GIRLS only

I'm 15 and I haven't got IT :rotfl: I'm not gonna get all worried about it until I'm 16, and even then I'll just go down the doctors. For me, I have a skinny-build and its a genetic thing. Sometimes you need to be over 100lbs (I think) and I don't think I am yet.. or I am, but it isn't consistent.

Oh and I've had all of the 'symptoms' too, for about 4 years LOL.

Don't worry about it. If your family is like mine, it is probably a genetic thing.

Be thankful, it won't last much longer =/

Anyways, my mom got hers when she was 16 and I got mine at 14, it's no biggie

Like everyone said its normal.

I currently have IT, and IT's not fun at all, so be happy with not having IT while you can.
It especially sucks when you have a bunch of stuff to do this week, like me.

I am like 80 pounds, does that make too much of a difference on when it will come?

Not particularly, but generally people weigh over 100pounds due to the natural ways of the female body. But I would say no, usually you'll start around the same time your mum did or female members on your fathers side did.

No not exactly because I was around 80 lbs when I started, but once you do start you'll wish you never did. Cramps, bloating, mood swings, leaking, yada yada yada it all sucks lol

ugh trust me you do not want "IT". im small and i started when i was twelve, i was about 85 pounds. i started on chirstmas eve in WDW when we were staying in a trailer. :( not fun.

I got my period when I was 13.

Why are we calling it "it"? It's a period, and it's nothing to be ashamed of.

talking about body weight affecting your cycle, the female body has more fat cells than the male body. i guess we need the extra build up for menstruation? but whatever its for, if you ever decide to diet, never drop below 1200 calories a day. your cycle will stop. and thats not healthy. being very very tiny (if genetically, and youre not trying to stay that way) is not a bad thing, but a normal, healthy 14 year old (or over) should not weigh less than 100 lbs. sudden changes in diet/schedule/stress levels can cause changes in your cycle, too. i suggest that if youre seriously concerned go see an obgyn. she can tell you more than we can.

Am I the only one who finds it a little bit weird that this is one of this person's first posts? I mean, why come on here and ask perfect strangers personal questions?

I can understand it from people who've been here a long time... But... =/

Weird.

Weird.

Maybe because they feel like they have no where else to go. They were probably looking for a teen board to ask someone their age a question.

Doesn't seem that weird to me.

dont worry-

im almost 13 and i didnt get mine yet...

im a rather small and spent most my life at a dance studio...

you can go to the doctor and they can do tests to c wen ull get it...

i should get mine at the age of 14 or 15 (: a year or two to go

ITA.
And if she was uncomfortable enough to not want to ask anyone in RL, calling her "weird" probably isn't reassuring her either.

I remember being really concerned about not getting my period, I was one of the last girls in my grade.
I was 14. My mom had gotten it when she was 12, so I figured there was something wrong. But it just varies from person to person.

I sympathize with you, because I remember everyone saying "Just treasure the time you don't have to put up with having your period!" and just feeling like it would never happen and left out.
But I promise, it will happen eventually.

Don't worry about it too much. In the long run, it really doesn't make a big difference on your daily life.

Weird.

I don't find anything weird about it.
But that's just me

I got mine when I was 12 and 3 months, but I was one of the first girls in my grade to get IT. This year, in my freshman year in high school, a kid in my grade got it for the first time and she's 14. Don't worry.

Think yourself lucky.
There a pain.
Litrally.
But i got mine at age 12 i think.
xoxo.
