Glendamax Report: "Oh why did I go SOLO"?

Hi Glenda :wave2: I just got all caught up with your great trippie! I really enjoyed reading about your solo trip. I just got back from a quick visit to WDW and thought of you while riding the HM! Thanks for another great TR :goodvibes

I don't know how I got so far behind, but I'm all caught up and... it's OVER??? Well, phooey. ;)

Gmax, I'm so glad this turned out to be a really positive experience for you! Despite the sickness ;)

Now, let's see... ins't your next trip Home in Dec.? Or am I all mixed-up?

oh what a ride! I'm sad that it's over, but will be anxiously awaiting the TR from your next trip.

It is odd that you got stuck in the same spot on HM twice in a row ...:confused3

I'm so glad I got to meet you - keep on nudgin' my dad ... we'll get them to head back to WDW sooner rather than later - TOT reunion (TOT optional)

Glendaaaaa!

As usual, I'm a day late and a dollar short...sorry!

I loved every installment! You really rock my socks!!!!

So sorry you were sick! That is so sad!

Sorry you missed out on Mr. Right....:cool2: At least you'll forever have the Tinkerbell pin to remember him (JUST kidding).

I'm so impressed you went on TOT! What's next? Sky Diving?
The look on your face is priceless

Love you my darling friend! I miss you!!!!

I'm so sad that it is over! :sad1: I am so proud of you for doing ToT! :thumbsup2

Ok, so when are you going to start the pre-TR for Dec.:rolleyes1 Huh? Huh? Huh?:hyper: :hyper:

Glenda, welcome back you did it!!

I read your report on Tuesday. Got finished with it around 3 a.m. was to tired to post. I have been busy. Back, and forth to work, being a mom, plus battling. "The no longer at Disney blues". So, I have not been on as much. But, I just want to say. I enjoyed your "trippie", and seeing Disney through your eyes. Has made me feel a little better about my Disney blues.

I especially loved your quick video of the "people mover". The boys, and I rode it 5 times consecutively, we had a sweet cm. Who did not make us get off. The plus was, we rode straight through a terrible downpour. It was so nice, and peaceful up there.

It just so happens. I booked the bounceback program for next year. But, the husband cancelled out on me. So, I moved the dates to mid Sept, the kids will be in school. So, I will be going semi solo. My mother, and father. Staying @ POP. I will be staying solo in CSR. I plan to meet them for some dinners. But, I will probably tour mostly alone. I am awaiting the adventure!!
:)

Awww it's over. I really enjoyed all of it Glenda! It was fun to read a solo trip, I will definately keep it in mind. Thank you for sharing all your wonderful memories (the good and the bad). :goodvibes

Thanks for the Solo Adventure report!! It was great. Now I guess we can all just sit back & wait for the December report to come out! :rolleyes1 ::surfweb:

Hey Betsy! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'm glad that thoughts of me while riding HM didnt cause you to get stuck!!! Did you like the new changes?!

Now, let's see... ins't your next trip Home in Dec.? Or am I all mixed-up?
Hey! I'm going Dec. 11th - 15th. On the travel channel last year, they covered Christmas at Disney. So finally this year I get to see it for myself!

I'm so glad I got to meet you - keep on nudgin' my dad ... we'll get them to head back to WDW sooner rather than later - TOT reunion (TOT optional)
Don't forget, if Dad can't go when you want to, go solo!!!! (Don't tell him I said that!)

You're Welcome!

Glendaaaaa!
Love you my darling friend! I miss you!!!!
Hey! Long Time No See!
Thanks for popping in! Glad you enjoyed it!

Ok, so when are you going to start the pre-TR for Dec.:rolleyes1 Huh? Huh? Huh?:hyper: :hyper:
Sorry, but I'm not doing a pre-trip report. I tried that last year, and it was like talking to myself! I will try to do another report though with lots of pics - oh and more video now that I know how to post them.

I was soooo glad when I found this site, cuz I thought I was crazy for feeling depressed after comming home from Disney!

Yes, I really love that ride! If I werent on it alone, I would've stayed on. As you could see, no one else was on there anyway!
It just so happens. I booked the bounceback program for next year. But, the husband cancelled out on me. So, I moved the dates to mid Sept, the kids will be in school. So, I will be going semi solo. Next year, I was going to aim for October. But if I change my mind, I'll let you know so we can hook up!

Awww it's over. I really enjoyed all of it Glenda! It was fun to read a solo trip, I will definately keep it in mind. Thank you for sharing all your wonderful memories (the good and the bad). :goodvibes
Yeah! I'm glad you enjoyed it! See? I did try to add some of the negative stuff in my report this time! I think it did make it a bit more real!

Thanks for the Solo Adventure report!! It was great. Now I guess we can all just sit back & wait for the December report to come out! :rolleyes1 ::surfweb:
Ha, Ha! Actually I am looking forward to doing that one, since I'm so excited about it!

