Has anyone heard from January? :confused3

She hasn't signed up for anything, and I'm afraid she's going to miss out on a lot of fun meals and the scavenger hunt if she's coming.

Should we assume she's not coming?
I don't know. She says she's coming, but then she doesn't post or sign up for anything. :confused3

JANUARY!!!!

Where you at girl????

I'll try to send her a message on FB. Wendy too. She's not signed up for anything is she?

Thanks for all of your posts and hugs. You all are the sweetest women I know!

I just listened via my sisters cell phone to my grandmother's services and although it was sketchy at best I felt that in a small way I was there with my family. My grandma would have been 94 today...she had a happy and until the past couple of years a healthy life. I hope to be as fortunate.
PS Thanks Heather for mentioning the cell phone and to Donna for reminding me to try it. :)

You're right. Wendy hasn't signed up for anything either.

Awwww Vicki, I'm so sorry about your grandmother's passing and that you couldn't be there with your family for the services. Take care sweetie. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi everyone! Love the holiday weeks, I can actually catch up on work and don't have people scheduling tons of meetings.

It's so cute. They live in town, but still want to wake up with us. So we will be quite crowded, but all in all I am blessed. :grouphug: Our traditional breakfast on Christmas morning has to be Monkey bread. For our big feast I'm trying the Barefoot Contessa's spiral ham, and Dave is going to smoke a turkey. I'm also making the stuffing recipe that Step gave us, and gooey apple dumplings. That is a tradition that my Mom started. Yummy! The rest of the family are going to bring the sides.

All that food sounds so yummy!!!! My DH and I are doing cinnamon rolls (from a can), 7 layer dip & a honey baked ham! Still yummy, but not the same as a home cooked meal. I think it's awesome that you will all get to wake up together. Christmas in PJ's is my favorite.

I think so! Although for some reason the closer it gets to Christmas, the less it feels like it for me. How weird is that?? :confused3

Me too. But I think for me it's because this is the first year dh and I are spending Christmas alone. We are excited, but without our families, it doesn't feel like christmas time. Also, my dh keeps saying it's not christmas time because he's wearing shorts & a t-shirt everyday. He's used to rain & clouds everyday around Christmas since he grew up in Seattle, WA area

Well I'm finally on a two week break from school. I had another reading/language arts lesson plan due yesterday, along with a weekly summary report, but everything is done and turned in. I am going to try to work ahead though during our two weeks off because I have another 6 reading/language arts lesson plans to write, and it's always nice to get ahead when you can. :thumbsup2

My dad is home from the hospital and seems to be doing okay so far. He's on oxygen 24/7, but he's walking a little better and doesn't look all swollen and purple anymore. He will have a physical therapist come in 3 times per week for the next 3 weeks to help him strengthen his legs. He doesn't seem to be too into it though. (sigh) Well, at least he's home for Christmas.

Make sure to take some time for yourself too. While it's nice to get ahead, it's also nice to wind down during the breaks (when they come). I'm glad to hear that you dad will be home for Christmas and is doing better.

OK, here's my still to do for the trip so far. Am I missing anything major?
1) Double check the front page for meals I've signed up for (do today)
2) Buy a lime green shirt (any suggestions where I can find a lime green shirt? Are people decorating theirs in any way?)
3) Buy a black shirt
4) Pick out appropriate PJs
5) Buy a tiara
6) Try on tie-dye shirt
7) Do Iron on & Decorate
8) Write down all ressies per front page (right before)
9) Write down all things I owe people for & need to pay @ trip
10) Buy Disney dollars from Disney store & put in envelopes to try & budget myself
11) Pack (right before - will likely have another list, remember credit card for Napa Rose)

I remember Breezy's first "date". It was the summer after 6th grade and she was twelve. His name was Daniel No (spelled wrong but pronounced No). He was a studious asain boy and his mom didn't speak english. We took them to the mall and they hung out and had lunch. We also took them roller skating and to the movies. He gave her flowers and cheap costume jewelry. After three dates they broke up. They both moved on but we will always remember Daniel No. :lovestruc Just had to share that story. And yes, they do grow up so fast. I still call her baby when we talk on the phone and she will be 23 in a few weeks!
)

She'll always be your baby! I loved that first date story. Sooo cute. His name was probably Noh. My first date was a church Halloween party. My mom was so excited until she opened the door and saw that it wasn't my date but the guy's sister. He was too shy to come to the door (his mom was driving all of us). ;)

Melody, your Christmas plans sound wonderful.

