My grandma passed away yesterday, as hard as it was for everyone to let her go she was ready to go and with her pelvis broken there was no way she would recover. She also was having problems breathing and she did not want to be on a respirator so they gave her pain meds to keep her comfortable and she told my dad that she was ready to go.:sad1: She would have been 94 tomorrow and she lived a full and happy life. I was really torn if I should fly back to CO for her services which are tomorrow. Quick I know but they wanted to have it on her birthday and really it was difficult to get there by tomorrow for me. They live in a remote area in SO CO and I would have flown into either Denver or Albuquerque and driven the 4 hours each way and I then would have come back here on Wed. My parents told me they did not expect me to go and I did go and visit her before I moved to CA. :guilty: But anyway I am sad that I cannot be there with my family and regardless of their age it's difficult but I know she is happy and pain free where ever she is. My grandpa is still alive and he is 96 and in fairly good health. He is my last living grandparent. I feel very lucky that I had the chance to know all of my great grand parents except for one set and I've had all my grandparents in my life for a long time.

 Sorry for your loss

Not sure if I have one for that, we only have PCs, not Macs. If you know if the power cords are the same, let me know.
:confused3 I have no idea, I'll have to check that out.

We had Nathan's IEP meeting and I got everything I wanted and asked for. I'm so relieved that it's over. I think he'll really flourish there. The school is 100% included, so he'll be treated like every other child.

I hope everyone has a great day!

:woohoo: That's great news!! I know you've been trying really hard & stressing trying to get the help he needs. I glad to hear your hard work has paid off.

Good morning ladies !

I went to Disneyland yesterday to get our AP's replaced & it was pretty darn packed :scared1:. We had a good time just walking around and seeing all the lights and decorations.

I then met up with Jill & she was sooooo nice to give my family a bunch of Christmas gifts :flower3:. My kids were super excited to have some gifts and I'm having a hard time keeping them from opening them . Even the baby is trying to open them. It's funny because she's never opened a gift before, but she still somehow knows that are meant to be opened .

Also, Jen was sweet enough to send my family a gift card to Applebees even though she's all the way in Switzerland!! Thanks so much!!

Jill, Jen, Beth, MaryJo, Callie, Jane, Theresa, Stacie(lee), Cheryl, Steph, Linda, Deb, Courtney, Tracey, Mel, Sarah May, Amy, Tina, Wendy & Bree- thank you so much for bringing some joy to my family this holiday season! I get all emotional everytime I think how kind you all are to me while I'm having such a hard time. When I get back on my feet, I'll owe you all a drink

OK, I have to share!

I am getting the coolest Christmas gift! I found the coolest 1950's solid maple table and chair set on craigslist for $75. I decided to look it up because it's a Heywood-Wakefield whalebone table with stingray chairs, and I found a set for sale at an antique center for $5000!!! I can't believe it. DH is picking it up tonight. There is a china cabinet that matches it that I want now. I'll have to start watching craigslist again. I'm going to have DH ask if they have any of the matching pieces first though.

Here's the link to the ad in case you want to see it: http://tucson.craigslist.org/fuo/1511568660.html

Stacie, you know what would be perfect art for my new dining room? Your Shag pictures! I'm just sayin....

Wow...I just looked at the link and what a great table. I love the style. I hope you are able to find the china cabinet. Merry Christmas to you!

I thought about Dawn and her family all day. It was really a melancholy day for me.

I purposely kept myself busy so I wouldn't think about it. I had some friends' kids over and we made cookies. OMG--a 3 y.o., a 7 y.o. and a 10 y.o. My kitchen looks like a decoration shop exploded in it! I also made a yummy pasta and turkey meatball dish for dinner. Of course--all the kids wanted just buttered pasta. So I have a TON leftover. I could barely move this morning! Sally will be back tomorrow . . . . .
Good morning,, Divas. Are you ready for Christmas? I think we are finally.

