I regularly donate platelets and was wondering if it qualifies anywhere for the GAD voucher? I can't find anything on the website- or the NY BLood Center.
ANyone had any luck?
Thanks in advance! :thumbsup2

I haven't seen blood donation although in Maine they have some volunteer opportunities registering participants at blood drives. I checked because donating blood would have been an easy opportunity for my DD and DH since they are regular O negative blood donors.

I didn't see any GAD opportunities for giving blood - I was checking several locations for my friends and family.

I'm also a regular platelet donor. I did a little poking around to see if our Red Cross was a participant with Disney. I was told the Red Cross volunteer projects are not related to blood donations, except where some centers need volunteers to process donors, etc. I'm scheduled for a platelet donation on Saturday morning and know that it takes a lot longer than a whole blood donation, but . . . I did a different volunteer project to earn a voucher. It was good to be exposed to a different agency.

Hi Sandi :yay:

I'm a State grad and huge fan. Just had to say I love your siggy. I was at the MSU/UM bball game yesterday. It was great! Nice to meet another Spartan fan. :cheer2:

There was a blood donor opportunity in my area when the GAD program first rolled out. It was pulled from the site pretty quickly though.

As I understand it the hospital was told the Disney program would be a good way to reward loyal donors. Instead they were slammed with over 1200 new applications the first week, and they just couldn't keep up with the volume. Apparently some folks who tried to sign up were none too understanding or altruistic about it either.

With the GAD program already beginning to wind down, I believe only opportunities with a specific date, time, and set number of volunteers are being posted now. That would probably exclude most, if not all, blood donation opportunities.

I read somewhere that they actually have or about to shut down all GAD and unless you already have a date set-up you can't get one. CHeck fast.
