Stephen Hawking is worried about global warming.

I know that it will not happen soon. It could have some drastic impact on our world in our lifetime. I also understand that people won't always agree but I think that I have some very valid points and that maybe my opinion should be respected not necessarily agreed with.

I don't think you understand those points though. I think you copied them off the internet or something.

And you just contradicted yourself. Earlier you said Global Warming will happen in the next 50-100 years.

GLOBAL WARMING IS OCCURING RIGHT THIS VERY MINUTE.
Whether you belive it or not it is. My facts did come from sources but don't all?
They are not my facts I have not personally experienced them so I don't know if the ice in the Artic is melting.

IMHO you guys don't know anything about it either. I think that this thread is pointless know to tell you the truth. Unless you are a scientist no one knows what is truely going on so I think that if you are going ot tell me that I am not supporting myself fully than you are right because I can't I am not there. I just don't want to see our only home end. It is just not a happy thought for anyone.

Actually, the Earth is the only one who knows what is really going on.

And global temps have only risen 0.4 degrees F since the 19th century.

Do you know the relationship of ocean currents to climate?

Ocean currents bring warm or cold water to certain areas. This water evaporates into the atmosphere, and affects the surrounding climate.

Do you know how the ocean currents work?

Salt content determines the speed of the currents. The faster the currents are going, the higher the salt content of the ocean. With global warming, the fresh water ice in the polar caps melts. More fresh water = lower salt content = slower currents. Eventually, the currents either move slow enough or just plain stop, stopping the flow of warm water from the Carribean to Europe. If no warm water gets to Europe, no warm water gets into the climate. If no warm water gets into the climate, you get a colder climate. This cold climate in Europe affects the rest of the world, pulling it into an ice age.

We've all see the diagrams of the the little arrows coming from space, bouncing off the earth, then bouncing off the ozone.

Are you aware that we just came out of a mini-ice age?

Yes.

Are you aware of how much carbon we send into the atmosphere is actually offset by the ocean and rainforrests?

Well the ocean takes in about 50% of what we put out. I don't know the numbers for hte rainforrests, but considering how much air we get from them, I'd guess it's a sizeable number.

I am really confused. You all asked disneyworldluver to prove what she was talking about, she did by showing you where she got her information. then you kept asking her if she understood it and to prove it, again she did by showing you the link. then when Munky was asked to prove what he knew, he did the same thing, he told you what he knew and where he knew it from. so why is it okay when Munky does it but not Disneyworldluver? And how do you know which source is more credible?

my aunt and uncle are scientists that work with the oil and the enviornment and I know for a fact that we only have about 50 years left of oil on this earth. So whether or not global warming is happening, we still need to find other ways of doing things such as heating and cooling our homes and transportation.

But I think she just copied and pasted it off the internet. And up until today she hasn't showed me that she actually knew anything about it. She just kept saying "I know the facts" and "I've researched this".

I wasn't asking if she knew it, I was asking if she understood it. She proved to me a while ago that she knew it, now I'm asking if she understands it.

I could look up a word in spanish, study it, and know it, but I couldn't tell you what it meant.
