Girls Trip~OLD THREAD (see first post for link to new one)

Hello everyone.

I have been unofficially signed up for this trip for quite awhile in that I have had a place to sleep in one of the overstuffed Villas. I put my name on the list in case I would be able to come, and looks like things at work are stable enough that I feel I can ask for a few days off without losing my job...whew.

I am Amy, or AmySue, or AmyOkraSue or AmyIHaveBeenOnAllButTheLastTripAndHadFunOkraSue. That is for the benefit of all the many I do not know on this thread.

I am a local, from San Diego, am usually an AP holder (currently expired, oh woe is me), have one kid, DD11.


So, let us get chatting y'all.

Oh, and no ironing in an 85 degree room this time. In fact, no toiling at all, ok?

I cannot promise that I won't have any emergency ironing.....

I do not remember how many iron-ons I was doing last minute for people. I did bring my own iron though. Like a girl scout, I was prepared.

Calcutta was overcrowded AND a sweat shop, I tell you. Now this year, lap of luxury in a VILLA...my already freakishy large head will become even more inflated with pride.

I look forward to seeing you too, Linda. Betting not at rope drop, though.

I had super de duper major fun piling 5 grown women into a room at the HOJO, so I would say there is NOTHING wrong with hanging out and working in our own little Calcutta.

But, now I am staying WAY uptown, hanging with Richy Rich and the Hoighty toights in the VILLAS, so gotta staighten up and improve my sweatshop ways.

Never you fear sweet bun, yours what not the only shirt I was ironing. I had a roomie or two with two crafty left thumbs, or lack of organization so that last minute ironing was needed....

Sarah~ I'm hoping to announce the teams by next Thursday. It may be sooner if I hear back from a couple people before then.

Also, depending on the total count, I may have to do some creative persuasion to get a couple other ladies to sign up so the teams will be even. But it will definitely be next week sometime .

Okay Ladies, Time to Talk Goodies & Snacks!!

If you're attending the Meet-n-Greet, we ask that you bring a sweet or salty or even healthy treat to go on our snack table. We are sitting around 45 ladies so far & that number just seems to keep rising.......so plan on bringing enough for 48 (4 dozen). So if you get individually wrapped items, make sure there's enough to go around please!!!!

I would love for each of you to PM me here on the DIS or message me on FB to let me know what you'll be bringing. I'd like to get a good variety & mix.

I wonder if.....I know it's probably way too late to be making changes like this....but I wonder if we could push the Cafe Orleans dinner back an hour or so.....to around 6:30 instead of 5:30?

You'd have to PM Bridget about that. Given our large group and the fact that we'll have two reservations, we might have a bit of a time change anyway in order to accommodate everyone.

Just saw some video of the Jolly Holiday Cafe, it looks great!! They soft opened today and Oscar (from CC) is the chef there until CC opens back up. YUM!! Can't wait to eat there!! It looks like they have all the bakery stuff as well as regular meal items.

It does look great!! I can't wait to hear actual taste test reviews from some of you.

I'm doing this trip super budget and super relaxed.
No t-shirts, no scavvy hunt, just one "nice" meal, the meet and greet and the rest of the time I will be wherever the spirit takes me.


Just will be happy to be out of the cold and gloom of MN winter. Though this season has been not too shabby.

Cold, a bit of snow, 40 degree temps with lots of sunshine melting all the snow away.. rinse and repeat each week. I'm afraid we are in for heavy snowstorms in spring or the evil negatives temps later this month. So by February cabin fever will set in, nice warmer break for me while my family suffers.. muhahahhahhaaaa

I have my treat planned out............................

Stacie that was a GREAT article. Do you still want me to take pics?? I prob will take a few anyway but since there were so many I prob don't need to take as many as I had planned.

Mel I pm'd you about a pink shirt did you get it?? Hope so.

B IF we end up going we are not doing any group activities either. I thought I wasn't going to go but my mom can't switch my ticket to my dad for the cruise so as long as nothing goes wrong with his cancer treatments then I guess we are still going. I thought we would just cancel the Disney part of the trip but my mom doesn't want to.

But IF we go we won't get there till prob noon on Fri and then orig the ONLY thing we were going to do was the group photo sat morning and the scavy hunt but my mom's knee is REALLY bad (she found out she has NO padding between her femur and her bottom leg bones so it is gridning bone on bone) so I don't see how she is going to do ANY walking much less that I told her she should rent one of those scooters like Cheryl has. But anyway we will be there till Sun afternoon if we go so we should def meet up. I DEF want to meet you and Alison!!

I am hoping to see the rest of the ladies too at the group photo!! Otherwise we are pretty much doing our own thing as well cuz we will have the girls with us.

Off to work on Katy's slumber party. This is the first one we've had. 8 11 & 12 year old girls. I hope I survive LOL
