Day 3 May 12th Epcot

Today we had a lie in until 7.20am, isn’t it funny how your body clock soon adjusts itself! The morning pattern was already establishing itself into out of room for 7.45am, leisurely walk over to the PM (feeding the ducks on the way), toast and tea for me, croissant and tea for Kara, bacon and sausage for Lucy. All of this came to about $10 – we ate outside every morning overlooking the lake – heaven!! More about the PM and buses at CSR in a later report (probably on a day when I can’t remember what we did!!!)

In a morning we always caught the bus from the bus stop outside the PM, so there we were on our way to Epcot. I just love Epcot, it doesn’t seem as manic as the other parks and because we have always been in May we have the wonderful flowers to look at (not that I’m into gardening!)

Second in the queue again behind the people that we were behind yesterday at AK! What are the chances of that? Not so keen on the new opening ceremony – last year we were chosen as family of the day, not chosen this year….we told Lucy that she mustn’t look so cute any more!!! Got some great photos of the characters though….

Dashed off to Soarin’, FP and decided to ride as well. Kara loved the ride, as she had never ridden it before, but those black spots on the screen drive me mad and spoil the overall effect!! Once I can see one I can’t shift my eyes away from it!!

Then marched over to TT and then to Mission Space. I love MS, and rode it 8 times last year (5 times one after the other!) However, even though we all loved it, I think it had definitely been toned down!

Epcot was almost empty today and the weather was fantastic – mid 80’s and hardly any humidity…..perfect, just perfect. :sunny:

After walking back to Soarin’ we decided to go and see Crush, however the queue was about 20 minutes and we really didn’t want to wait that long. After a 5 minute deliberation we decided to come back another day (mother making a mental note of this!).

Suddenly, yet again, the need for food overtook any thoughts of walking round the World Showcase – something that we have never managed to do. I know its sacrilege to go to Epcot and not see any countries apart from passing through Canada on the way to England, maybe next year!

So it was off the Harry Ramsden’s, table outside overlooking the lake, fish & chips x 3 and 1 large sprite. Gosh when you start to write down what you eat it actually sounds gross!!! But it’s lovely at the time. Sat with an elderly couple from Canada, who couldn’t speak any English, only French Canadian – so that was an interesting conversation!!!

After lunch we decided we had had enough and headed off for the bus via the Butterfly Tent and that’s when we spotted the Loch Ness Monster, who had relocated from Scotland to Florida!!! Nicer weather had something to do with his decision!! Someone mentioned that it was a Snapper Turtle (can anyone confirm this?)

We avoided being eaten alive by Nessie and made it as far as the Mouse Gear shop. The kids went in and I sat on the wall outside, yes you’ve guessed it – soaking the sun up! That’s when I took this photo………

It was so quiet that I suddenly realised that the water fountains go in time with the surrounding music…………..it was one of those moments when I could feel myself nearly crying……….silly old fool!! The kids disturbed this moment with the shouts of “we need some money, I’ve seen a pin that I really, really, need”. Even Kara, who by now, is beginning to realise that she isn’t going to see anyone that she knows or will ever see again, and is dropping all the “I’m 20 and I’m going to remain looking cool” act, bought a Tinkerbelle pin which she promptly put on the bottom of her t-shirt!! $35 dollars later Lucy remembered that she hadn’t actually seen any characters today so off we went in search of them……

Finally made it back to CSR where we plonked ourselves by the Dig Site for the next 5 hours….leaving Lucy to “go and play on the slide and make yourself some new American friends”. As you can tell quality family time is really important to us!!!! :rotfl2:

Went to PM for tea – I had soup, Kara had chicken fajitas and Lucy had chicken strips and fries. We then decided to go “off itinery” and go to Fantasmic. Arrived in time for the girls to go on TOT first. Kara was quite scared, so I went up to the chicken exit with them, and then met them outside. I have been on this last year and it is the only ride I will never go on again. They came off buzzing!!! Kara loved it and Lucy was happy cause that meant she had someone to go on it with again.

Went and got a seat for Fantasmic – love this show, but really should have left it for another night because we were now shattered. It’s all the sunbathing that wears you out!! Got back to CSR at about 10.30 – straight to bed.

Finally I took this photo 5 seconds after Lucy told me that she wasn’t tired!!!

Sounds like a great day. Loved your picture of the snapping turtle, I have never seen anything like that before.

Another great day - Epcot must have been really quiet, there's hardly a soul around.
