So I have some bad news.
I had a miscarriage Monday night/ Tuesday morning. I lost a lot of blood. I had to have a D & C last night there was tissue stuck in my cervix and the pain was horrible. My hemoglobin was a 6. So I also got a blood transfusion.
This morning it was a 7 so I am now getting my 3rd bag of blood.
The pain has gone away with the help of my friend Demerol.
Oh Deb, I am so sorry. I'm worried about you. Is there anything I can do? Gosh, sometimes I just wish we all lived closer. We'd show up, take care of you, cook your turkey dinner, and you could focus on resting. Since that can't happen, will you settle for a hug? Take care sweetie.

I feel rather guilty and left out reading about all you cooking up a storm! We are going to Mr. CA's parents for Thanksgiving dinner and I've volunteered to bring something...anything but they say no, we have it taken care of.
Well then darlin, you just sit back, relax and enjoy! ;)

I am so sorry, Deb!! What else can happen to our group??? Or maybe I shouldn't ask!
Eek!! Are you nuts??? Take that back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1:

BTW, I saw the new Sherlock Holmes film last night with the director and lead actor seeing it for the first time as well. It is great fun, not your traditional Holmes, but a wonderful cinematic romp with the typically rough and tumble, edgy Richie touch.

My dh and I are so excited about this movie. You actually watched it with Robert Downey Jr.??? Lucky girl!

Cheryl, glad you and Sally agreed on you attending the smaller ceremony for Dawn. I think it will be a much more personal time for all of you to come together and share your love for her.

Well, ladies, I have a few precious hours here at home by myself to do some pre-Thanksgiving baking & cooking. We're having dinner at my dad's with some other family and friends of his. We're in charge of the potatoes (mashed and sweet), cranberry compote, jello salad and pies. Plus I am making mini pumpkin bread loaves to give out to all the guests. I better get busy!

Love to all and have a blessed Thanksgiving!

-Callie

One of my colleagues was supposed to join us as she is all alone out here, but we had a bit of a personal and professional falling out last week, and that's not going to happen now. Sadly she is leaving Las Vegas in just a few weeks for a new job elsewhere and I am afraid that our friendship is never going to recover :scared: I know that I should be the bigger person and that eventually I will be able to forgive, forget and move on, but right now I'm still hurting personally and trying to do damage control to my professional reputation, so I'm just too raw still if ykwim.

Notice I did not mention dessert...we usually don't get anything unless I have company. Un-bee-lieve-able, I know!
Oh now that's just wrong. :sad2:

Ladies: I spoke with Sally today and as expected she is beside herself. She said to me: "I've buried my Father, buried my Brother, but I never expected to bury my Child." It was heartbreaking. She did say that she preferred I wait and come to the ceremony on South Padre on the 20th because there were so many people coming next week. Bob was just afraid I couldn't walk in the sand but I assured her it would be fine (I usually only get a scooter at DLR for multi-day trips). So that is what I am going to do. I also admit being a bit selfish and wanting to see the area Dawn loved rather than El Paso (which she didn't like). Sally also wants me to meet her Momma--Dawn's Grandmother.
Oh dear. Poor Miss Sally. :sad1: I cannot imagine her pain. I'm glad you'll be there with them Cheryl.

You too! Enjoy your time with family, and have fun cooking/baking. :)

I'm so sorry to hear this, Deb. Take care of yourself and get well soon:hug:

We went to meet both boys teachers last night and they both had great things to say. My oldest sons teacher has a reputation for disliking boys but she was really impressed with him. Our youngest son is in Kindergarten and has a friend that he adores. She doesn't speak yet and is functioning at a level just behind the other kids. He even asked him she could sleepover the other day, saying that there's plenty of room in his bed:lmao: His teacher told us that Cameron has been so helpful and protective of his friend that he had to be told to let her do more on her own because she was starting to let him do everything for her:) The three kids were playing together while we talked to the teacher and she commented on how we've done very well with all three of our kids:cloud9:

I'm getting jealous hearing about all your turkey dinners, it's seems so long since we had our Thanksgiving:sad1:

Good job on the kiddos :thumbsup2 I know what you mean - we still have another month before we have turkey dinner again :upsidedow I'm already getting my recipes together and figuring out what to make - mmmmm mmmmm!

