Giving Thanks and Getting Fit - November Exercise Challenge!!

rattpack...what happened with the race? canceled for weather, or just not a good one for you? In either case, sorry about that!

The whole race was shortened due to (pick your favorite answer):
  • lightning in the area
  • debris at Animal Kingdom
  • Disney wanting us to get to the after-party to spend money
I kid a little, but all 15,000 of us were evacuated from outside WWOS into the buildings about 45 minutes before the race was supposed to start. First corral was supposed to go at 10 p.m. but didn't start until 11. They shortened the race from 13.1 miles to 6.7, cutting out the Animal Kingdom part of the track.

I go back and forth on how I feel about it; it's certainly the most expensive 10K I'll ever do. But the weather was still hot and humid, and while we didn't see much lightning after 10, there was bad weather in the area somewhat nearby. rD has to make the best safety choices they can. Plus I was in a costume that was more cumbersome than I expected (was thinking more November than Florida ... whoops). So in some ways it might have been good for me to have a shorter race.

Still had a good trip overall -- hard not to have a good time at WDW -- but the race and gear from it will probably have asterisks attached to them in my head. Also very happy I had a strong half marathon in October to feel good about that race distance this year. While it was my first rD event, at least it wasn't my first 13.1 attempt. Feel extra bad for people who lost that opportunity.

And I don't think I have plans to do runDisney next year. Maybe the 2017 marathon weekend.

Popping on to say I'm still alive and I'll be sure to catch up and report my minutes when I'm done my races. Going to have to figure out what to count. Just races or park time to. Did the 5k yesterday but at the end of the day I'd gone 13.2 miles. Feel like I need to count more than the 5k time;). 10k was awesome today!

the good news. I'm alive.
Really - the last few weeks have been incredibly stressful at work - lots of emotional rollercoasters, working 10-11 hour days and on the weekends. But it's done and now I can breath. I also stress at. a lot. So it's back on the wagon again in terms of activity and food (you know, maybe eat something green that's not an M&M everynow and then).

43 minutes today during a rather chilly walk.

195/800 - long ways to go, but I"m not giving up!

So quick update from me. I've been in CA since Wednesday, DL since late Thursday. I'm really not sure how to account for my exercise minutes. The last two days I've run races and done full park days, each day I've ended at 13+ miles according to my Garmin. Wednesday and Thursday was touring the San Diego Zoo and USS Midway museum. My pace has been very slow at all the tourist sites, walking with my kids. I'm going to count 75 minutes a day on top of race time, even though they're all a minimum of 3 hours touring. My race times, I'm going by my Garmin, which, to be honest, includes lots of time stopped taking pictures, but I'm not trying to figure all that out;)

So with all that:
Wednesday: 75mins walking
Thursday: 75 mins walking
Friday: Avengers 5k, 51 minutes, walking 75 minutes.
Saturday: Capt. America 10k: 81 minutes, walking 75 minutes.

Total 432 minutes

Brings me to 1182/1750.

Tomorrow, the half marathon. Then you can plan on seeing zero minutes from me Monday, and maybe Tuesday as I fly home and recover!

Ugh. Big setback. Elementary school son brought home stomach bug that whipped through the house. Spent the past two days on the couch. (There really is nothing good on TV.) We're all doing better now so I hope to jump on the bike later today!

Sorry about the tummy bug, but glad to hear you plan to get back in!

Just 15 minutes to report for yesterday at this point (235/500) but didn't want to forget to do my "Sunday Thankful" -

Today it's for my DS, who turned 15 this week! (which is very hard to believe) He would probably not get a kick out of mom posting a current picture, so here's an old one I quickly snapped from the cover of a photo album:

Have a great Sunday, everyone!

11/15: Avengers half marathon, 145 minutes (2:25) of so much fun:). Then we toured Disneyland for 4.5 hours, but I'll stick to my 75 minutes walking, since that was all very slow, and includes ride time, stops for photos, etc.

So 220 minutes for me today bringing me to 1402/1750.

Today I'm thankful I took control of my exercise and eating habits 6 years ago this month. I could never have done a 5k back then, never mind a half marathon. The overall improvement in my health is the #1 reward. The I am also thankful to be fortunate enough to participate in these races:)
