Give up MK fastpasses to get Frozen?

We'll be in the parks June 20-21. Glad that FEA will open while we're there but that was scheduled to be our MK day with FP+ and ADRs already made. I can't entirely switch park days because we have hard to get ADRs at Epcot for June 20 and MK for June 21. I have FP+ already made for Epcot June 20. Should I give up our MK June 21 FP+ (incl 7DMT, which we have done before) to get another set of Epcot FP+ to include the new FEA ride the day it opens, or do you think they will be doing a soft opening on June 20 while we're in Epcot? Or should we keep the MK FP+ and wait in the standby line for FEA if we hop over there the day it opens? (It's on a Tuesday, not sure if that matters.) What would you do? Thanks in advance!

Considering you are going to be fighting a huge amount of people tomorrow morning to try to get that first day fastpass, its a pretty risky proposition... You probably have a better chance at a soft open ride the day you are already scheduled to go to Epcot IMO. Standby line for that on opening day is going to be insane tho, so you will be giving up a large chunk of your day for that one ride.

I know. And it's the 30 day mark for off-site guests to make their FP+ so I feel like whatever I give up at MK will be snatched up while trying to grab the FEA FP - and what if I don't get that either??

And what if it really doesn't open as planned, I'd stick with what you have and take your chances.

Well its actually 31 days (May has 31 days) so if you don't get it, you won't be fighting the non-resort crowds... but I would bet some savvy MKers will be looking for drops tomorrow, so it will be snatched up regardless.

How do soft openings work? Do they typically happen a day before official opening? All day or intermittently?

1. It can be a day, or up to a week, or two weeks, or more. (No "rules" for soft openings.)
