Global Warming...

What do you think about Global Warming?

  • Its really serious, we need to do something now!

  • I'm concerned, but not really worried..

  • We really shoudn't worry about it, we should worry about other important stuff..

Ok, I'm just wondering what were people's thoughts about this. The weather here in Chicago is barely starting to get cold. We had 60 - 70 degree weather here in October! And its barely starting to snow tonight but it'll probably turn into ugly slush in the morning, ugh.

Has Global Warming affected your weather?
What are your thoughts about this contreversial topic?
Do you think this is a serious matter that should be taken care of?

I'm not worried.

Honestly, most people on these boards know my feelings about global warming and I don't really feel like repeating it all at almost midnight.

i dont think global warming is true. because God controls all of our weather. if God wants our ozone layer to be destroyed than itwill be. God has a perfect plan for the people of this earth so i ma not worried

I think it's just as real as the trees outside my window. I do, however, think that we're not the sole 100% reason for it. It's a natural cycle, and we're coming out of a sort of mini ice age. I certainly don't think we're helping though, and that we can do a lot more for the environment.

I'm not one of these doom and gloom people. I'm very optimistic. When I get a car I'll be doing work to it to improve it's mileage. When I move out I'll buy fluorescent bulbs until LED bulbs come out. When I get a house I'll be doing everything I can to cut down on my energy costs, and if I live next to a river or something I'd love to have a mini hydroelectric plant.

I dont believe in Global Warming.

My dad told me, every 10 years the tempature rises about 2%

And so global warming will makes its way here in about...a gazillion years.

I told him, well im gonna die before that so WHO CARES!

Let me preface this by Global Warming is REAL. What do you think made all the ice from the ice ages melt?

BUT....

Global warming isn't the issue that its made out to be. People are only freaking out about it becuase they don't understand it. It has happened over and over before, and all we've done is sped it up a bit. We will survive. it will change our lives as we know it, but we can't stop it (trying to may only screw us further) The bulk of the damage has already been done and isn't being done. we can't fix it, we can't stop it. we can just do what has kept us alive this long and adapt.

Were they not just saying that we were going to go into a ice-age, a little bit ago?

...not that i've heard.

think of us as in seasons. we've been in spring for a long time, since the last ice age. now we're coming into summer.

I think that global warming is a thing to worry about, I read that in less than 100 years most of the planet will be underwater if we don't do something, It's time to start making a difference! Walk to places nearby instead of getting someone to drive you! It not only saves energy but you get good exercise. Also did you know that it's cheaper to buy everyone in the country a new energy efficient refrigerator than let us all keep our old ones. I'm not insane, I'm trying to make the world a better place to live in.

Our world has changed SO much in the past 200 years.
And WE have changed it. The Industrial Revoluation changed it.
For THOUSANDS of years the earth and it's inhabitants didn't rely on technology or factories or consumer products, but our world is changing, and because of that, the environment is changing too.

When we put tons of chemicals in the air every year for 200 years, there's obviously going to be a huge change in our climate and in our environment.
But now there isn't much we can do to go back and fix it.
We RELY on those factories and products. There are things we can do to prevent it from getting worse, but we can't change the 'damage' we have already done.

Humans have been adapting to their environments since the beginning of time, I don't think this is any different. Maybe in a couple hundred years humans will have less body hair because they don't need it to keep them warm.

But I don't think the world is going to END over this.

It would be great if everyone bough LED lights, drove hybrid cars, use less electricity and such, to slow down the process a little though.

no. more than 100 years. this is a very slow process.

i am concerned about Global Warming but i believe there's not much we can do about it. Like what's been said, it's just a natural process which has just been sped up over the past 100 years (average temperature has risen by one degree celsius since 1900) due to us discovering electricity (i think...) so we're pumping carbon dioxide and sulphur dioxide (and so on) into the air which is causing sunlight to reflect of the atmosphere back to Earth... had a physics GCSE test today and we had questions on fuel and global warming...

I firmly agree with what you said, but I would like to add on. Global Warming IS REAL. We cannot stop it. We can reduce it though. Using solar panels, hybrid cars, yeah, they can all help. We cannot get rid of the damage we have done, it is so significant. We just have to keep in mind that we can all do a little something to alleviate(sp) global warming.

this kind of outlook is what has dug us so deep. you have to help yourself help yourself. you can't just wait for magic to happen and save everyone from the damage we've caused. :confused3 that kind of thinking is what will end up with all of us dead.

Im pretty sure they did 10-20 years ago.

According to my parents anyway.

we should learn to be less selfish.
and think about our world and our generations to come
