Glacier explorer in August

To anyone that has done this in August. How close to the glacier did you get? We did not get that close in May.

We did it in August of 2018. Closer than the ship-much closer. It was rainy though. We had a blast.

We visited on August 28th, 2024 and lucky we booked this excursion because it was rainy and foggy the entire day so you could not see the glacier from ship! The excursion boat got much much closer than ship did. Hard to estimate physical distance from glacier because of how massive it is, messes with my perceived "farness". It seemed like the Wonder didn’t get as close as she usually gets but not sure if it was because of weather, timing, late in the season, ice in the water, etc.

Photo is distance we stopped from glacier (no zoom, a couple feet back from railing), we floated here for a while for people to take photos and move around the boat to view.
