Giving son honeymoon vacation:please help me decide

Talked to my son last night and they would love to go anywhere, both are very easy to please. With all the other expenses this year Disneyland sounds like paradise(their words)! They said surprise us and plan the trip, they are too busy with their thesis to think about anything else.

So my thoughts are Disneyland Hotel, it's in the middle of the priced hotels and no refurbishments still going on.

My question now is where to book for the best price ? Do I get a package deal off Disney site or go to AAA local office or go online separately to get hopper passes?

Thanks for all the advice, I really appreciate everyone's input. We have done a lot of traveling together over the last 3 years, I want to go too!!!!
but I suppose they should be alone for their honeymoon:love:
March is a special month for DH and I too, I turn 50 and we are married 30 years.

Good choice. I'd do Disneyland Hotel too :) It has extra magic and the cool light up headboards! That could be romantic? LOL

Something really unique to Disneyland is the Blue Bayou restaurant. It overlooks the beginning of Pirates of the Caribbean. Nice a relaxing..fireflies..really fun atmosphere. It's pricey and a lot of people agree that you are paying mostly for the ambiance but if you've only done WDW it is something very unique to DL!

I never book on site hotels, so others will have more info. You may want to even post a separate post about that specifically! Might get more info faster :)

GCH all the way for a honeymoon. MY DH and I spent Valentines Day there and it was so romantic, covenient, and beautiful.

You should go ahead and do a price comparison, but booking the room separately from the tickets is almost ALWAYS cheaper than booking a package through Disney.

Just keep in mind when you're buying tickets that the cheaper promo tickets are blacked out from March 30 to April 15, so you'll have to buy the regular tickets valid all year if they want to be able to enter the parks on the 30th and 31st. Also, tickets are cheaper if you buy directly from Disneyland.com in advance.

I'd consider trying out Get Away Today. Their tickets are less expensive and even more discounted if combined in a package. It's all about playing with prices online with Disneyland, I've found out.

I personally would prefer Hawaii (quick search on costco travel showed plenty of fligh+hotel+car packages for under $3k, leaving them 1k+ for spending money) it really doesn't have to be a beach vacation. The first time I took my husband there he was amazed at how much there was to do and how little we actually just sat by the pool/beach. Hawaiian Airlines has amazing deals out of the bay area right now.

But since it sounds like DLR it is I would also suggest the GCH - it seems much more romantic. Are they going to rent a car once they get there in order to do more in the area plus San Diego. Do they currently have a car in Palo Alto? Perhaps they could just drive down the coast and add that as part of the honeymoon adventure?

You seem to be leaning toward DLR which is great for another reason no one else has mentioned yet! This close to your dates, it would be difficult to get a reservation at many of the more popular WDW restaurants. DLR is much easier to get dining reservations. The only ones I would really hurry to get are the Chefs Counter at Napa Rose (amazing!) and Blue Bayou.

I honeymooned at Disneyland and we loved it! We did 5 days there and it was plenty. You could also look at getting the California City Pass. It has 3 Disneyland Hopper tickets, a day at Sea World, and a day at Universal Studios.

The trip out to Catalina was a good idea too! That is a fun little resorty island.

Definitely DL. There are plenty of other things to do within 1.5 hours of there too, such as Sea World and the Zoo. We leave Sunday for a split week there.

I use AAA for all of our tickets because I don't book packages. You should price the different options, even Costco if you have a membership to see what it would be. I use my moms time share when we go so I don't have to worry about a hotel.