My grandma passed away yesterday
Vicki I am so sorry about your Grandma. It's been a hard year for all the Divas I think. (and I love the Melting Pot too--we shared a main course and then ordered an extra sausage serving because it is SO good!)

In fact we just watched a movie the other day where a family was having chocolate fondue for christmas and I saw some fondue pots on sale at target and I thought that would be fun but I wonder if it is a total pain in the butt to clean? I know the kids would LOVE it. But anyway Vicki big ((hugs))
I don't think they're that hard to clean. What type of heat source did these use? I agree with Tina that electric is the best.

Cheryl, I think we figured out your wild thing! You're Tiger Woods new mistress, aren't you?!?
You know me too well--but I'm totally not digging on his broken tooth . . . .

Vicki  Heather's idea of listening in on the phone is a good one.

Hi everyone!

!

That is wonderful news. Also great find on the table!

I checked the Melting Pot website since I was there 6 years ago. They are franchise so the prices could vary. I see now they do have an ala carte ordering possibility. When I went there about six years ago there was only the choice of buying a three or four course meal and you could not buy one meal and split it. I think they still only allow spliting certain orders like the cheese fondue ($16 for two, $8 per additional person). You can look up the menu for the one closest to you.

Kelly, the fondue pots you buy are usually teflon coating for easy cleaning. You want electric.

Jill, your purse is so cute!

Okay, starting the New Year, those of us with wii fits getting dusty are going to dust them off.

Hope everyone has a good Monday!
Yes, lets all get our WiiFits out, dust them off and get our butts in gear :)

Hi everyone!

Vicki , I'm sorry about your Grandmother. It's hard to know that you can't be there. DH's brother died earlier this year, and he couldn't make it back to AL. He did listen in to the service though on the phone. Maybe you could do that?

I hate IEP's and the stress they can cause. Yay, for having a good one and getting what you want/need for your son!!

It was great to see you and the kids Katie! I hope they enjoy our gifts. It was fun to shop for them and for us all to wrap them, and I think it is very important to teach my kids the reality that not every kid gets what they want or gets anything sometimes. My kids are by no means spoiled and I make them work for things they want and earn things. Kallie was devastated at the thought of your kids (or any kids) not having a gift to open for Christmas. It made her much more aware that this wasn't just a toy drive, which we always participate in, but it is not as personal because you don't see the faces of the kids or understand their lives. This was a real family, that we know, and I could tell she really "got it". I hope this teaches continued compassion and helpfullness to my kids. I'm thrilled to be able to help you and your family and I wish you guys a very Merry Christmas! ( It was all I could do, not to buy your daughter tampons!! LOL)

Happy Monday and 1st day of Winter to you all!
I work today and tonight, Wed day & night and Thurs morning at the office and then I'm off until Saturday :) I can do it, I can do it!! I've lost my Christmas lists.... I'm really hoping I didn't leave it sitting on my desk or out in the open somewhere. So thats first on my list when I get home!! I have lots of wrapping to do still, but thats about all.

The it's 60 Minutes and the Suvivor Finale. I can't wait!
I've been so busy I haven't even watched last Thursday's show let alone the finale!!

I don't even know who this is??? :confused3
I'm sure by now you've Googled her, but my favorite movie of hers was Little Black Book. She was so young. What a shame.

They are having a pajama party, gee sounds familiar LOL, and they are doing pizza and dessert so it will be fun for them.
Pajama party? Hmmm, what a great idea. ;)

Oh, and no need to ever buy me a drink. Just have a Merry Christmas.

Happy Monday and 1st day of Winter to you all!
Wow, first day of winter. Here it's sunny, and around 60 today. Not a bad winter at all. :thumbsup2

Good afternoon ladies!!

Well, all is back to normal here. Ruben's family has gone home, and the house is quiet again. At least as quiet as it can be with all four kids home. ;)

I have oodles of laundry to catch up on, and then the kids want to bake and decorate sugar cookies.

I'm going to send out PMs to those who are making reservations just so we are all on the same page about what needs to be done and when, especially for the Carnation Cafe reservations.