Well ladies, I'm almost done at work for the day and once I get home I'll start preparing our dinner for tomorrow. I'm hoping to get all my baking done tonight and just the dinner fixins for tomorrow.

I know we all have so much to be thankful for. After this past week I've thought a lot about memories I've made with my friends and family. As difficult as the Holidays are without my sister and her family here, I still have memories of all the times we did celebrate together. You all have been on my mind so much lately with the loss of Dawn. I know she meant so much to each of you in different ways. I hope that each of you can think back on your memories with her and be thankful for those experiences. Though difficult, it still fills a void and can bring a smile to your heart.

I just wanted to be sure to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving. Love your family, love your friends and make more memories. Love to you all!:grouphug:

Deb, I'm SO sorry  There have been numerous miscarriages in my family (my mom had two before my little sister was born). You have my deepest sympathy and prayers.

Donna, how did you get those connections?! My dad gets movies that are up for Academy award nominations but that's because he works for the city of Beverly Hills. That's how I saw I am Legend at my house while it was in theaters.

So many sad things have been happening these past weeks and I think some people might have a hard time finding something to be thankful about tomorrow.

I found this and I would like to share it. For those who aren't familiar, Corrie ten Boom was a Dutch Christian Holocaust survivor who helped many Jews escape the Nazis during World War II.

Corrie ten Boom and her sister Betsy had just been transferred to Ravensbruck. The German prison camp was overcrowded and the barracks were flea infested. That morning, their Scripture reading in 1 Thessalonians reminded them to rejoice always, pray constantly and give thanks in all circumstances. Betsy told Corrie to stop and thank the Lord for every detail of their new living quarters. Corrie, at first, flatly refused to give thanks for the fleas. But Betsy persisted, and Corrie finally succumbed to her pleadings. During the months they spent in the camp, they were surprised to find out how openly they could hold Bible study and prayer meetings without guard interference. It was not until several months later that they learned the reason the guards would not enter the barracks—fleas.

I'm thankful that all of my family is still here, that I live in a country where I have so many freedoms and privileges, and that I have salvation through Jesus Christ.

What are you thankful for?

Cristabel, I am thankful for YOUR boldness in your faith. You are an amazing young lady. :goodvibes

I am thankful for the Lord's providence for our family and that he gives us everything we need (not want, but need). I am blessed beyond measure!

I just have to say I love seeing your signature...it's so bright and cheerful...brings a smile to my face!

That was so nice Cristabel!

You know sometimes with all the stress of the economy and everything else it is easy to get wrapped up in what seems WRONG in life but when things like this happen with Dawn it REALLY makes you stop and think about how lucky we REALLY are!

I am thankful that I have my beautiful daughters who are healthy and happy! I am thankful that I have a roof over my head and food in my refridgerator and will have a lovely dinner tomorrow with family!

I am thankful that my husband still has a job and even though he had to take a pay cut at least he has ANY job when so many others don't!

I am thankful just to be alive and that most of my health issues have been resolved and of course thankful to have all of you wonderful gals as my friends that I can share my life with everyday and I can't wait to see soon!

As someone said the other day things like this REALLY make you stop and think that no matter HOW bad things may seem they could be a LOT worse. Even those gals in the flea infested barracks, at least they had a roof over their heads. It was SOME kind of shelter. There are some that don't even have THAT! And at least they were alive to live another day! You have to find the positive in everything and I thank god everyday for the good stuff and even when I get overwhelmed I just have to stop and remind myself that others have it worse and it could be a LOT worse! There is ALWAYS someone worse off! One of my favorite quotes from a movie and I think it fits well for our group, from It's a wonderful life:

No man is a failure who has friends! And boy is that the truth!

Good afternoon ladies. We are on our way home. LOTS of traffic on Int 5 and Jack has been getting carsick. :(
Deb, sorry about your loss and try to take care of yourself.
I'll try to catch up later

What, are you kidding? :rotfl2: I guess it depends what area of California you live in. I live in a semi-rural area of the central coast, and am surrounded by strawberry fields. We grow large percentage of the strawberries for the whole country, right here. San Diego grows a lot of them too. This is a short drive from my house. Click on the berries tab, and you see you can pick your own olallieberries, raspberries, blackberries, and others. And they make the best pies on site. Yum! Only problem is, we forgot to put in our order for Thanksgiving, and they're sold out for that day.

-Bob

There is a 'you pick' blueberry farm between Santa Barbara and Solvang.

Thank you Callie, I just wish I could be more bold in sharing it with strangers. That's one thing I'm petrified of doing and it's not because I'm ashamed of my faith but because I'm afraid of sounding confused about my own faith as if I don't know what I believe. I'm still working on it. In my group, Campus Crusade for Christ, they go sharing on Tuesdays on campus but I'm always too freaked out to do it. I'm trying to work up the courage to try next semester.

Kelly, that's what's important: family. I could be broke and in seriously in debt (which I am!) but I have my family and a roof over my head and I'm so thankful for that.

I'm also so thankful for all of you ladies. You all are really great friends. :grouphug:

I LOVE the name Jingles!

I like it a lot!

Oh Debra I am so sorry! What a tough time you are having...sending good thoughts and wishes you're way.

I feel rather guilty and left out reading about all you cooking up a storm! We are going to Mr. CA's parents for Thanksgiving dinner and I've volunteered to bring something...anything but they say no, we have it taken care of. I guess I'll just have to make up for it when we have Christmas Eve at our house with all of the kids' grandparents...yes ALL the grandparents - his ex-wife's parents and spouses come too - she doesn't come but it does make for an interesting evening. ;) My daughter last year came up to me and said, 'mom this is just weird!' At least they like me and I think it's kind of fun!

If I don't get a chance to say this, Happy Thanksgiving to each and everyone of you and please hold your loved ones tight!

That's a funny group to imagine. But that is a really nice thing to do for the kids.

Oh, and it may be silly since there are really only two adults in the house, but I will also be doing a cranberry spiked punch to drink. My family always had some sort of alcoholic punch or slush with every holiday and somehow I can't imagine the day going by without a drink in hand while I'm cooking!

That punch sounds yummy!

Ya know Bob, Your not a bad man. Mostly you sit back and keep your mouth shut and just open it when you have something really good to say. I like that!

:rotfl2:

He is right about Gizdich though! That is where we pick our ollalies every summer. And they make the best pies there!

Oh, and on a happy note, I got the PIN code that I had been hoping for and I was able to upgrade from staying at a value resort (which I don't really mind given how much time we tend to spend at the parks vs the hotel) to a moderate for a grand total of $6 more than our initial quote. This is factoring in the cost a preferred room at a value and the fact that we would have paid $10 extra for a refrigerator during each night of our 8 night stay.

Thus, we will be at PO French Quarter for our trip in May instead of All Star Sports. We have stayed at PO Riverside before and it was beautiful and idyllic, but I am looking forward to the smaller resort size of French Quarter and having beignets at my disposal every morning! I also think that Ty will get a kick out of seeing the sea serpent slide, although it means I am going to have my work cut out for me trying to keep him off of it.

Very nice upgrade!

So I just got off the phone with Mr. CA's mom and again volunteer to bring something...still not needed. I guess I should be happy that I don't have to do anything. ;)

Maybe she's expecting you to do the dishes? :scared1: You better bring your rubber gloves, just in case!

What a bummer about Jack getting carsick! I feel his pain.
Be careful on the roads, Becci.

I've been loving your photos, and can't wait for a full report!!

OK ladies, I'm off to make pies and cranberries. I'm glad I made today's dinner on Tuesday, so I just need to heat it up tonight.

Oh, and Stacielee--My flippies were delivered from Crocs today. I got a pair of the Savanas for me and one for my mom for Christmas. Thanks again for the heads-up on that!

Cheryl thanks for the update. I was worried about Sally. Do you know how Bob and the kids and grandkids are doing?

Tracey I hope you are feelingbetter.

The pain is under control now. My Hemiglobin is at a 9.5. That is a lot bettr than the 6.
