Glaze Question

Okay, the "Easter Cuties" page we all have seen had elements that looked to be glazed... to make them shiny..

Does anyone have a suggestion as to a product name so I can find some.. I haven't had any luck at Jo's or Mike's because only teenagers have been working and NONE of them seem to be interested in scrapbooking yet..

I hope I am remembering this stuff correctly...

I believe it was that ebay page where someone asked that same question and she referred to paper podge. I don't know what that is and haven't researched it yet. Could it be plain ole' mod podge or is there another formula.

Then, I believe it was the Cricut website where she posted a different layout with shiny elements (It was another one she had on ebay with a red background and ice cream). Someone asked about that and she mentioned UTEE, but that may be shinier than the Easter Cuties one.

I agree with the UTEE or maybe even just plain old clear embossing powder. I have some liquid embossing stuff that's pretty shiny when it dries. I think that's by All night media. Oh, or SU! has embossing powder with glitter in it called iridescent ice. That's very pretty too.

could it be Ranger's Glossy Accents? (they also do matt, crackle and antique versions)

I remember reading that she used Diamond Glaze. It can be mixed with pigments too. If you do a search for it on google, you will find sites to order it from.

I have used 3D Crystal Laquer made by Sakura Hobby Craft. It also puts a raised shiny coat onto your embellishments. I have never seen it in Mikes or AC Moore. I got it at a LSS which has now closed. But this too can be ordered over the internet, just do a search for it.

I believe it stands for Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel.

A: Hi Kate: Thank you for your kind words. The branches, eggs, etcs. are made from chipboard, cardstock and patterned papers. I used paper podge for the shine. Hope that helps. Gwen

When I searched paper podge in my search engine..

I got the Jo's website and the Mike's site..and what did show... MOD PODGE!

Thanks for looking. Sorry, I should have used a search engine first. I just figured someone here would know.

So I did the search too and got Plaid's website. It looks like they have several formulas. There's one for paper called "Paper Mod Podge" that is an "acid free formula" for scrapbooking. (Now why didn't Gwen just say that in the first place?) I don't think I'd try the regular Mod Podge if I was using it for a scrapbook, though. Since they made an acid free podge, I'm guessing the other ones may contain acid.

Mod Podge will give you that look. There is also a product from Close To My Heart that is called Liquid Glass, that will give you that glossy look too.

I haven't used UTEE, but I really want to!
