Oh Debra I am so sorry! What a tough time you are having...sending good thoughts and wishes you're way.

I feel rather guilty and left out reading about all you cooking up a storm! We are going to Mr. CA's parents for Thanksgiving dinner and I've volunteered to bring something...anything but they say no, we have it taken care of. I guess I'll just have to make up for it when we have Christmas Eve at our house with all of the kids' grandparents...yes ALL the grandparents - his ex-wife's parents and spouses come too - she doesn't come but it does make for an interesting evening. ;) My daughter last year came up to me and said, 'mom this is just weird!' At least they like me and I think it's kind of fun!

If I don't get a chance to say this, Happy Thanksgiving to each and everyone of you and please hold your loved ones tight!

Hi girls. All that food sounds yummy.
I hope everyone is having a great day.

Yay Capri for hot water!!!
Mel~ sounds like the party was great.

Cheryl- I had planned on going to Dawns celebration but this morning I had to cancel my flight.

So I have some bad news.
I had a miscarriage Monday night/ Tuesday morning. I lost a lot of blood. I had to have a D & C last night there was tissue stuck in my cervix and the pain was horrible. My hemoglobin was a 6. So I also got a blood transfusion.
This morning it was a 7 so I am now getting my 3rd bag of blood.
The pain has gone away with the help of my friend Demerol.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Oh Deb, I'm so sorry. I hate to say that I've been there, and know that you must be grieving so much. I have been praying for you this week, and am sorry that the worst has happened.

Please take care of yourself, and if you need anything at all let me know. You'll physically feel better soon, but I know your emotions will be hard for a long time. I'm truly sorry.

(((((( Deb )))))))))) I am so sorry to hear this. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Good morning ladies!
I love love bread pudding. I have a killer recipe for that if anyone is interested.

I would love to have your bread pudding recipe. I love bread pudding - they had a really yummy white chocolate banana bread pudding at the HOB Gospel Brunch :thumbsup2

Nothing much going on here since we don't have Thanksgiving at our house. We usually go to my aunt's or grandma's place. My mom usually makes sapayo soup. Sapayo soup is made out of a squash and it's very tasty! We also bring drinks, the salad, and whatever else we need. My aunt's family buys two turkeys, one for the oven and one for the fryer and we also have ham. Yum! Can't wait.

I have never had fried turkey before....... Have a great time!!

Deb, I am so sorry for your loss. You must be feeling so sad. You also sound like you lost alot of blood.
Please take care and get loads of rest. I will be praying for the healing of your body and heart.

Ohhh no, my little Deb! I'm so sorry sweetie.:sad1::hug:

Are you okay? Are you in the hospital? I'm really worried that you lost so much blood and it seems that it's taking a lot of hemoglobin to get your levels back up. Should I be worried about this? Is anyone with you to help you?

We did have some invites, but honestly, after being sick a couple of weeks ago and still having the cough which effects my sleep and stamina, I am thrilled to just stay home!

I am really excited to try these, as I have only had chocolate soufle one other time, and that was when I was 18 (um,lets see that was 25 years ago!) and my roommates parents treated us to the Moustache Cafe in Los Angeles and they had chocolate soufle on the menu and it was to die for!
.

Tracey, I am sorry you have a cough again. I know that's a weak spot for you. Take it easy and let's get rid of it!

If you're going to have one chocolate souffle, you picked the best place! Moustache was famous for theirs, so famous they renamed their restaurant on Melrose The Chocolate Cafe. But I believe it's been closed for a while now, like the westwood location.

Good morning ladies!
I also wanted to share that I had a "Cupcake" birthday cake made for Kaitlyn from Target. So cute. They take cupcakes, put them into the theme you have requested, and frost them altogether.

. My favorite cake is Kentucky Butter cake.

I pray for God's blessings upon Dawn's family during this time of grieving.

Please tell us what is Kentucky Butter cake?

Poor Dawn's family, I'm sure they will miss her very much during this holiday. :grouphug:

!

How could they not like you?! ;) A family friend is taking us out to see a film and then eat at a seafood restaurant by the beach. Two other friends will join us (one of them only eats salmon).

Beth, I've made Yule Log before - it comes out quite nice.

BTW, I saw the new Sherlock Holmes film last night with the director and lead actor seeing it for the first time as well. It is great fun, not your traditional Holmes, but a wonderful cinematic romp with the typically rough and tumble, edgy Richie touch.

I'm wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and safe travels. I am so thankful for the wonderful divas I've met, and those I will meet, all you terrific women that Beth has put together. :grouphug:

I am so sorry, Deb!! What else can happen to our group??? Or maybe I shouldn't ask!