We don't have a breakfast tradition.. we used to have stollen because a friend baked it.

I think so! Although for some reason the closer it gets to Christmas, the less it feels like it for me. How weird is that?? :confused3

Aww, how sweet. I love how the two of you are so close. I hope that for me and my girls. :)

I'm sure it will be - you're always spending quality time with them and doing fun things like baking and watching scary movies - :)

Has anyone read the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series? I started the first book last night and it's good so far.
!

I don't know that series... is it YA? Supernatural? I do read some of those.

So I've been on the line with Disney Dining for 20 minutes. I thought I would double-check what time they open to call for our Feb ressies as I have to get up early on the 26th :scared1: to do Carnation Cafe. [note: they finally answered - it is 7 AM, Beth PST].

Tell me this is the Christmas crowd and not any indication of how busy it's going to be in Feb...

First of all great big ((Hugs)) to Vicki. I know how hard this must have been for you. I have no surviving grandparents left and I sure miss them. My mom's mom was actually my best friend. I spent a LOT of time with her growing up and up until I moved to Washington in my 20's I used to go pick her up every saturday and take her to get her hair done and then we would have lunch. I would bring her to my house and we would watch old movies and I would make her dinner. We both watched As the World Turns together for YEARS and we would call eachother on the phone and talk about it. Even up till I was in college I would spend the night at her house and sleep in her bed and we would talk for hours about when she was young. I REALLY miss her a lot! I only wish my girls could have known her!!! My dad's mom died when he was 11 so I never met her and my mom's dad died when I was 6 months old so I never knew him either. So I really only ever had 1 grandparent and I sure miss her a lot. So I know exactly how you feel! I am glad you were able to at least "listen" in. Great big ((hugs)) and continued prayers for peace for your family while you grieve!!

Mel how scary with the Sherrif and the whole guy getting stuck in your yard thing! Sheesh! The last time I had police come to my door in the middle of the night unfortunately it was to bring my stepdaughter home. NOT a pleasant experience to be woken up from a sounds sleep to police banging on your door shinning flashlights etc. Glad nothing was wrong but I agree VERY scary! That is so exciting and cute about Katilyn. I bet she is over the moon! I know though that you as her mom are a little sad. I am SO not looking forward to that day. We never really went through that with Lynn because she was never conventional when it came to dating. We didn't want her dating till she was 16 and then that is when all the stuff hit the fan and she got in so much trouble she didn't really have the opportunity to act like a normal teen. So I have yet to experience a "normal" situation. I am SO not looking forward to the day my girls start doing that. We switched phone services and the girls are using our old phones till the contracts run out next month and they ALREADY have boys calling! UGH! SO not looking forward to that LOL.

Anyway I have spent all morning going through the girls play room. They each have their own room and then we have this tiny middle room that started out as shelby's room when she was a baby but it is SO small that when Lynn still lived here the girls actually shared a bedroom and Lynn had her own room and we just made that room into a spare room with all their junk cuz it was so dinky. After 11 years the 3 of them have accumulated quite a bit of junk to say the least so I told them before they get any NEW stuff on Christmas we need to purge the old. It took several large black trash bags but we got a lot accomplished. We have trash bags and goodwill bags but a lot was weeded out! WHEW! ;)

Anyway I am now just debating if I want to go out and actually leave the house to get my hair cut. I desperately need one and would like to check the mail BUT I don't really FEEL like it. We shall see. :)

Anyway hope everyone has a good rest of their day and talk later! :)

Becci, clean out your PM box please. :)

Done! :thumbsup2

Morning everyone! Can't believe I have two days left to get everything done.

