DH loves seafood...I don't. We are going to Cape May for dinner so he can eat all the seafood he wants ;) I'm gluten free so will need the chef's assistance.

Will the chef accommodate to my diet and picky eating? Will there be something I can eat thats not seafood?

There's a whole "other side" to the buffet - check the menus on allears.net to get an idea. The chef should be available to come out and point out the gluten free dishes. Being a buffet, you do have to worry about cross-contamination, so an earlier seating might be the best for you!

I'll be trying out Cape May in October GF and dairy free too. I've heard decent things about it. I look forward to hearing what you think after you get back! :thumbsup2

We've eaten there for breakfast a couple times but never dinner. For breakfast, the chefs have been wonderful just like everywhere else. Personally, I wouldn't grab off the buffet at all even if you are dining early. When the chef is showing you what's gluten free, if there's something that interests you then ask if you can have fresh stuff from the kitchen so you can be sure to avoid cross contamination. IMO this is the best way to go at any buffet regardless of when you're there (though we do try to get early seatings partly so the chefs aren't as crazy busy when they're helping us) because even if you're the second person going through the buffet, you don't know if that first person did something like using the bread tongs to grab a bunch of other stuff.

Excellent point! That's why I like Disney buffets, they will make you items off the buffet line that are safe with less worries about cross contamination! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the tip.
Do you find that the chefs are more than willing than not to make you a fresh plate?

Chefs always seem happy to get a plate of fresh food. In general, we don't have them offer but when we ask they always do it with a smile and seem to take pleasure and pride in taking good care of our allergies. Disney really does seem to attract a great bunch of chefs who seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs and helping those with allergies. We've had quite a few chefs who have told us of their own loved ones with similar issues so I think they attract a lot of chefs who have a passion for dealing with food allergies.
