Heather, will have to find it....
Mary Jo, thank you for that link!

I guess out there everyone is shopping?

Good morning girls! I'm eating a leftover turkey sandwich.

We didn't go BF shopping. I'm trying to save my money for DL and I didn't want to wake up early. I think my Mom may go to Wal-Mart later and see what's left.

I hope everyone had a wonderful day yesterday. I thought about Dawn and her family a lot. I've been thinking about it her a couple times throughout each day and I really miss seeing her post.

Jill, I'm saying prayers for your family. I hope your DH and son get better really soon and no one else gets sick! :flower3:

Mary Jo, thank you for posting that link.

Not me. I'm eating custard pie and coffee for breakfast. Yuuummmmy! We're getting ready to drag the Christmas decorations out.

I got out my boxes of decorations last night and dh and I put up almost all of the decorations and disney christmas dishes! It has been a couple years since I got them out but I really feel it is the right year for it! Supposedly DH is going to put up our christmas lights for the first time today. We bought some clear C-9 strings of lights and dbil is coming over with a ladder today to help him. It is actually not raining which is a miracle so hopefully it will all work out! The decorations are slightly altered this year because dd is 17 months old and I can't put too much down where she can get it so we are having to relocate our stockings and things of that nature. I also need to get rid of some furniture....it seems to have accumulated this year. DD's jumparoo is going to a friend who has a daughter younger than mine.

Have a great day all...I am working a double today...3 hours down, 13 to go.

Sarah

We just finished brunch and we have NO plans to leave the house unless it's to get our Christmas tree from Wal-mart and I'm avoiding the crowds by using the garden entrance. If we don't go today we'll go tomorrow. We planned it for this weekend because it's when all of us are together before finals.

Afternoon ladies. I am back from my shopping and we did pretty well I think. We just went to target and to Penneys. I got some socks that both Shane and I needed which weren't on sale and mom and I both picked up a few movies that were only 3.00! Mom bought a tv that she needed for her bedroom up in Truckee. We want to get a new one too cuz we have an old fashioned big box of a tv in our room that takes up half the room and we want a flat screen but I think we only need like a 20 inch and of course shane wants something bigger. They had a few 26 inch ones for 200 something and one 32 inch for 200 something but of course that one was sold out already.

We are still looking obviously! Mom picked up a few more things for the girls and then we headed to penneys where they had 60% off most of their stuff and I got some great clothes for the girls and some nice bath towels for 2.00!! So we did well I think.

Now I am home and waiting for them to come get us.

80 was closed earlier but hopefully it will clear up long enough for us to get up there.

Tina have a blast in Yosemite. Don't know if there is any snow yet but it is SO beautiful when there is.

Court and Cristabel have a good day (and Donna too ;) )

I don't know if I will get a chance to post up there otherwise I will be back Sunday!

Have a good weekend!! :)

So the sun came out this morning & the Christmas decorations went up!! We can't put lights on the house since its so tall, but my yard and porch are loaded with lights and Christmas cheer!!

Avoided the stores...have no interest in dealing with large rude crowds!! There isn't a deal out there worth it to me to do that. Hoping those who did it....survived & found something "joyful" in doing so......I've just found that the Christmas spirit doesn't seem to be out there on Black Friday.

Have a great Friday!!

PS: I got my first Christmas card today from the exchange!! Thanx Sarah!!!! :cloud9:

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Jill, I hope your family gets well soon, and you don't come down with anything.

For anyone who's interested, one of my cousins here in El Paso told me that the El Paso Times has Dawn listed with an online guestbook, so I went and found it. If you feel like signing you can go here.

Thanks for the link.

Hope everyone is enjoying their day. Im stuck working today. Ack!

Hello ladies!!!

Are we all still stuffed from our yummy Thanksgiving meals? Or just tired from all that early morning shopping? ;)

Well, whatever is on your to do list for today and this weekend, I hope you have a good one. Be safe if you are traveling anywhere. Enjoy time spent with family and friends. That's what I've been doing. And now I'm off to meet up with Marcie, Cheryl and Linda in a bit.

See y'all later. :grouphug:

Just back from Black Friday shopping left this morning at 3:30am and now its 2:40pm. Don't know why I do it, the crowds drive me nuts!! Got my first christmas card today from Sarah May (Sahbushka) it is very cute! I also got my stocking exchange gift today. Going to be hard to wait until the 12th though but I will. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Woke up with a chest cold yesterday but was able to get dinner together and fed the many bodies at the homestead! Well off to get a shower and a friends openhouse tonight! Over to Central University in the am to watch football in 30 degree weather. So excited to drive over the pass and back in one day but thats what you do to make hubby happy watching his college team.

