. Last summer I had a Hyundai Sante Fe for a trip from Spokane to Oregon, Washington and Montana and it was great. A lot more comfortable. I would consider buying a Sante Fe and we usually get Toyota Siennas.

We have a Highlander Hybrid and I really like it. My son drives it most of the time and will probably take it to college.

Thanks for all the answers!

We had a Highlander in the past and we were very unhappy with Toyota service - we had an independent garage confirm oil gel problems in our car (part of a class action lawsuit against certain Toyota and Lexus models) after bringing it to the dealership for YEARS because it was burning oil, but Toyota refused to acknowledge the problem and suggested we do a 3k$ engine rebuild at our expense to fix the problem (on a 9yo car). We would not buy Toyota again, even though the new Highlander does look nice.

We really like the Pilot our friends have had for years - it's good to hear an endorsement for it.

We haven't looked at the Sorrento but maybe we should.

Deb and Bill - you hit my worry right on the head - I don't want to get a "smaller" SUV and then feel like a bunch of sardines if we ever want to take a driving vacation.

DH went out this morning to look in person at the Terrain and the Acadia, and also the Ford Explorer. I'll see what he reports back.

If anyone else has comments about their mid/full-size SUV, I'd still love to hear them!

I also drive an '06 Ford Escape Hybrid at work sometimes. It rides kind of like a truck, but I do like it.

Our Highlander rides like a car. We tried out a 4Runner and it rode like a truck.

We love our Terrain. Bought one of the first ones out, over a year ago.
Have the 4 cylinder, and the gas mileage is super.
The back will hold 3 people, also the seat will fold down. Or the second seat will slide all the way up to make trunk space for hauling.
Certainly, not a huge car, but we have received many compliments on the look. Hope you buy American.:)

Also looking into buying a new SUV. Curious to see what other say. Currently, I am interested in the Sorento, but open to other options.

I know this may sound strange, but check the tire sizes. My sister-in-law has an Acadia and it uses a weird size tire that can only be ordered and is expensive on top of taking a while to get. We ran into the same thing with my husband's Chevy Colorado. I think it is a GM thing.

I love my Pilot. I got the 2011 brand new a month ago and have loved every second of it! We are about to have our third child and all three carseats will fit in the middle row! There is a variety of ways to install the carseats which is important to us. Also, there is plenty of legroom in the middle and back seats. I love it and plan on having it for a long time!
