Given the number of threads we've read I'm trying to decide if there is any purpose whatsoever to us bothering with the app.
Dh and I both have Blackberries for work . I'd prefer to not add junk to those phones unless I absolutely have to(they're both older and glitchy themselves. I had thought about switching to an I-phone for both of us for work but I am hoping to wait until Oct for the new ones).
That said do we really need the app? We'll have our laptops with us at the hotels. We have our adr's booked (only a couple) and wont be changing on the fly. I wont be messing with our FP's (gawd forbid...it took too long to organize them to change them) and I wont risk the glitches to have them vanish now.
I can print them out ( I know, I know....I could have changed them but if they try that nonsense I'll be at customer service anyway and Im sure they can access the website). Based on our plans I wont be looking to add add'l Fp's if and when they allow it on the app.
All of that said....if a ride goes down do they send you a text or just add a new fp to the app? I suppose I can even live with missing that if need be.
Frankly Im just trying to avoid frustration while on holidays and Im so type A that if the app keeps messing up while Im using it I'd be going crazy and it will take away from my enjoyment and I'd rather not deal with it at all if that's the case.
Is there anything else I'd be missing if we don't have it ?

It isn't a necessity in the parks. I went in December, February, and June and we never needed the app in the parks... mainly because we couldn't link our ticket media to MDE. I use the app on my iPad for everything related to MDE and switch up ADRs up until the day before we need them.

If a ride goes down, emails had been sent out but recently, others have reported they haven't received any type of notification. In your case, you'll be fine without the app when in the parks.

I have an iphone and I didn't find the app to be glitchy. One thing that was confusing - while in the park the app showed we had a fast pass for 1 of 5 rides for any time, including Splash Mountain, but it no longer showed the fast pass that we had scheduled for Splash. I didn't understand what had happened but it turned out Splash Mountain had gone down. Figured it out by speaking to a CM at the help area. An email was sent to me but I don't check email on vacation :)

I used the app to reschedule a fast pass my dh decided not to use and to schedule additional fast passes. I really didn't like using the app in the park, but I'm glad I did as I was able to get fast pass for A&E for my dd. I had no luck scheduling A&E ahead of time and that was the only thing my dd asked to do!

I deleted the app off of my iPhone halfway through our May trip. I didn't experience any glitches but it took upwards of 5 minutes to load, completely frustrating when trying to access information. I went to the website and took screen caps of our itinerary (FP+ and meal times) and then used the website or a kiosk if I wanted to change something.

Had the app. Downloaded prior to our trip. Worked at home (samsung centura) but S-L-O-W loading or misloading. I use wifi in the house.

At the park, opened it just for a reminder of times. I did text the times to family members so we could meet up. DH could never get it to log on to our account. DD (with iPhone) had problems with it. So, we just took to looking before arriving (use laptop) and then place info in notepad on phone. I did change a couple of FP+ using the app while in park, but it was just pushing times back. Again, it was slow going. I tried to stay away from others who were also on the phone and that seemed to speed things up.

Soon as we finished our trip, I deleted that puppy. I don't see it is needed.

Did you restart your iphone? That slowness is way out of line and usually a symptom of a phone needing a restart. I've never experienced excessive slowness and the new upgrade a couple of days ago has made startup faster. The other potential problem is too many open apps. Close a few.

I've haven't found the app glitchy at all. But I restart my iphone when any app crashes. Basic rule, if an app acts oddly or slow try a restart.

I feel I need either the MDE app or the Touring Plans o e, so I can access the wait times of rides from my phone. I'm not about to track all the way across the MK if I am gonna slam into long standbys, but of I'm in Tomorrowland and notice current standbys for Pirates and Jungle Cruise to be less than 45 minutes combined....giddyup!