Have a great weekend and hopefully I will get to decorate some this weekend.

I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving.

:hug:Jill. I hope your dh and son are feeling better.

I am exhausted!. I left my house just before 2 this morning and didn't get home until about 45 minutes ago (12 hours of shopping  and driving time). We were able to almost finish our kids' gifts and we also took advantage of a few really good bargains. The kids got to visit with Santa and we had pizza for lunch. I'll post their picture w/ Santa in a bit.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Sounds like everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. Ours was wonderful. I was so happy with how everything turned out. I didnt' realize it but it was the first time I did the Holiday dinner completely on my own, well with Chris' help of course. We always did dinner at my sisters house before they moved. We were all just way too stuffed for dessert so we skipped it. Thank goodness my parents are coming back over for leftovers tonight so hopefully we'll do dessert tonight.

So get this....Ayden has not stayed overnight at my parents house in well over 3 years. In fact...he has not been away from me overnight in almost 3 years. (That's the last time his dad took him overnight, go figure). Anyway.......my parents let him stay with them last night so Chris could go black friday shopping with me this morning. I was sooooooooooooo thankful. Ayden was getting nervous when we were packing up his clothes telling me he might change his mind. But he did it and I'm so proud. Grandma let him stay up until MIDNIGHT! I was asleep by 11 and we were up at 3. We were at Wal Mart by 3:45 and in line to pay before they even opened the registers. Interesting how they had them all open 24 hours. People already had a bunch of the sale items in their carts. :confused3 We got EVERYTHING on my list but one thing. We were off to Target which was a little more dissapointing since most everything was gone but to be expected. After that we hit Michaels and Jo'Annes so I could get some fabric to make Chris' parents a blanket. The fabric cutting took longer than anything else. We got a number and i was 28 and they were only on number 80. Took about 45 minutes until they called my number. Sheeeesh. This was Chris' first Black Friday experience and he didn't think it was much different than a Saturday afternoon in December. He never experienced a long line today! Lucky guy
Oh and I got some super cute boots at Kohl's!

My parents are coming over again tonight for leftovers. mmmm I discovered last night I really do love sweet potatoes! Yummmmmy

Hope you all are having a wonderful day.

You ladies are crazy to go out in those crowds for BF shopping. Our crazy shopping day isn't until after Christmas and I stay home. One girl I work with decided to cross the border yesterday and spend the evening and overnight shopping then came into work at 7am. She was exhausted but said it was worth it.

Steph: Cute picture of the kids and Santa!

Steph, I saw your pictures on FB. Really cute! They are getting so big!

We are getting ready to eat our thanksgiving dinner. It smells soooo good! DH thought he was helping and put the turkey drippings in the stuffing when I was going to make gravy, so who knows how the gravy will turn out! Oh well, the stuffing will be good! :lmao: I usually hate turkey but decided to do a breast this morning (It's just the 4 of us). I haven't had turkey in years, and it smells good!

I hope all you shoppers got some great deals! I've only gone out BF shopping once, and said never again.

We rearranged the furniture and are going to put up the tree after dinner if I'm not pooped out. We will see.

Thanks for the link MJ. I forgot that most papers do that now.

Step, your kids look so cute! Stacie, can't believe they made you work, they always do that to you it seems.

Heather, enjoy your Thanksgiving today. I can almost smell that turkey.
Kelly, thanks, it sounds like you did well.
Hi Courtney and anyone else I missed!
I am off to see Shakespeare. Beth, have fun with the gals!

Hi Girls

Thanks for all of the get wells. I am home now. I still feel terrible.
Physically my body feels like it has been run over by a frieght train.
I have had 4 blood transfusions and my hemoglobin is only up to a 9.
I am still dizzy & light headed once in a while and I feel shaky.
I am off work for the next 14 days. I guess I will have a lot of time to study for finals, decorate for Christmas, and be lazy? The best part....I can't even vacuum so someone else can do that.

Jill I hope your family starts feeling better.

I hope everyone had a good time shopping today.

Happy Black Friday!

I think you have to be young to get up, and go shopping in the wee hours of the morning. Youza! .

