Has anyone ever had a gluten free meal at Victoria & Albert's? Was it worth the cost?

Sadly I got very sick in January before our V&A dinner and had to cancel. When scheduling the dinner it went very well and they assured me that they would take care of me. I had a rather long list of foods I couldn't eat and they were very willing to accommodate every single one. I say it is at least worth a shot.

We just got back on Friday and ate at Victoria and Albert's (in the Queen Victoria room) on Monday evening. DBF is gluten-free and he absolutely loved the meal! They were wonderful and accomodating -- he doesn't feel like he missed anything at all. I think the best part of it wasn't that they simply removed the gluten item in the dish, but that they adapted the entire dish for him -- sometimes, he even got something completely different than I did. It was never the case where he was simply given something without a particular sauce or marinade.

Both of us absolutely think it was worth every penny - we even (briefly!) considered going again during our trip. Now, it's a must-do for us.

That's wonderful to hear! Did you happen to take any pictures? I'm so glad they took such great care of him.

We took a bunch of pictures, but I'm still going through them -- I'll post them later. Here's what he had on his menu:

1. Amuse-bouche (Soft poached quail egg with Galilee caviar, popcorn crusted diver scallop, smoked salmon panna cotta with salmon caviar, buffalo mozzarella)
2. Caviar tin of peeky toe crab with DeSietra caviar and petit herbs
3. Cold "smoked" Niman Ranch lamb with fuji apple and curry dressing
4. King salmon cooked tableside on a heated pink Himalayan salt rock
5. Poulet Rouge with mushroom-truffle ragout and yellow chanterelles
6. Minnesota elk tenderloin with braised red cabbage
7. Blackmore Wagyu beef with oxtail jus
8. Selection of cheese
9. Apple bundt cake
10. I don't have the name of this (they listed my dessert), but it was like a gluten-free trifle wrapped in chocolate