Heather, so glad you your IEP went well. :) All four of my kids have had an IEP at one time or another (and two currently do) - it's not often you can get everyone to agree on a plan.

Doing lots of laundry today.:laundy: Went to Target and JCPennys last night and got my dh an ipod touch for Christmas. My sister, brother and I decided to go together and get our parents some nice luggage. They do alot of traveling.

Talk with you all later!

Happy Tuesday Divas!

i.

Welcome back Mel, we missed you. I'm surprised your beautiful DD has not had a date as of yet.

Hi Linda, The reason why she hasn't gone out, is because she wasn't allowed to until she was 16. And that is with our permission that we also like the young man. I know...........we are old fashioned, but my children have never complained about it. Works for me!!! :rotfl:

Good morning my Diva babes! :cool1:

Well I'm finally on a two week break from school. I had another reading/language arts lesson plan due yesterday, along with a weekly summary report, but everything is done and turned in. I am going to try to work ahead though during our two weeks off because I have another 6 reading/language arts lesson plans to write, and it's always nice to get ahead when you can. :thumbsup2

I mailed the last of my Christmas cards yesterday too, so for those of you who haven't received a card from me yet.....it's on the way! :goodvibes

I've been helping my mom as much as I can.....doing dishes for her.....Christmas shopping for the grandkids......delivering gifts to their neighbors for them......ordering flowers for them that they want to send to some friends in Arizona.....doing some of the laundry.....changing the sheets on the bed....etc.

Anyway, today I'm going to try to get ready for Christmas a little more. I will be baking up a storm here in the next couple of days, so I need to go to the store and get all my supplies. My boys are insisting I make a key-lime pie this year (along with apple, pumpkin, pecan, and huckleberry). Sure, why not. Nothing says Christmas like key-lime pie. LOL! :goodvibes
Ooh........I love Key Lime Pie!!!

Capri, you are one very busy and special lady. Please take care of yourself too.

Has anyone heard from January? :confused3

She hasn't signed up for anything, and I'm afraid she's going to miss out on a lot of fun meals and the scavenger hunt if she's coming.

Should we assume she's not coming?
I certainly hope not. :sad2:

Same with Wendy. :sad2:

Beth, I accidently erased your quote. I have been on the search, and would you believe that I just printed out a recipe from all.recipes.com for the cake. It starts with a box, which normally I don't do, but it had some of the highest ratings, so I'm going for it. It's this one.
http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Red-Velvet-Cake-III/Detail.aspx

Hi Ladies!
I'm back again.
I hope all is well with you.
I'm getting my house, and the food feast ready for company on Christmas Day. Also making room for my married ones to spend the night on Christmas Eve. It's so cute. They live in town, but still want to wake up with us. So we will be quite crowded, but all in all I am blessed. :grouphug: Our traditional breakfast on Christmas morning has to be Monkey bread.

Today my youngest baby Kaitlyn was officially asked out on her first date. :sad2: We happen to know the young man, so it does make it somewhat easier. He is very nice. Anywhos, the next step in her life has begun. How come our children can't just stay little? :confused3 I used to tell her when she was really little that she had to stop growing because I wouldn't be able to pick her up anymore and hold her. Her reply back was always, "But Mama, I'm supposed to get bigger." Now look at where she is. Can you tell, that this is hard for me? When I had her almost 11 years after my last DD Becky, I was so happy to have another baby around the house for a long time. Now that time is rapidly ticking away. :sad1:

Well enough about that.

Have a great day tomorrow.

Love, Mel:flower3:
Monkey bread is a Christmas morning staple for us too! We have a big brunch at my sisters every Christmas mid-morning. Everybody brings the same thing...my sister does a great egg dish, my brother does wonderful potatoe dish, the adult kids each bring a monkey bread, gramma brings fruit and what do I bring? Bacon & Sausage...LOL because my family is crazy about bacon (and sausage too!) lol

How exciting for Kaitlyn....I'm SO dreading this with Kallie in a few years...LOL

Isn't it a wonderful feeling to sort thru and get rid of bags of stuff!! YAY

I hope you all are able to sit and take a moment to reflect on your family & friends and this holiday season! Its so easy to run yourself ragged and miss some of the little things. I'm trying REALLY hard to do that. I still have things on my list and wrapping to do, but thats ok!!

