This summer DH and I discussed it and decided that I should start taking my daughters 4 & 5 on a yearly girls only trip. They are excited already! I am considering inviting one of our nieces as well to help out 14 & 15 (any ideas on how to chose?). Should we try to go to HHI, as we have never been, or Vero, also never been, or back to WDW? I think they would enjoy WDW more, but it is a much further drive for lil' ole me. How difficult is it to get a studio at HHI in the summer? I am willing to take any week? Should I take a niece or just do a mommy and me trip? OR (and this is a big or) should I invite both nieces and their mother and their brother and make it a bib mommy and kid trip?

I love the idea of a mommy/daughter trip, but if you are thinking about opening it up to others (nieces, etc.), I say the more the merrier!!! I would have a hard time choosing which niece and wouldn't want to cause resentment. Even if you brought one this year and one next year, their brother loses out just because he is a boy. I would hate that if I were him...lol!!!

Maybe once your girls get a little older, you could make it just the three of you.

I would probably opt for WDW (we are trying HH this summer and I am sure we will love it...but WDW has so much for a girls only trip). If you decide on HH, we were able to get a one-bedroom at the 7 month mark with no problem, so I bet since you are flexible with your dates, you would be able to get something!

Have fun planning your trip!!!

I've done two "girls only" trips.

The first one was two summers ago with my two DDs ages 6 & 9 yrs. at the time. My mom came with us and my sister and niece age 5 joined us. We stayed at the Contemporary and had such a great time together, and it will always be one of my favorite vacations to WDW. This was my mom's 1st trip to WDW and it I was so happy to be able to take her and show her the things I most enjoy at Disney. She LOVED it (everything except Splash Mtn., go figure!)!!!

The second girls only trip was this past June and included my two DDs who were then 7 & 10 and again I splurged to treat my mom for another magical vacation.

I wouldn't hesitate to go alone with my two daughters, but they are also getting older and easier to travel with. My DH does enjoy going to WDW, but not as much as me and my girls!

Definitely do the "girls only" trip with your daughters. You will always treasure the memories you will make! :lovestruc

We have mother-daughters only for 2 nights before the dreaded boys arrive. The first thing I did was rent a convertible. Then, the girls got to pick the hotel - and darn, they didn't pick the Ritz! We have one night at Nickleodeon - holiday innish place.. and then we check into OKW!

Can't wait!

good luck with your plans. We go somewhere different every year. I want them to learn how easy it is to travel.

Thanks everyone! I considered the potential issues with only taking one niece, but they have both gome with us multiple times and the oldest one is so "I don't want to go anywhere but with the boyfried crazy!" I think she would probably let her sister go. As for the nephew, he won't stay all night away from mommy (and he is 8!) so we won't invite him for several years.

I am glad to hear that you have great trips! I can't wait to go, once I decide where to go!

Can we swap husbands?? I would love to do a girls only trip with DD10.

I am glad that you all think this is a good idea. What a great hubby I think I have. However, women at work think I am crazy. Their response is, "He is going to take them on a trip too, so that you get a break, right?" My response is, "Are you kidding? This IS my break, my break fom him and some much needed bonding time. I am away from them eveyday when I am here with you people!" :rotfl:
