Can anyone suggest a good make-up to wear in florida that won't come off in the humidity and gives good coverage? I know the US travellers recommend 'bare essentials' but I've never seen this in the UK. Anyone? Or something that's good for stopping hair from becoming a frizz bowl?

Bare Escentuals is sold on QVC - but I get mine from US sellers on ebay - it's cheaper ;)

Hi Seobaina :wave2:
Good question!
I have never been at a particularly humid time, but will be this year so look forward to seeing what people recommend- I don't know anything about "bare essentials", sorry....

During May last year it was pretty hot- I managed during the day with just a mattifying moisturiser (my favourite one which I use all the time anyway) and a bit of concealer if needed (most of the time then!) and maybe a bit of powder if I was feeling extra-shiny. I also made good use of those little blotting papers (you can get them in Superdrug/Boots/Body Shop)- nice and lightweight for travelling too. In the evenings I occasionally used a non-oily foundation if we were going out.

As for hair...mine wasn't too bad in May (prob because although it was hot, it wasn't humid) but I'm having to face up to the fact that in July it's going to be a disaster from the minute I step off the plane!

I've always bought a cheap can of hair mousse from ASDA for our hols, in the morning I smooth it through my hair after a shower (takes about 15 secs) and it seems to keep it unfrizzy.

As for make up, I just stick with a powder foundation to take the shine off, again cos it's a powder you can just brush it over in a about a minute. We're normally rushing around in the mornings so I don't want to be faffing about with makeup! I agree with Lindsey about the blotting papers - very useful things indeed!

I wear Estee Lauder, Clinique ad Bobbie Brown make-up. All of these stay on in the humid weather and I can usually swim with my make-up on as well.

Is it really THAT good? And is the coverage really full?

I've not been using it that long - got given some samples and have only recently taken the plunge into full sizes.

I don't get on with many regular foundations and I find this format suits my skin - haven't tried it in a hot climate yet though!

I find the coverage is good - with the right applictaion technique & a good brush :)

I read recently that the trick to keeping hair frizz free is to make sure it's completely dry before venturing outside.

Debbie I think that's probably true- mine always seems to behave better after a vigourous blow-dry- the hotter the better! I know sometimes you're supposed to let it dry naturally in the breeze and all that, but it doesn't work for me....
In hot conditions I suppose you wouldn't want to use a hot hairdryer but I don't find it a problem in the Florida air-con!
