Glitch in the new system - 190 Day ADRs?

I was able to book at 190 days for each day of our December trip. I have a legitimate resort reservation #, and tomorrow is my 180 + 10 days.

For those who got in at 190 days, are you rebooking at 180, just to be "safe"? Do we actually think Disney would cancel these?

I've heard that you could enter a fake resort reservation # and it worked, but we do have a legitimate resort conf #

just trying to figure out if I should get up at 5am tomorrow and book again, lol. Curious to hear what others are doing.

thanks!

NO, I am not getting up to rebook at 180 days 10.

I'd just check on them sometime during the day to make sure they still are there. From others who have booked in the same method, they have been there post the 180 day mark just fine.

Note that the ADRs do not keep a record of your resort confirmation, so there's a pretty low chance that they could actually track it. (Yes, I know I was the one that put forward the caution about Disney doing exactly that...).

So, in short, don't rebook, but check existing ADRs tomorrow and a few times between now and then.

Updated Summary: The lowdown so far...

(mostly a copy and paste from my post a few pages back, updating some language and adding things that were missed or unknown)

#1 - The ADR system has been upgraded to v2 as a beta test. This version offers several new features and things we simply couldn't do before:
a) ADRs linked to your login - This gives you the ability to automatically pull up each of your ADRs that you have made under your login. Note: for ADRs made previous to this update, some may not show up. It's normal

b) Streamlined Restaurant Search parameters - Instead of the old find a restaurant in the "mega list", choose it, and then click the "Book Reservations" button, there is now a UI dedicated to searching for ADRs itself. It allows you to select parameters from dropdowns (Experience, Location), gives you a "Show only dining plan restaurants" checkbox, or lets you search directly by name.

c) Streamlined "Personal" parameters - The selection for party size has now become a simple 1-10 guests rather than separating out adults and children, then forcing the ages of the children. Time is also streamlined and it has options for "Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner" along with the standard time searching.

d) Expanded search window - Search window has increased from 1hr on either end to 2hrs.

e) Improved Results - Instead of just a couple of times and a couple of suggestions, the system will now display up to 3 available times and any other results matching your parameters. It will even show locations which do not have availability. This means that, you can actually search based on a meal (say, "Breakfast") and it will return all results which have availability for breakfast.
#2 - ADRs are currently being accepted up to 190 days out. This is available to all guests no matter your check-in date. To access it, you simply make ADRs as you normally would and then enter in the last available date when you link the resort to the ADRs. Due to the nature of these ADRs, you must make ADRs each day of your stay if using the maximum 190days. We are unsure at this time if this (190 day ADRs) is intended behavior. Some items suggest it is and the check-in date calendar is bugged, other items suggest that the 180+10 should be the case
a) Phrasing of the message regarding why you should link reservations is vague, but appears to support the 190 day theory. (Discovered by Tricia and later, myself)

b) The simpler format of a flat 190 days vs 180+10 would also be a valid reason for moving to this type of system. Coupled with fairness issues that are present in 180+10, this would also be a valid reason for moving to this system.

c) Through testing (by myself), it appears as though the resort linking has no validation right now. You can enter anything into the boxes and any date. This suggests that 190 days is not intended as it's just passing any resort confirmation through.

d) Pre-pay ADRs (CRT, HDDR, SoA) are still at 180+10. They do use the v1 (old) system though, so unsure how this affects them.

e) Other recreation remains at 180+10 suggesting that, for consistency, the ADRs are intended to remain at 180+10

f) Either way, we simply do not know yet which way it was intended to be.
#3 - Known Issues: There are a few known issues with the website beyond the 190 day thing above. Note: I have not included old known issues that still exist (e.g. The "Odd Number" issue), only issues that we have first noticed with the release of v2.
a) Issue - Page believes user is using Internet Explorer 6 when they are using 8. This is caused by the HTTP Headers that the browser sends to every webpage including a line about MSIE6.0. The website is seeing this line and kicking back the error, even if the user is actually using MSIE8.0 (located in another line of the Header).

Solution - Use Firefox or Google Chrome. There is no client-side fix for this at this time.

b) Issue - UK and other international users are unable to get to the reservation retrieval page. This is caused by inner code that tells the site which localization to use. The UK portion (which you would only know by looking at the contact numbers!) does not have the link to the system.

Solution - From andrewilley:

If you're on the UK version of the site (and annoyingly that is no longer indicated in the address bar, which just shows http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/) you can get to the Dining Reservations page, but not some of the other stuff on the US site, such as the "My Disney Vacation" link.

The easiest ways to tell which site you're one are (a) the phone number is listed as 0870... in the UK, rather than 407... and (b) the top bar will list "FREE Holiday Planning DVD" (UK) as opposed to "FREE Vacation Planning DVD" (US). The search bar right at the top is another clue.

