Hey- Mal- just wanted to let you know that I agree that the warning really was not fair...

I sure do wish we had a few more words we could say and use- and we have all learned from your misfortune here... so we can all do better in the future.

Like many I've seen quite a bit of rude behavior- rude should be added to the dictionary- has anyone suggested it be added? Perhaps we all should ask- stating the reason being that it is otherwise difficult to state the term and you really don't want to have to dance around to tell someone they are rude.

Agree and good advice! Rude should be part of the dictionary.

Just to add to the confusion... When my daughter was little she called the roof of the house the ruth of the house. We'd ask her where Santa lands his sleigh and she'd answer, "On the ruth!"

Hey Mal-

I've got a better one for ya! I was in a trade room yesterday, just doing my random roomhopping (as usual), and there was a player in there who was threatening to use an autobooter on people who refused to trade him. He threatened to use it on me, and I told him to leave me alone, and sure enough, he booted me of off VMK not once, but twice! When I went to report his sorry little rear, of course 'threaten' isn't in the vmk dictionary, and I had no idea how else to type in what he was doing. It's so irritating to me that there are people on VMK who are now sinking to new lows all for a game!

IMO we need better staff! These bans aren't right, even if it's a warning it's a bad warning. I wish people wouldn't report people for something that they didn't do. So sorry that this happened to you Mal.

Wow Mal sorry to hear that... even though this topic is a few days old i just read it. I probably would have dont the same thing though, cause lucky me I got my mothers temper, even though i know how to contain mine lol, i still would have said something like that, if not worse.
Then i would quickly leave the room so they could not report me if they were planning on doing so, that way they would not know who to report Almost as if i was wearing a mask lol.
Then again when my temper runs I usually go on a rant and it takes me a while to leave but so far it has worked I just hope that if i see someone like this that i had better have had a good day lol or they better watch out.

I think this player got a real kick out of reporting me because I am a CL.

Which is I quess ok...I learned my lesson I will no longer ask people to play nice, I will just report for harassment since it seems that is what VMK would rather I do.

I think this player got a real kick out of reporting me because I am a CL.

I am terribly sorry about your situation and I totally understand your decision. Too bad it had to come to this...

I believe that the Report feature should be used as a tool, and shouldn't be made as convenient as it is.

If a player is being rude then I report instead of asking them to play nice or calling them out on it...Before I felt I should give them an opportunity to change their ways....not now.

Better them get warned or banned then me.

I meant no hostility towards you, but the countless players that just use this feature on a whim, as opposed to well-thought out reports. Those careless reports just end up hurting the nice players...

You tried being nice, and you were punished for it: that's what discouraged me.

Mal, PLEASE don't take this the wrong way, but I don't believe (in this situation) you asked for anyone to play nice. You just told them you don't like ugly players.

Before you give reports out like there is no tomorrow, I think it might be best if you just ignore the player. Then, if you find the person is disturbing the entire room, report him or her.

Most online games do allow some type of player to player taunt while in game. I'm not so sure about this game. I belong to a online game team and we do control our servers for content concerning language etc because we do have some younger players come in. We do allow minor taunting which are built into the game we host. Only thing I can say is give your side of the story to the admins and move on.

what was being said in the game I was in was not taunting and in previous games that week it was not taunting either.

Saying things like "arg you scuvvy pirates to the bottom of the sea with you"
is taunting and fun.

saying things like..."I hat you in rl and wish you were dead" and worse is not taunting it is plain rude and inappropriate behavior.

The players in the game with me knew exactly what I meant and why I said it...

I don't take anything you say the wrong way...I think you have made what you think perfectly clear and since I am not handing out reports like there is no tommorrow... I will take your advice under consideration. Probably will not take it though hope you don't mind.