Hey Everybody! When I get a chance, I am going to write the conclusion with tips! Why can't the world stop so we can have a chance to DIS all we want?!

Hi Glenda,:yay: I am back from my trip!!! I will check to see if I can make a visit in December.

Hi Cherokeemama! How are things going? So are you looking at coming down in December as well. I need to see if there are any annual passholder rates:)

You coming too ET?

I am very sad this TR is over! :sad1:

You make me laugh, you make me cry and make me petrified all in the same report! I can't wait until your Dec trip!!! :woohoo:

Final, final thoughts . . .

My first Solo(ish) trip was really great! Inspite of being sick, I still had a great time! As I posted earlier, this pic taken at the American Pavillion says it all . . .

IMG_1572_3.jpg

What I failed to mention is that this trip was very special also, because it was my 10th trip! I guess if I were married, this would be a really special anniversary!

About Animal Kingdom Lodge:

- The distance from the lobby to my room was tooooooo loooong. UGH! I have to call AKL directly to find out what kind of rooms are closer. Yes, it was nice to be able to see animals from my balcony, but I'd rather have a shorter walk. Tower hotels may not be as gorgeous as Disney's, but at least you don't have to walk far to do anything. I would LOVE it if Disney built one of these. They would just have to put in a bunch of elevators to accomodate all the people! (Please let a Disney exec see this!)

- Mara "food court". I guess a better name for it is "quick service area", since there was only one counter to order from. I can't imagine what that place looks like during peak season. Mara REALLY made me miss Port Orleans Riverside, and French Quarter! I hope that they expand Mara to be more like the Riverside resorts! (Do try Mara's butternut squash soup though!)

- This resort is really nice, and if you can swing it, try to stay for 2 nights during your trip. But for those of you who can't afford it, dont sigh, it's nice but it didn't blow me away. I can't see spending more than or equal to what I make in day, to stay there for ONE night. It's too much money. For me, my expectation would be sooooo high, and I'd be disappointed.

- Sadly enough, the main draw for me staying here is BOMA!!!! It was GRRRREAT being able to call at the last minute for a reservation, then only had to go downstairs to eat. To be honest, I could've eaten there everyday, but I didn't want to "cheat" myself from experiencing other places. Please do not go to Boma because I liked it. You may be disappointed since you won't recognize most of the dishes. Whereas for me, it was an adventure! For one week out of the entire year, I got to try alot of different dishes!

Thoughts on Being Solo:

- It was great being able to walk at my own pace, stop when I wanted, and speed around when I wanted.

- I NEVER regretted my choice. After the very first HOUR of being in a park alone, I understood why so many do this. Like me, I KNOW there is someone out there thinking that I HAD to feel weird at some point. The ONLY time I did, was when I got on the shuttle bus for the first time to go to MK, and no one talked to me. Everyone was chatty with each other, but ignored me. I got over that quickly though, as soon as I started looking out the window, and thinking about getting to the park.

-Eating alone was fine. The times I ate alone were at buffets - I don't know if that makes a difference. When I started to eat, I was HUNGRY! I wasnt looking around to see who was looking at me, I was eating! Also, I was thinking about my day, and what I would do next. I never read, or took notes. I just sat there and ate. But you know what's weird? Last week while shopping, I got hungry and wanted to SIT DOWN to eat. So I went over to Uno's alone! That meal was WEIRD! Maybe it was because I wasnt in a spectacular place, surrounded by people in their everyday lives. I dont know how to explain it, but I was glad when I was done!

- I would definetly do it again! In fact, I think the first time I go back with someone will be a bit weird!

In Closing . . .

I really want to thank everyone again for reading and responding to my report. Anyone who has done this understand how much work goes into these reports. So when people ACTUALLY read it, it means alot! Also, thanks to all the DISers who spotted me, and came over to say hello. As a result, not a day went by that I didnt hear someone calling my name or waving at me. That made me feel at home, even though I wasn't!

Next, I'm really looking forward to going to WDW in December! I'll be there Dec. 11-15th. After seeing the Christmas time events at WDW on the Travel Channel last year, I'm finally getting to go! (I LOVE Samantha Brown) Hopefully, I'll be able to do another report when I return.

If any of you have any quesions that you dont want to ask me hear in fear of being flammed or something, please feel free to PM me! Meanwhile, do take a look at my much neglected report from Sept. 2005 :rolleyes1

Thanks again everyone! I had a BALL! See ya in December! :santa:

We had the same experience at AKL. Way too far from the lobby and were not blown away by our stay. Love the lobby, but that is free- I would rather visit on my way to the restaraunt or stop to see the animals than actually stay there. Don't see that comment much but ITA!

Thanks so much for taking the time to do this trip report.
Great inspiration for all the solos out there! Great trip report.:worship:

Hope our paths cross in Dec. during my first solo trip!