I've just checked though, and the link http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/res...-reservations/ will still work even if you are currently in the UK site - there's just nothing on the site which you can click to take you there (as far as I can tell).

c) Issue - Some reservations do not show up. This is due to the way that the site was ordered before the change to v2. You did not have to log in to make reservations, so some reservations may not be tied to your log-in.

Solution - You will have to use the "Retrieve reservation from confirmation number" link on the right hand side.

d) Issue - Searching by restaurant name is not working properly (Note: I haven't seen this one myself, so I don't know if there's an error or something along those lines). I am unsure of what actually causes this, but it's most likely not on the client-side. (Or at least directly, it could be a configuration/localization issue between the client and the website).

Solution - Search by other parameters and pick the correct restaurant from the list.
That's about all I can think of for now. I'll try and keep this list updated as we continue.

Cafeen - they really ought to hire you as a consultant. All your troubleshooting might save them a few days when they could actually be working on fixing it instead of identifying what is wrong! :lmao:

Thank you for posting this! I was able to book mine (Crystal Palace & Rainforest Cafe) until 12/14 and assume tomorrow I can book my 12/15. This is one huge stress off my shoulders.

I did put in the check-in date = 12/4/10 as suggested and it wasn't a problem.

I sure wish I needed more than 3 restaurants - we're traveling with my parents who don't want to be tied down to restaurants the week they are there. It seems such a waste to not be booking for all 5 nights :)

Wow Cafeen - great write up! I'm so intrigued by the 190 thing. And going to be stalking it like mad before making my ADR's next month!

I have my confirmation number and am not going to re-book. I don't mind a little luck every now and then. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

I'm not re-booking. I did mine two days early about 9 days ago and they are all still there, looking beautiful, in the system. :) I understand the unease (I feel it too) but the rational side of me really thinks there's just no way Disney would take the time/effort to 'unbook' us all.

I'll check on them every few days, I'm sure, between now and our trip though! :)

I am not convinced that it is a "glitch." Besides, I received my email confirmations so I don't think there will be a problem.

I don't think it is a 'glitch'..I believe that Disney has changed it up. I have the majority of my ADRs made for my Dec trip. I am waiting on booking the Luau simply because the system won't allow me to book it until I hit that 180 day window. Then, when CP pkgs come out, I'll think about booking that. But, I have ADR confirmation numbers for my existing ADRs in Dec...I'll double check on them in a few weeks and then forget about them until Dec.

Until yesterday, I didn't have any problems. But when I would go online under dining resevations, it would ask me to log in. I already was and it kept cycling this page. I also got and Error 500 - server error message. I ended up calling at 7 am.

There is a phone number for techinical support. 407-939-7765. She said that the problem I was having was with WDW website and Internet Explorer 8. She said to try and used an order verison of IE.

It must be a combination of things because some people aren't haven't any problems with IE8 and I tried several different computers and it still wouldn't work.

Not fully realizing that I was booking ahead of my 180 day window (which apparently was today), I booked everything on Friday.

I logged in today and all of my ressies are still there and seem to be attached to my user name still, so I do not plan to make new ones.

I also noticed that some of the things that were wrong with the site on Friday have been fixed today - for example they seem to have proper info for character meals now - at least for Garden Grill its been updated to say its a character meal for dinner.

If you don't think it's a glitch, what is it? Do you think they purposefully have it open to people confirming with fake reservation numbers?

My guess is with the new upgrade they haven't linked the resort and dinner reservations in the system. I assume that these will all be available on one page in the near future and they will be "linked" in a meaningful way.

Congrats! Wishing you lots of pixie dust in getting the ADR's you wantpixiedust:pixiedust:

Tomorrow I'll try getting Le Cellier..... I'll need Lots of pixie dust for that one! LOL! ;):cheer2:

I think it is probably an IT glitch, but I'm not re-booking. I did check them on-line this morning and called a CM to look into the CP package and double checked them on the phone as well. Plus, I have my emailed confirmation numbers which I will dutifully carry with me.

I don't know whether it would be possible for Disney to track down the renegade ressies, but I don't think it is an effort that they would want to expend. Plus, they would have some seriously unhappy guests to contend with. Nothing is to say that I screwed up when my 180 day mark was and the system let me book. Of course, that might be the defense attorney in me coming out!!!

Does anyone know if the "glitch" or "change" is still going? I am wishing more pixie dust to folks who are able to book some dream ressies.

Wishing you pixie dust on LeCellier! The other ressies look great.

I booked a couple days before my 180 day date. I went back after my 180 days and any of the reservations that I could rebook close to the time I already had I went ahead and rebooked. There were a couple that I couldn't (like Le Cellier) and I'm keeping those as is.

What in the world?!

When I try to make dining ressies today I get the message:

"Did you know that your Internet Explorer is out-of-date? Our dining reservation system does not support Internet Explorer 6 or earlier versions."

Up until a few weeks ago I had no problem making dining ressies on-line. Is this just my computer?

I had this problem, so I just downloaded Firefox using the link on that error page.

I have to use Firefox each time I want to go into the site, but it works fine.