It is SUPER windy and cold today. We even had rain thru the night...alert the media!!! I like it better then 80 degrees and sunny....I can wear my snuggly sweatshirt & Uggs all day :)

Hugs to all!!

just to clarify the tampon comments.......so nobody thinks I'm whacked! When I asked Katie for a few ideas for her kids....her daughters first request was tampons!! It was funny and heartbreaking all at the same time. So I really wanted to wrap up tampons, but felt a bit awkward about her opening them up on Christmas morning! LOL

Wow girls! Our trip is coming up fast! It's already going to be January soon!

Cristabel, we're doing tamales too!

Donna, thank you for finding out what time Disney Dining opens Saturday. I was wondering too. I need to set my alarm to wake up and call. Percy Jackon is about this boy who finds out he's the son of the Greek god Poseidon. It's fantasy and adventure and is an independent reader book (like Harry Potter). The story is a bit similiar to HP and I'm not sure if I like that (I LOVE HP). But so far I'm into it and I want to finish the series (there are 5 total books). They made a movie already off the first book, I believe it comes out next March.

Mel, yay for Kaitlyn. I was 15 when I went on my first date. My parents wouldn't let me date until I was 15. That's scary about the phone call from your house. When there's a storm do the lines get mixed or what happens? I'd be freaked out!

Vicki, I'm glad you got to listen to your grandma's service.

Yeah, where are Wendy and January? I've been thinking about them...

 Capri, You're a very busy Mom and daughter! Make sure you take a few minutes to sit and enjoy the holidays:hug:

 :happytv: Go Mel!!!
:lmao:

Great list!

Vicki, so sorry to hear about your Grandma and that you won't be spending the holidays with your family:hug: Glad to see you were able to be a part of the service, even if it was just by phone.

Jane: I got your card today, Ty is a cutie!

12) Get a bag of super-duper extra yummy candy for the candy buffet. ;) :goodvibes

I ordered a lime green shirt online.....I think from Walmart.....or maybe it was Target. Anyway, I couldn't find any in the stores, so that is why I ordered one online. :thumbsup2

I didn't wear a lime green one. I wore yellow. It's all good. :goodvibes

YAY - I hid out in my bedroom today to wrap presents for our boys and it was so AWESOME! We had a few gifts wrapped up and under the tree before my lunch with Debra (and getting Diva punk'd)......and those few gifts were going to be it for their Christmas except a few small stocking stuffers and some candy from Santa. Seriously. But now our boys are going to have such a wonderful Christmas thanks to all of you. Can I just say, you all are truthfully that best, most thoughtful people I've ever known. Justin and I are so grateful. :grouphug:

I was able to get Luke some Lego Space Police sets (Geesh, Legos are expensive!). And Ryan really wanted a clock radio for his room, along with the Terminator Salvation Movie, some new winter gloves and a hat, some jammie pants, and a couple of video games. I also bought Luke some Transformers, Transformer Walkie Talkies, a couple of Sponge Bob videos, a new light saber, and new jammies. And they both wanted some Bionicles (love these because they don't cost a lot) and some Nerf guns. Oh my gosh....isn't that cool! I'm so excited! :yay: :santa: :yay:

And then receiving my big surprise gift box from a mysterious and sneaky Diva Elf......I mean......that was just the best!

I can't wait until I can someday pay it forward! It'll happen! ::yes:: :thumbsup2

Now on to the baking!

I can't believe that the dining arrangements will be made starting this week!! Time is flying by.

Today is my last full day at work. Tomorrow I am only working part day. I still have so much to do. And I am only about a quarter of the way packed up.

Cristabel and Courtney.....we also did tamales. Can't wait till the 25th to eat them though.

I have reminders all set for making the reservations this weekend.