Would you believe that I have 2 Zhu Zhu Hamsters and 2 playthings to go with them? They retail for $8.00 each and now they are selling for up to $50.00 each. I also snagged the Playmobil Pyramid for $80.00 last month from Toyrus and now it is selling for $185.00 - 200.00!! :scared1:

Yep..........I am doing the happy dance. :cool1:

Now I have to figure out what to get for 3 young men in their late 20s. It was so much easier buying when my kids were little. My big girls are taken care of already. I still need to do Kaitlyn too.

I plan on getting it all done in Frisco next week. Woo hoo! I can't wait. We are taking the train, and staying right in Union Square. You can walk to everything, and take your gifts right back to your hotel room as you go. So much fun. Then on Wednesday night we are seeing "Wicked." If you have never seen Frisco during Christmas, you need to try it someday. The first time I was there, it was raining. Everyone had their umbrellas out, bags in hand, Christmas decorations galore all around. I felt like I was in the middle of a Christmas card.:cloud9: It was so neat. That was 6 years ago. Now it has become a tradition for my friends and I to go every year.

Beth, your Bread pudding sounds pretty good.

Here's mine.

Bread Pudding

5 large eggs
3 c. half and half
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. vanilla
10 c. cubed croissants (About 6 large ones)

Mix first 7 ingredients together and pour over cubed croissants in large bowl. Toss gently. Transfer to a greased 9" x 13" baking dish. Bake at 350* for 1 hour and 10 minutes, or until the middle is nice and puffy too. Let rest at least 5 minutes before cutting into.

Sauce
1 stick butter (no cheating)
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. cream
1 tsp. vanilla

Bring to a boil in saucepan for 3- 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Serve warm.

Drizzle over warm bread pudding. May also add a nice dollop of whipped cream. :goodvibes

Notes: I like to buy my croissants at Costco. A package from Costco will make a double recipe which I always make. I actually have my grandmothers old porcelain pan, that my mother said she always used to make bread pudding in it too.:cloud9: It's huge, so it can hold a double batch.

Stacerita, the rum recipe from Ohanas is absolutely wonderful too. I have made it 2 times. But it's scary!!! The flames rose up to the hood of my stove. Both times I took out the baking soda just in case. It also ruined my new pan. I scrubbed and scrubbed that thing. :headache: So I looked for another recipe that wasn't so intense!

This one is good, but of course it is lacking the good ole rum flambe' flavor.

For the rest of you. The original recipe does not use croissants, half and half and a few other little things. It does have pineapple and coconut in it. Which is really good too. But my family likes it just plain. Noooooooooo raisins either. :rotfl:

Bread pudding sounds pretty yummy right now.

Deb, I'm glad you're out of the hospital. Take it easy and get some much needed rest!

Melody I hope you have a great time in San Fran! When are you leaving?

Aren't some Divas heading to Las Vegas this weekend?

My Mom and I are going to go to Michaels right now. She wants to get some Christmas decorations. I want to go look at Kohl's (it's next door to our Michaels). There was a $10 off $20 or more coupon in our newspaper and I want to see what I kind find for $20! Hopefully the whole store isn't all torn up. :scared:

Deb, I'm glad you're out of the hospital. Take the time and let your body heal - let the boys take care of you for a bit :thumbsup2 Enjoy sipping tea and reading magazines, watching movies, just relaxing!

Beth and Mel - both bread pudding recipes look deeeeee-licious!! Anyone wanna come up here and make some for me??? Huh, huh?? We have a guest room :rolleyes1 You can bring home some real Canadian maple syrup :flower3:

I'm glad it sounds like everyone had a terrific Thanksgiving yesterday and shopping day today. Black Friday even sounds skeery to me :scared: Mel, I like your idea of going to San Francisco. Hey, idea for a ladies Christmas shopping trip to SF??? Woo hoo, I'd do it :woohoo:

My spa day was not quite as relaxing as I had hoped for :sad2: I had my underarms lasered (hair removal :upsidedow) and that was fine, not too painful and if it lets me not shave the pits for a while, I'm good with that :thumbsup2 But I had a new nail tech this time doing my manicure and she filed five of my fingers on the skin around the nails - three of them pretty bad and they still sting like the beejeebers now. Looks pretty with the little scabbies it left behind  Frank felt so bad for me this morning he was rubbing Polysporin on them - sweet guy!

Yay for the weekend  Here's hoping the Divas in Vegas have an awesome time :flower3:
