A Bread Pudding showdown huh Beth?

So this morning I started to type the recipe down, and then ran out of time, and had to leave. I just now was able to sit down for a minute, and finish it up. I go to post it, and the stupid site says I have to reload by pushing the back button. I do it 3 times, with no success. Finally I decided to refresh. MISTAKE! I lost everything I wrote. GRR!!

Now, I don't have the time. But I promise I will get it to you ladies. That and the Kentucky Butter Cake. As I type, it is baking in the oven. :goodvibes:goodvibes

So Beth, I am curious about your recipe. Mine is a kicked up version from WDW's Ohana's recipe, with some added spices too. I also changed up the sauce that goes with it.

Cheryl, I'm so glad you were able to talk to Sally. Please give her my regards and condolences.

Ladies, if any of you are planning on sending me something to give to Miss Sally, would you please PM me. I do not want to miss anybody.

Does anyone who lives in CA have a valid Entertainment Card I can borrow?? I booked the Hojo with the entertainment rate today for our trip next week, but now I need an entertainment card. All the stores near me sell the books for $35!! I just need the card and we leave Wednesday morning. I'm thinking of buying one off ebay, I found one seller in So CA, so it would get to me atleast by Monday. Any Diva have one I can borrow? And I'll mail it back when we come home?! :goodvibes :worship:

(I said anyone in CA since I'm thinking it would get to me faster, but I'm desperate! As long as it comes to me by Tuesday!)

Oh my gosh, Steph. You would be a life saver if you have it! Let me know, chica!

I have it. It hasn't been activated, does it need to be to use it a Howard Johnson's???:confused3

PM me your address and I'll drop it off in mail box tomorrow (it'll make it out first thing Friday morning).

Steph

PM going your way, Steph! Thank you again!

No, it doesn't need to be activated. They just look at it to see if the date is valid.

Evening all. I am back from New Moon and I must say it was interesting. Not quite what I expected. Shane and I both thought it was kind of long and drawn out but I get what they are doing (telling the story). I know that it is all going to make sense once you see all the movies together. I never read the books so don't know what to expect but I can kind of figure it out.

I did enjoy it but I have to agree with Tina in that it def was not my fav or not even that "great" but I am glad I saw it for sure to keep the story going. I def liked Twilight better though. Maybe cuz I have never read the books but I felt like as someone who has never read them that one had much more of a story line with a beginning, middle and end to where you didn't necessarily have to have another movie. This one you obviously had to have seen Twilight and it certainly left you hanging.

Anyway hope everyone is having a good evening and enjoying their baking/cooking prep for tomorrow and if I don't talk to anyone before I go to mom's or miss anyone that might not be on tomorrow have a GREAT holiday!

I hope everyone who is cooking Thanksgiving dinner has a restful night before tomorrow's chaos.

My mom is doing sapayo soup and green beans. I found out tonight that there will be NO mashed potatoes :scared1: and instead Daniela (my cousin's DFi) is making some potatoe dish. I'm sorry but mashed potatoes are a Thanksgiving staple!

Good night!

We went to meet both boys teachers last night and they both had great things to say.
:thumbsup2

I just wanted to be sure to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving. Love your family, love your friends and make more memories. Love to you all!:grouphug:
:goodvibes

I'm thankful that all of my family is still here, that I live in a country where I have so many freedoms and privileges, and that I have salvation through Jesus Christ.
:)

I am thankful that I have a roof over my head and food in my refridgerator and will have a lovely dinner tomorrow with family!
:thumbsup2

Hi ladies I am staying another night in the hospital.
The pain is under control now. My Hemiglobin is at a 9.5. That is a lot bettr than the 6.

I've tried that recipe too. It's good, and I like the sauce. The one I use is more custard-like, has raisins, but no sauce, just top with fresh whip cream. There are many good bread puddings out there............and some really bad ones. :scared: lol

I'm pooped. Tired of cooking/baking and already stuffed from "sampling". :rolleyes1

Have a good night ladies!!! :grouphug:

You make and actually LIKE a bread pudding that's custard like.....and with RAISINS?!! Hmmmmmmm, you're throwing me for a loop with this.

Well, if you do like your custardy bread pudding with raisins, then I KNOW you would like my raisin cream pie because.....it's really not cream.....it's a custard. Sooooooo, I guess you could call it raisin custard pie......or custard raisin pie.....or custard pie surprise - lol. I just call it raisin cream pie because that's what my mom always called it, but as I said, it's definitely a custard pie.

Thanks! That's what I'm going for - cheap and cheerful :rotfl2:

It looks great. Only doncha know you're not supposed to decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving? Oh yeah, your Thanksgiving is over!
:lmao:

Hi ladies I am staying another night in the hospital.
.

Deb, when I saw your fb last night, I was picturing you in ER (this was before you explained everything). I am so sorry you're in the hospital, now. I wish you were closer. But you've got internet access...

Sounds nice. :)

Hmmm, I have a killer recipe too, and have had many, many of Ruben's coworkers from three different hospitals in three different states, as well as countless family and friends tell me it's the best they've ever had. Care for a bread pudding throw down? :rolleyes1

.

Yeah! Actually, we need both of them.

My dh and I are so excited about this movie. You actually watched it with Robert Downey Jr.??? Lucky girl!

