Gluten allergy

Hi everyone

I have a cruise in April. I already have a note on my end for the gluten allergy.

Is there anything else I have to do? I keep seeing videos on social media where people say they ordered their breakfast the night before? Same with eating at castaway and LP, I’m seeing people saying they are ordering in advance?

I don’t know how I’m supposed to know what to do and what needs to be handled in advance? And how to go about doing that

Any tips are very appreciated!

You reservation is noted. Once onboard you can speak with your assigned Head Server who will inform you of the process. You may be able to pre-order on embarkation afternoon for that night's dinner, but generally you will be pre-ordering each night for the next night.

They both have done many cruises with at least 1 of the party members being gluten free.

Great I will check those out!

I highly recommend making a reservation for palo and Enchante/Remy they will make amazing GF food for you too, better than the main dining. I always go up to the host stand for the two restaurants on the first day and let them know I have an allergy and when I'm dining so they have time to prepare, there are a few Remy items that take a couple days and they need as much advance notice as possible. As others have said in the previous posts your waiter will get your order at the end of the night for your next day's meals. In Cabana's/Marceline market you would let the crew member that is usually wearing the DCL polo with a walkie talkie (they are typically the head servers) that you have an allergy and will walk the buffet line and you can tell them what you would like and they will bring you a plate that they will make in the back for you to avoid cross contamination. There is usually a GF option for all the courses on the sit-down dining menus, so while you will be more limited on your first night, there will be something to easily pick from. Room service also has a list of GF items not on the menu you can get, like cookies and mickey bars. You can't take any food that isn't factory packaged off the ship so make sure you have a few snacks you can bring off the ship depending on your excursions and itinerary, if you don't want to risk eating off the ship. Happy Sailing!

This is great info! Thank you so much!

They will make you GF Mickey waffles too in the morning at the sit down or buffet. I always pack some real maple syrup because they only have the imitation corn syrup kind on the ship. One time we were giving out sample of the syrup to taste to the serving team in charge of cleaning the tables in cabanas when they saw our bottle of maple syrup. They had heard of it but had never had it as it’s not something they had in their country. It was a fun breakfast that day.

We have multiple allergies and they require us to order the night before incl for Castaway Cay. Because it’s 2 kids and a form for food and dessert, the server takes about an hour or more to take down the orders. It’s time consuming but worth it. That said, do carry your EpiPen/AuviQ, Benadryl (Dr. kids has individual dose vials) pedialyte or liquid I.V. You want the allergen to come out as fast as possible but not get dehydrated.

We’ve had a few mild cross contamination reactions causing acute stomach cramps and hives (hazelnuts and milk) and Benadryl worked after 30 mins (during rotational dining and at Castaway Cay). I also carry some terramin clay to soothe the hives/itch (calamine lotion doesn’t have packets). By day 5 they usually run out of gluten free rolls.

In addition you can write in GF muffins and donuts on the room service card for breakfast and have those delivered as well!
Do they have vegan muffins? When I’ve called they said they don’t have any allergy free options (never tried writing in on the cards; we usually order coffee fruit and pastries)
