Glasses on rides?

Sort of a weird question, but....

I frequently wear contacts, but sometimes I just don't feel like jabbing my finger into my eye at 6:30 am. If I choose to wear my glasses, will they stay on my face if I ride something like Space Mountain?

The only ride I take my glasses off for is Rock n' Roller Coaster. They are fine on everything else (including Space Mountain). :goodvibes

They most probably won't fall off your face, unless you usually have trouble with glasses falling off your face (in which case you should have your glasses adjusted).

The ride I would worry the most about is Kali River Rapids, where waterfalls are literally raining down on your face. Also, of course, don't wear then on waterslides at the waterparks.

Even though its doubtful they would come off, my oldest son and I both wear straps just for piece of mind.

Thanks all!!! I will probably wear contacts most days, but its nice to have the option. This eases my mind. :thumbsup2

I would wear a strap on them.I lost glasses on Space mtn so it is possible they can come off and honestly not worth the risk of losing them

Hmmm. I'll get a strap - I would hate to lose them.

In the past I've been on space mountain with glasses. They almost fell off, and it made the ride very unpleasant.

Next time I rode without glasses (stashed them away), but because I had a high number, I couldn't see anything, and did not enjoy it at all.

I just had my eyes operated on, and now don't need glasses anymore. Finally, I'll be able to enjoy the ride...

So, if possible, my recomendation is wear your lenses .

Have a great time...

I wear glasses on every ride. Never take them off, never had to. (I like to be able to see :thumbsup2)

I use a sport strap because I would see nothing without my glasses. On a standard coaster that's fine, but at Disney, theming is everything. Most Disney rides do not seem to be turbulent enough to lose my glasses, but why risk it?

DD18 can't see at all without her glasses, so losing them would pretty much grind our vacation to a halt until we could replace them, so she always wears a sport strap, on everything.

Before I had contacts I always took them off, mainly because I was a worry-wart. My dad, however, wears his on everything including Rockin Rollercoaster and never had any problems. I must say though that this last trip with contacts was a lot more enjoyable because I could actually see things!

I can't stand contacts and wear glasses all the time. (Guess I could afford Lasik surgery if we didn't go to WDW...haha) I took them off for Rockn Rollercoaster and it's a good thing too as DS lost his phone from his pocket on that ride! But I left them on for everything else and had no trouble.

We do as well. DS has 10+ in both eyes and his glasses are HEAVY. Even though he looks a bit off with the strap we make him wear it.

I've never had a problem with my glasses, but if it's something concerning you, then I would get the straps that hook on your frames.

Hm, I took off my sunglasses for Splash Mountain but I guess that probably wasn't necessary. I always will sit on my hat though

The only ride I have ever had my glasses fall off of was Tower of Terror, luckily I found them on the floor right by my feet afterward or I would be blind and had to have spend a lot of money for new ones! It has happened twice. Now, I just take them off and hold them.

As a fellow contacts wearer (in fact, roller coasters are what we made me switch) might I recommend you look in to something like the Acuvue Oasys style lenses? If you can get your prescription in those, they're approved for sleeping in for up to a week. I use them all the time, I take them out on Fridays, wear glasses for a day and put new ones in Sunday. It's very easy to time them so you have one pair for the whole trip, and you could probably get a trial pair from your doctor right before your trip. If they bother you just toss them and wear glasses or your regular lenses.

I have not ever tried to take my glasses on coasters, too expensive a gamble for me if I need them replaced abruptly on vacation. Without them or contacts I'm completely uselessly blind! :scared:
