:yay: I'm excited & had to share........I may get to go on the trip!!!! :cool1:

2 BIG concerns for me going...... 1. Who would watch the kids & 2. money
Well I got #1 figured out....my 22 yr old says he'll just take that week off from work so I can go.
Now as long as I can take advantage of the Alaska Airlines $100 round trip before it ends (any one have any idea how long this deal will be available??) I may be able to financially figure out how to pay for this.

I still have the obstacle of my hubby pouting & saying "you can't go to Disneyland with out me".....blah blah blah....... but this is easiest of the dilemmas.

Hooray :woohoo:

YAY!!! That is so awesome! You deserve it for sure, and I'm so happy you're coming! :cheer2:  :cheer2:

Finally, after writing my paper all day, I only have the conclusion left. YAY! :thumbsup2

Good job, lady! I have to give you major kudos. I don't know how long it would take me to write a paper if I had to do it now.

:goodvibes Great job!

Rats I won't have the money by then..... Hopefully something else will come up??

I'm certain there will be more deals in the near future. Which airport are you flying out of? Any preference on where you want to fly into?

My "Reading Remediation Plan" paper is offically done and turned in! Whew! :woohoo:

But I still have to answer Saturday's discussion question and make 2 contributions to the discussions. UGH! I'm just going to write whatever comes to mind. I'm tired with school work for the day, and I just don't want to dive into these discussions too much today. My brain can't take much more.

Good job!
I have done 1 final, 3/4 of the second final and my brain is on overload!!
I will finish the rest of it tonight and then start to study for my last final on Wednesday.

So I was just at Dollar Tree and looking at their cheapo wreaths and decorations and was thinking to myself, Hey, I could make one of those Mickey wreaths like Trudy. So I started putting it together in my head and gathering up different size wreaths and colored ornaments, and then I pictured myself at home with all this stuff and a glue gun and I could feel my pulse racing and my blood pressure rising, so I put it all back.
That is so me! I used to love to make things but now whenever I sign up to make something with the ladies at church, even though they make it so easy by preparing everything and showing us how to do it, I get started and then think "what have I gotten myself into? Can I just give you money for the one you already made, because mine never comes out anything like it!"

And about me...well I'm born and raised in Switzerland and have a couple of st bernard rescue dogs and bell wearing cows. I make chocolate and cheese and enjoy yodeling. My children milk cows and my husband scales mountains. I learned English watching World of Disney as a child.

Hooray!! It would be great if you could get in on the Alaska deal - I wish now that I had waited and saved some money, but I have learned that it is better to book when the fares seem pretty good because sometimes they only go up. It's like gambling I guess. I am flying JetBlue into Long Beach; their fares are down now as well but I don't know for how long. Hopefully you will find a good deal when you are ready to book.

We're expecting rain.....yes RAIN...tomorrow and on and off all week. To most of you..this is no big deal! To Southern California, its HUGE! We're on storm watch already, waiting for that first drop to hit. I can't wait, I LOVE rain! We'll probably do our other outdoor decor once storm watch is over!
This is what I have been seeing for the past week, and we are leaving for DL in 5 days! Figures that I finally get out of the Pacific Northwest for a few days, and it is supposed to rain every day we are there! I keep trying to be positive about it, like it should keep the crowds down, but I would rather have warm sunny weather and deal with the crowds. At least I will get away for a few days from the below-freezing temps we are suppose to be having.

So I will take a turn introducing myself. I am Carol and I will be celebrating my 54th birthday on the Diva trip. I was born and mostly grew up in Arizona. I have been married to Mike (2nd time for both of us) for 21 years. We have three kids; Rob 29, Lisa 27 (married to Tim with a 6-month old :cloud9:), and Bryan 17. I am an accountant and currently working at a private golf club 10 minutes from my house. A few years back I took some time off during which I went to travel school but nothing really came of that; I am hoping someday to use it somehow in my work or on the side. Mike is a psychologist - he would tell you that your foil hat is generally worn as a cap under your regular hat. Bryan started community college at 15 and will be transferring to University of Oregon as a junior when he is 18. He is one of those expensive kids that does so well with what you give him, you want to give him more. ;) This will be my first Diva trip and I am looking forward to meeting everyone!

Ok I guess I will introduce myself...

I am Deb, 31 I live in the desert of Eastern Washington. I have two kids Jordan 13 & Kaeleb 9 & my BF Laramie/Brucee 33. We met at work, he is an electrician (& part time farmer with his dad & brother) and I was the clerk in the maintenance dept. I have been a part time student for the last 3 years and in May I stopped working fulltime (scariest thing I have ever done) and I am now a fulltime student and I work part time. This is my 2nd trip Diva trip. I lurked around and commented about coming on the first trip, but I was much to shy to join a bunch of women I didn't know and go spend my vacation time with strangers. But this year I decided what the heck. I surely hoped that Wendall was really a Wendy, phew she was.
Oh ya so about me I am a student hopefully going into the nursing program or radiology. I love to travel, I went the girls only trip to Vegas.

