umm i got my period 5 years ago and for the first time ever im due during Disney time. ive never had it at disney. who here has had it in disney, and how did you feel? did it ruin the fun? i get horrible cramps the first two days, and im afraid its just eat up all the fun.

Well, I haven't been on a Disney trip since I got mine, so no. But this July when we are going I'm suppose to be...darn sorry I have not any advice, until after July. I don't suppose it will ruin the fun, but it will just be a little irritating while your there. That's all the advice I have sorry.

I've had it there, its really not that bad. Having it on the plane is horrible though. Theres actually a thread titled Girl Thread that pretty much talks about periods and stuff. The regular posters over there probably have more advice than me. Good luck!

Wanda, I have had my period once during a WDW vacation and it didn't put a damper on my vacation at all. I can get severe cramps as well like you do in the first day or so of the period, but on those days I try to do things that are out of the parks like hang around the pool and relax as much as possible. You also may want to break up your day on those severe cramping days if you have the Park Hopper or annual passes that allow you the freedom to go out of the park and enter later in the day. Like go into the park in the morning and leave come back and rest or vice versa. Don't try not to focus on your cramps and period. I know that is easier said then done, but it can be done. Trust me I have done it. And Advil works wonders for me.

oh hai! we alreddy have a grrlz onli thread.

it's like, 5 threads down..

would your mom let you take a week's worth of birth control?

I get my period at some of the most inopportune times, trust me, disney isn't that bad.

But, if your mom will let you, the birth control will keep you from starting for awhile.

Have fun. =)

Twice.
It doesn't bother me when I'm there. Only when I'm at home.
Activity keeps me from cramping. Walking for hours on end = activity.
I had like, no cramps.

It doesn't ruin my fun. In fact, I'll just forget about having it until I go use the bathroom. inbd.

Agh, I've only had it once at WDW...and luckily it was like the last two days I was there...Midol will become your best friend (and if you are totally PMSy like I am it will be your family's best friend as well!)

But yeah...walking a lot seems to help it anyways...so all the walking will help most likely.

The birth control will help it delay, but make sure that you start taking it about 2 weeks before you go...not right when it's due...you'll still cramp and bloat and you might have breakthrough bleeding...so make sure its like 2 weeks before!

I totally agree that birth control helps out alot with the severity of the period.

I would rather have my period there, than go on birth control. My good friends sis got a blood clot in her leg because of it, so now I refuse to take it. Good luck with your choice.

That's not always going to happen.
How many people do you think take those pills?
And the risks probably differ from which pill you're taking.

I know, but because it happened to someone I know, I'm not going to take it.

what kind of birth control was she on?

did your friend have a pre-existing condition that made her prone to blood clots?

Theres about a million different kinds of birth control pills, not including the morning after pill.

Hmm, I know its a pill. I think it starts with an M?? WOuld you know the names?

Anyways, I don't she does have a pre-existing condition, except for the fact that she was on a very long plane trip, coming home from Cambodia.

The birth control pill I am on was prescribed to me so i wouldn't get blood clots. Most birth control pills help reduce the amount of bleeding thereby reducing the risk of clots. I have been on the pill for 4 years (3 different kinds) and have not had a blood clot since.

Do your research before you judge other people and say they are putting their lives at risk.

The plane trip would've put her at a greater risk of blood clots than a BC pill. BC thins the blood. Like asprin.

The most common pills around here are Alesse and Tri-Cyclen.

I think Emily was just saying that because someone she knows personally didn't respond well, she wouldn't personally use the same thing. This is a bad example, but if someone around me died of lung cancer, because they smoked, I wouldn't ever smoke. Its like that. I'm the same way, if someone I knew personally was hurt because of a medication, I wouldn't use it. I don't think she meant 'Don't use it' I think she just meant 'It doesn't work for me, but just be careful in your decision'

Yes, thank you. :)