I won't be making my shirts until a week or two before the trip. I'm hoping to use these next five weeks to regain some sense of healthy eating and I hope my muscle memory holds out for my daily 45 minute walks

I have my cousin's wedding on January 9th which gives me three full weeks to detox, get on a healthy eating plan and start working out. It's going to be hard since this week is Christmas but I'm pretty sure I can do it.

I have to start finagling with a budget for this trip. My only inflexible cost is the hotel. The only thing I need worry about is budgeting for my food, shirts and pillow case.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far. We were bushed today from being up all hours yesterday but we still cleaned the house. I still have to buy Diana's gift (either a gc to Target or Disney dollars), Tyrae's gift and wrap my Anais and my dad's gifts.

Hey everyone, did you get to read my post(s) on FB? Here's the skinny:

We left for the airport at 6:45am (Mesa Gateway, not Phoenix Sky Harbor, flying to Rapid City, South Dakota), checked in at 8:30am, weather delayed the flight from 9am to 10:15am, took off, turned around, landed back in Phoenix at 11:15am due to weather in South Dakota, rescheduled for 7:10pm takeoff, went to a nearby mall, had lunch and saw A Christmas Carol (would have been alot better in 3D), called at 5pm, re-rescheduled for 5pm TOMORROW!! WTH?!? And the heat in my house was turned off so now I'm cold anyways!!! Whoops, forgot one thing, Christine and I both upgraded our phones while we were shopping!!

What a pain! We're not even sure we'll get to fly out tomorrow, it's supposed to snow in Rapid City!!

Hugs to Vicki  And Mel, I know EXACTLY how you feel. Allyson is only 14, and I'm not really looking forward to the REAL first date. It was hard enough with Christine, but Allyson is my last :sad1:

I sent a message to Wendy and January on FB, too.

Hope everyone has a great Christmas!! And try not to chat too much in the next week or so!!

Anyshos, Dave gets up and puts on some shorts quick a minute cuz he was buck naked. :rolleyes1

TMI!!!! TMI!!!!!!

Oh gosh! I hope your flight gets out ok tomorrow. What a bummer? (but good about your phone)

Ok, I am totally NOT ready for Christmas. No way no how. A friend had told me his daughter's shoe size and it turned out to be wrong! So now I have too small shoes--I went to Target today to try to replace them with the right size and they were out of them. :headache: so I'm going to try another Target tomorrow. NOT what I needed. And clients are going crazy--of course.

Vicki--I'm glad that you were able to at least listen to your Grandma's service.

Sally emailed me today--they are back home, but exhausted so she said we would "talk" tomorrow.

Love to all the Divas (and Stacerita good luck on your "last" day at your old job tomorrow!)

Cheryl

Cheryl, Ha ha! That happens to be his apparel every night. Sorry if that is too much TMI! :guilty:

You are so sweet to buy presents for your friends DD. I hope she really appreciates all the trouble you are going through to get the right size. :goodvibes

I wonder if Sally received her package yet? Has she or Bob said anything to you? How does Sally sound to you? I think about them all the time. :sad1:

And Beth, we did not watch TV last night, so there! :snooty:

Stacie/rita, Have a great last day tomorrow. I hope your new job is the best!:cool1:

Stacie, So you are one of the people we are hearing about on the news and the horrible weather conditions. That is the pits! I hope you can get out tomorrow. Take care and have a Merry Christmas! :santa:

Oh Stacielee, what a day! But it sounds like you made the best of it.:)

Mel, I would be freaked out by the Sheriff's at my door, too. I don't know if I mentioned it but my co-worker is from Tulare. She is part of a "Dairy Family". In fact she lives on a non operating dairy in Ontario. She tells me stories all the time and I think of you.:goodvibes She said she can't imagine a better life than her childhood.

Cheryl - that would stress me out - all that last minute shopping. you are a brave, brave woman!

Capri, you are just the epitome of "great friend". That's why we all love you! Sounds like your boys will have a great Christmas morn.

January and WendyLouWho better come. I have really missed them on the boards.

All of you involved in tamale making, please ship a dozen out to my house. There's nothing like a tasty homemade cheese or pork tamale. Yummmm.

Night all - only 3 more days till Christmas.:)
