Gluten-Free, Soy-Free, Vegetarian Dining Review

The Wave was that bad? Yikes! That was one of our favorites before I got sick..... Bummer. Now I'm a little worried about that. :scared:

I already sent in my special diets form. I wonder if it's too late to switch that out..... or should I just hope for a different Chef?

Also, since I'm new at this - when you get someone that clueless, do you / can you just ask for another person? I get so sick, I don't want to take any chances, esp. on vacation!

We got rained out from our Chefs de France earlier this year...after seeing that picture I'm pretty happy about that rain!

I was REALLY disappointed with the Wave and Chefs de Fance. Coming back and reading a LOT of reviews like mine has reinforced the fact that we won't go back to either of those places. You MIGHT want to make another ADR and update your special diets form. We did that, oh, 3 or 4 times and it was just fine. We also printed off cards with our dietary requirements that we gave to the chefs to take back to the kitchens with them. The salad we got at the Wave was completely safe for us to eat, but not very tasty. I love salads just as much as the next person.... but the lettuce was all bitter/spicy lettuce that I'm sure would have been good with some sort of salad dressing... but we were hesitant to ask for any because the chef didn't really 'get' the fact that we couldn't have gluten or soy (or nuts for DH). So, the lemon wedge it was.

Luckily, the majority of the restaurants we ate at the chefs were AWESOME! They get a lot of training. Where are the rest of your ADR's??

Right?! We were like "you have GOT to be kidding".... never again. We'll go to La Hacienda instead- that chef was AWESOME. And the food was the best of the trip. :cloud9:

We are 7, ages 65-9. New to Severe Gluten, Dairy & Peanut (previously milder peanut, got worse with Gluten & Dairy), some things I do in moderation (soy, tomatoes, legumes) But definately NOT new to Disney dining. I made all the choices based on positive GF/DF reviews on the web, the menus inherent suitability & appeal across all our age groups & tastes.

I did not see any negative reviews of The Wave elsewhere, but I'll do a search here. I didn't think to come over to this board- I was just googling.

Do you have other Non- Park recommendations that have a good rep here that would be available with this short a time left? DH, DS & I are usually Signature diners & don't mind that, as long as they have nice kids choices too. I'd love any input you all have.

TIA!

SD, I couldn't believe your "dinners" at Wave and CdF! Madness. I would have complained, too, about the dismal presentation of that 'veggie plate.' That's terrible!

Just a quick note for Leota -- we just had a difficult dining experience at 'Ohana due to a soy allergy. If you are okay eating one soy-heavy meal and avoiding it other times, then you will probably be fine, but it's the only failure of the Disney dining system that I have experienced. Just something to be aware of going in. :)

So sad to hear about the wave not being good for you. I have soy, legume, dairy, latex, birch and nut allergies. If I list it out its long. But wave was one of the restaurants that accomidated me well last year.

Great review! I'm reading over it right now.

I am gluten-free, vegan, and my mom is gluten, dairy, egg, legume (peanut and soy included)-free! I did a detailed post about it, but it is definitely nice to see other experiences, especially because you went to really different restaurants.

I am pleased to see that La Hacienda de San Angel was on your top. Mine, too! But I am very excited because when I went I couldn't have the beans or rice because they weren't vegan (or vegetarian). So I guess they changed it! Yay because I have ADR there!