Well, ladies, I have a few precious hours here at home by myself to do some pre-Thanksgiving baking & cooking. We're having dinner at my dad's with some other family and friends of his. We're in charge of the potatoes (mashed and sweet), cranberry compote, jello salad and pies. Plus I am making mini pumpkin bread loaves to give out to all the guests. I better get busy!

Love to all and have a blessed Thanksgiving!

-Callie

It was a large screening room, with maybe 200 people. Downey was a surprise, he was outed by the director who was doing a Q and A afterwards. Downey stood up and started to be funny, then said, "Guy, this is your night." He has so much charisma (but is shorter than I pictured). His wife, who produced the film (she was a producer before she met him), was by his side. She is one of these un-Hollywood wives, wears glasses and looks like a real person. A great couple.

Richie cracked a joke about how she was the great woman behind Downey. Then he made a subtle joke about how he was the great man behind the woman (referring to his ex-wife). Either people didn't catch it, or they were too afraid it would be rude to laugh at that.

. My oldest sons teacher has a reputation for disliking boys
:

That seems so wrong.

One of my colleagues was supposed to join us as she is all alone out here, but we had a bit of a personal and professional falling out last week, and that's not going to happen now. Sadly she is leaving Las Vegas in just a few weeks for a new job elsewhere and I am afraid that our friendship is never going to recover :scared: I know that I should be the bigger person and that eventually I will be able to forgive, forget and move on, but right now I'm still hurting personally and trying to do damage control to my professional reputation, so I'm just too raw still if ykwim.
.

Oh, Jane, I missed this the first time around. I'm really sorry. That is such a hard place to be in.

Mel, don't sweat it, you have enough to do! I want these recipes sometime, but it doesn't have to be in the middle of a cooking marathon. ;)

:thumbsup2

Sounds so good, Beth! :thumbsup2

I caught the film Bright Star, a period piece by Jane Campion. So romantic...

RDJr has really made a big comeback from his drug abuse days and is an awesome actor. I'm excited to see Sherlock Holmes; he and Jude law look like a great pairing.

I'm excited for Ironman 2 but I'm bummed they replaced Terrence Howard.

Well it's technically Thursday so....

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

After we got home from the movie we all just sat around and were playing games on the computer and we were listening to old music and having a good time and then I eventually got to some songs that really made me think.

Based on everything that has happened this past week with Dawn and Deb and with Jill's Family you really never realize when something is going to happen and I was listening to Nickelback's If today was your last day and a few different lines really struck me and I feel like they are worth sharing and are something good to live by!

He said each day's a gift and not a given right

I love that line and it is SO true! Especially with everything that has happened!

The whole song is very poignant but this section is also very meaningful I thought!

So do whatever it takes
'Cause you can't rewind a moment in this life
Let nothing stand in your way
'Cause the hands of time are never on your side

I just think that this song reminds me of how precious and short life really is and esp with today being thanksgiving we should all be so thankful for all the blessings in our life no matter how small and never take ONE thing or day for granted. Happy Thanksgiving all and have a WONDERFUL holiday!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American Divas!!!! ..... And Happy Thursday to all the Canadian Divas - Angie :thumbsup2

Good night!

Cristable, if you need to have the mashed potatoes, why don't you make some to bring along?? I love mashed potatoes too, mmmmmmm.

Deb, take care and get lots of rest. I wish I was closer and I'd make you a Thanksgiving dinner (we could always use another one around here ;)

BTW - I'd like both bread pudding recipes to do a taste test (it would be even better if you could both make them and send them to me - hee hee!)

Well......... no turkey or baking in this house, so I'm going to have a bit of a spa day today (well, half a spa day). It's still raining buckets, so I'm not bothering to get a pedicure - who will see anyway??

Have a great day!

Thank you Callie, I just wish I could be more bold in sharing it with strangers. That's one thing I'm petrified of doing and it's not because I'm ashamed of my faith but because I'm afraid of sounding confused about my own faith as if I don't know what I believe. I'm still working on it. In my group, Campus Crusade for Christ, they go sharing on Tuesdays on campus but I'm always too freaked out to do it. I'm trying to work up the courage to try next semester.

I can totally understand that Cristabel. I was the same way when I was around your age.

So Beth, I am curious about your recipe. Mine is a kicked up version from WDW's Ohana's recipe, with some added spices too. I also changed up the sauce that goes with it.

My bread pudding recipe is also a kicked up version of Ohana's. And I make the sauce with Rum in it.

Just want to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Deb-:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:. Take care of yourself and get better soon. Hope they released you from the hospital so you don't have to have hospital food for Thanksgiving . My prayers are with you :flower3:.

Happy Thanksgiving y'all!!!

I just wanted to say that if even though I've had a really rough year, I'm still very thankful for my life.

I'm thankful for my health & my families health. I'm thankful that I still have a place to live. I'm thankful for my kids (they could be worse ), and I'm thankful for......

HAVING YOU ALL AS MY FRIENDS :hug::hug:.

Love this song Kelly...the lyrics you posted really say a lot. :flower3:

Happy Thanksgiving to my favorite Diva's...who are all beautiful inside and out. I hope you all have a wonderful day no matter how you choose to spend it.

Deb, I hope you're able to come home today. (((( hugs )))) You have been in my thoughts.