Oh and my teenager may or may not survive his teenage years.....:rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

So my happiness was short lived....I'm really tired of riding this rollercoaster!!
Mike's new job with Safeway is not working out....they are using him as a meat-cutter & paying him minimum wage. We feel they're taking advantage of him. He got his first full check & only made $6 over unemployment & that doesn't included the 25 mile round trip daily....so we're actually losing money now.
My mom & step-dad have decided to step in & help us out again...this is where the excitement of the trip gets turned upside down: my step-dad has asked us to cut things out of our budget until things turn around for us. Since he's financially kicking in to help us.....there is absolutely no way I could go on this trip with out getting my butt kicked majorly!!! So unless Mike's job pays him journeyman wages, things are looking bleak for going.

I think I'll run away.....or since I'd miss my kiddo's way to much to do that.....I'll just pull a blankie over my head & pout!! (I'm really good at the pouting thing.....can get the bottom lip going.....lol)

Sorry for having you all ride this out of control roller coaster with me! You've all been wonderful!!

*HUGS* Laurie. That really stinks about your husband not being paid what he should be. I hope things work out prior to the trip in hopes you're able to come but I completely understand if you're not able to come. I think we all can agree that sometimes being responsible adults just stinks.

I would not stress over the weather at all. Yeah, sure you may get some rain (or so they say on the news), but our rain compared to everywhere else in the US....isn't a big deal to others. We get super excited when it sprinkles...so "we" (So Californians) tend to blow "storms" out of proportion! And yes, the locals will scatter like cats when the rain starts. Grab a poncho and enjoy the parks :)

ahhhhh, so sorry. Hey maybe things will change again for the better and you can come?? I'm very happy for you that the inlaws are helping out. I hope that relieves some stress for you guys, especially during the holidays :)
If you don't check out the budget boards yet...do so, as they are pretty good at saving money (some are a bit wacky ;)
Can you have yard sales or sell stuff on craig list/ebay? We've worked really hard this past year at not buying extra stuff and getting rid of stuff we don't use or need anymore, along w/ eating out alot. It gets easier as you go, especially when you write down everything you spend money on and see how much is wasted here and there. Best wishes to you guys :)

You're sick and you still watch TV??? WOW!! You are a super-woman!! :worship:

Hi Ladies. Just yodeleeheehooing in from der Schweiz. Ich spreche Deutcshe ser guht, ja?

Jen, I know you will get a job! They would be crazy not to utilze your brilliance. Cool story about St Nick!

Oh shoot, well that's just a bummer! I'm glad that your parents are helping you out, but......you've had just such a tough year, I was really crossing my fingers for you so you could come. Well, no matter. I'm still crossing my fingers (and toes) that you find a way to come and that things for you and your family will majorly improve! :wizard:

Good Morning Babes! :cool1:

Well, thank goodness yesterday is over. That was one loooooong day of school work. I have more school work today. I have to write a few paragraphs for my team paper and then I need to make two contributions to our class discussions, but all of that won't be too hard or take too long.

So, I guess today I will catch up on some laundry and get going on doing my Christmas cards. Oh, and I better wrap up a few presents for the boys and put them under the tree.....they've been asking, "But mom, where are the presents?" while batting their long eyelashes and looking up at me with their sweet, angelic little faces. Good thing I managaged to get a few things to wrap up for them. :goodvibes

Hii girls! I'm home! And I'm exhausted. DL was fun, kind of cold, not too crowded except for Friday and I have a lot of laundry to do. I missed you guys and I'll catch up laters! Hope everyone is well!

Drive by hi. Jill, that is so gross over the slimfast recall. Jen, love the Swiss santa story.

Everyone have a great day and if you're healthy, enjoy and celebrate your health!!

Good morning!

Laurie, I'm so sorry things have been so tough for you and your family. But never say never, right? You never know what great job is right around the corner.

It is cold here! We're getting ready to head up to the mountains for our annual tree-cuting party with our friends, and I think I'm actually going to need the very warm cozy hat my parents brough back to me from Estonia. It's one of those hat/scarf combos, made out of wool. Then we'll decorate out tree this afternoon and just chill. Amazing Race is on tonight, which is one of my faves, so we'll watch that.

Have a great day, ladies, and try to stay warm.

Welcom home, Courtney! I'm glad you had a good time. I can't wait for a full report from you!!!
