I'm going to Disney World at the end of April for my very first visit!!
I've been reading up on several different message boards, and I've never seen any posts about people wearing glasses on rides. I'm well aware that most people probably bring along sunglasses, but are able to take them off if needed and still be able to see.

Will I have problems on rides like Splash Mountain, jerky rides, or water park rides wearing my glasses? Any tips?

Either take them off or get one of those bands that go on the earpieces and then around the back of your head.

Contact lenses also work great.

I usually leave mine on, but the wildest ride I ever go on is Space Mountain and BTMRR. If I have any questions I just take them off and put them in my fanny pack until the ride is over. Debby

I just wear my glasses on all the rides. They've always been fine - were fine on Space Mountain and Rockin' Rollercoaster a couple weeks ago.

I think I took my glasses off for Rockin Roller Coaster, and splash mountain. but I think thats it. I didnt ride space mtn or TOT though, so Im not to sure on those rides.

I wear my glasses on all rides except Rock N Roller Coaster, but I think they would be ok on that ride also. I do use a neck strap just in case.

I also leave my glasses on for all rides, since I cannot see without them, and do not want to miss anything. I just wear a "sports strap" when I am going on the rougher rides. I don't ride too many rides, so a rougher ride might be Dinosaur, Kali River Rapids or Splash Mountain, which I rode for the first time, last trip, and can't wait to do again. Hope this is helpful.

I am going to purchase the surf type band to hold my glasses on. They fit tighter around and are more secure. My vision is bad enough that I wouldn't be able to enjoy the rides without them.

Thank you all for the replies. I was worried about not wearing them on the rides, because i wouldn't be able to see anything without them, but I was more worried about potentially losing them and being blind for the rest of my trip :P

Glad to know that they should be safe, and I will take the advice and pick up one of the straps for extra security!

If its in your budget, may i suggest getting a back up set of glasses? I was tight on cash, so what I did was bought another set of lenses w/my perscription put in an old set of frames. (cheaper then buying a whole new set of frames) Soooif they were to break or something. TADA! I had backups!

The only place we've had problems with glasses is at Typhoon Lagoon. My DH and I were going down the Storm slides (which are pretty mild). I took off my glasses and held onto them before heading down the slide but my husband left his glasses on. When I splashed down at the end of the slide, I had my glasses firmly in hand. My husband came down just after me and his glasses came off when he splashed down and ended up somewhere on the bottom of the pool!

You cannot linger in the pool looking for lost objects since other people are coming down the slides right behind you. They collect lost items every so often so we had to come back in 30 minutes to collect his glasses which had a big scratch on one of the lenses from being knocked around on the bottom of the pool all that time.

I've always left my glasses on, and I don't use a strap or anything to keep them there. I was really surprised though I didn't lose them on Rock N Rollercoaster but I'll never be riding that ride again any way unless I want to make my DH a widower. ;)

They did kind of feel like they were going up a bit on ToT but when the elevator stopped they fell right back on my face. :Pinkbounc

I think you should keep them on... All my family keep them on during the rides...But If you don't have that bad of a vision...take them off.