Have a great Monday!! Christmas is almost here!!! :cool1: :yay: :santa:

Afternoon gals. Katie that is so awesome what Jill did for you and your kids!! I am so glad that she was able to do that and I bet ALL the kids involved got a lot out of it!

Beth I am glad you had a nice visit with Ruben's family and hope you have fun baking cookies. I posted some pics on FB of mom and the girls baking yesterday. They had a blast!

Thanks to everyone who gave me advice about the fondue pot!! With our current economic situation that is something we certainly don't need right now but when things get better I am going to look into it cuz I think the kids would really enjoy it and I KNOW I would :)

I had a rather interesting morning. I drove in to work and was sitting at the intersection red light and it had been red awhile and this car on the opposing street just comes FLYING through the intersection. I am thinking what the HECK when the cars on the opposite side starting making the left turn onto my street. It was a double turn lane and they all started swerving around this dude. He slams on his brakes and then realizes he is in a huge mess. So he floors it and then hits an old man. I was like WHAT!! It happened like 10 feet straight in front of me! There was glass and plastic and metal that just eploded everywhere in front of me. I looked at the people in the turn lane next to me and they were just kind of stunned and we were all shaking our heads. I immediately called 911 and then I made a u turn and came back and offered to be a witness for the old man. He was moving on top of it and the kid hit him in the back of his car where all his stuff was. I felt so bad for him. I hope none of his stuff got broke! RIGHT where his truck got hit was his tv! Anyway LUCKILY no one was hurt although the kid was 17 and alone so they took him to the hospital just in case (I guess that is a law) and myself and 2 others gave witness statements. CRAZY!

Anyway now I am home and just hanging out till it is time to take the girls to their party.

Have a great day everyone and talk later!

Well, the table was too good to be true. They left off a zero on the price, and I just can't spend $750 on a table right now. She did lower the price to $600, but it wasn't meant to be. Oh well, it gave me something to be excited about for a time this morning.

Heather - that stinks! I'm so sorry..... Don't they proofread what their ad says??? Here's hoping that something even better will come up for you :thumbsup2

I jump in here and skim every so often....

Tonight we are going to the Melting Pot for my work 'Christmas Party...just Mr. CA and me...it'll be fun!

Enjoy!! What do you order there?? We have one less than five minutes from my house and we've never been because I don't know what it ir or what to order.

We have one nearby, and go every once in awhile.

We have never bought the big meal. We don't go for their official special occasions where you have to order the big meal.

I just looked up the menu for the one in Vegas...

3 pages into the menu you get into the non-special meal stuff.

If we were going tonight, we'd get the Cheddar Cheese Fondue for the two adults, and if they wanted to charge for DS we'd pay for the third person.

We *might* get the salad, but would probably just get one and covertly share it.

We've never gotten the entree, but now we're both working out regularly and might have room for it, and of course we'd choose the vegetarian option. But that would add quite a bit to our order, and frankly we'd just rather gorge on cheese fondue, I'd have a beer, and then order dessert.

If DH's blood sugar was good (and it almost always is, he's now hitting the 70s with exercising...still no medicines, just diet and exercise! and cinnamon!) and he felt like it, we'd then order the chocolate fondue dessert. They always have a TON of fruits on that (we'd order for 3), and sometimes the server will bring even more fruit at no charge, especially since we don't get the marshmallows.

Although we've never gotten the actual entree, our meals are incredibly filling and very tasty, and while not something we can do all the time, the bill isn't all that painful, either.

So depending on how hungry the two of you are, and if it's a day that requires an entree...you could come out of there with a relatively low bill.

What about Skype? Then you could actually see the services.

Hello! We are back from our cruise! I'll try to post some pictures later!

Welcome home! I hope you had a great time, and I can't wait for pictures!!

What a bummer, Heather. But congrats on the great IEP!

Jill and Jen--You are two very nice ladies!

Beth--Can you please add my mom and me to the Cafe Orleans meal?

Well, my break is over. Back to the kitchen. See ya later, girls!
