I noticed a thread on glowsticks and bracelets. This is my first trip so please enlighten me. Why do you bring these? Is it for the kids at the parades so you don't need to buy them in the park. Sounds like I should bring them but not sure why.
Thanks
Nancy

We bought some at the dollar store and brought them for the kids (we only have ds who is just a toddler but have brought our nephew and nieces on other trips). The toys they sell during the night time shows and parades are fun but are very expensive so this is just one way to give something fun to the kids without breaking the bank.

HI! Welcome to the DIS!

A lot of people don't want to buy the stuff at parades because it's pretty expensive. One way to give the kids some fun stuff at night cheaply is to buy glowsticks before the trip.

If you go to the dollar store you can pick up bunches of these for a fraction of the cost of what it would be to buy at WDW.

Have fun planning your first trip!

A trinket catalog company, like Oriental Trading Company, has all sorts of glow in the dark merchandise you can purchase VERY cheap as well. These make great favors at birthday parties and if you go camping, these are fun for the kids to break out at night. I also agree that it's alot cheaper to have these to give to your kids as a surprise than to purchase them at WDW. I'm not a cheapskate by any means, but the glow does wear off no matter how much $$ you spend. :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

Ocean State Job Lot or Dollar Store.

Last year I found some for our Cape Cod trip for all the kids (13 of them!) at OSJL for .99 each. I found eyeglasses, sticks & Bracelets. :flower:

My two year old gets a little frightened in dark rides like Pirates and Spaceship Earth so I will give him a glow bracelet and if he's afraid he'll just look down at it. It's his own little light. :goodvibes

I got some last year from www.illuminationz.com for cheap- the 4" glowsticks came in lots of 50 for about $15. DD made lots of new friends each night when she gave them away to kids around us. We will be doing this again this fall- it's a nice (and cheap) way to spread a little Magic.