Deb, my heart is with you and I am so sorry that you had to endure such a painful loss again. But, Stacie--Let's not go there, okay??? I'm not big on tempting the gods :rotfl2:

All this food talk has me drooling and is my my stomach growl!

I am cooking for just the three of us tomorrow. One of my colleagues was supposed to join us as she is all alone out here, but we had a bit of a personal and professional falling out last week, and that's not going to happen now. Sadly she is leaving Las Vegas in just a few weeks for a new job elsewhere and I am afraid that our friendship is never going to recover :scared: I know that I should be the bigger person and that eventually I will be able to forgive, forget and move on, but right now I'm still hurting personally and trying to do damage control to my professional reputation, so I'm just too raw still if ykwim.

Anyhow, I am doing a turkey breast, mashed potatoes, sage & sausage stuffing (dressing if you want to be technical as it will be cooked separate from the turkey), and spinach crunch (the speciality of the house on my side of the family). Dave will make mac 'n cheese and at my request he is attempting a pecan pie for the first time instead of our traditional pumpkin pie.

I usually make my own rolls too, but found delicious looking ones at Wal-mart that look like miniatures of the yummy brown bread from Cheesecake Factory. I can't wait to try them and I hope that they will be good 'cause that's like my favorite bread on the planet.

Oh, and it may be silly since there are really only two adults in the house, but I will also be doing a cranberry spiked punch to drink. My family always had some sort of alcoholic punch or slush with every holiday and somehow I can't imagine the day going by without a drink in hand while I'm cooking!

Tonight will likely just be pizza, as I can't bear the thought of needing to cook tonight given that most of the day tomorrow will be spent in the kitchen.

Hope that everyone's holiday is magical and special. Despite all the losses we have had in recent times there is still so much to be thankful for and I count my blessing every day.

Deb, I'm so sorry you're going through this. I hope you are able to get good care and can heal soon. :grouphug:

What, are you kidding? :rotfl2: I guess it depends what area of California you live in. I live in a semi-rural area of the central coast, and am surrounded by strawberry fields. We grow large percentage of the strawberries for the whole country, right here. San Diego grows a lot of them too. This is a short drive from my house. Click on the berries tab, and you see you can pick your own olallieberries, raspberries, blackberries, and others. And they make the best pies on site. Yum! Only problem is, we forgot to put in our order for Thanksgiving, and they're sold out for that day.

-Bob

Ya know Bob, Your not a bad man. Mostly you sit back and keep your mouth shut and just open it when you have something really good to say. I like that!

Oh Deb! I'm so sorry.

Oh, and on a happy note, I got the PIN code that I had been hoping for and I was able to upgrade from staying at a value resort (which I don't really mind given how much time we tend to spend at the parks vs the hotel) to a moderate for a grand total of $6 more than our initial quote. This is factoring in the cost a preferred room at a value and the fact that we would have paid $10 extra for a refrigerator during each night of our 8 night stay.

Thus, we will be at PO French Quarter for our trip in May instead of All Star Sports. We have stayed at PO Riverside before and it was beautiful and idyllic, but I am looking forward to the smaller resort size of French Quarter and having beignets at my disposal every morning! I also think that Ty will get a kick out of seeing the sea serpent slide, although it means I am going to have my work cut out for me trying to keep him off of it.

Oh yum – if you are going to the restaurant I think you are! :thumbsup2 That’s one of my favorites on the beach, Mr. CA took me there on one of my early visits to CA.

How fun that you were able to see both of them! I am jealous! Was it the premier or just a screening? I’ve seen trailers to the movie and it looks the lead actor looks like he adds a quirky side to Sherlock.

Back at you…I am so Thankful for this group of wonderful women and thankful for you my friend!

We did have some invites, but honestly, after being sick a couple of weeks ago and still having the cough which effects my sleep and stamina, I am thrilled to just stay home!

Sorry to hear you still have your cough. I hope it goes away soon! I’ve had an annoying cough for what seems like forever. My cough now is just a dry, hacky cough but it’s still bothersome. Relax and enjoy your quiet day!

Vicki I am glad you finally got up the nerve to try the pops. Like I said before that is one of those things that "sounds" weird but I think would taste good. And as you said it is and I bet Courtney is going to like hers as well! :)

I tell you one thing I LOVE the holidays but SERIOUSLY need to get control. I have officially gained back 10 lbs and am still going if I don't get things under control! I said I was going to wait till Jan to start over but I may have to start NOW or else I might gain ANOTHER 10 before then! :(. I hate the battles with your weight. UGH!

As I licked there are some small pieces of something and I am thinking that is the bacon but I don’t taste bacon…the licking experiment will continue. ;)

I’m with you – I need to get some control too! Ugh…I just cannot get motivated! I was doing great when I was running but then my foot started giving me problems so I stopped running and everything else and I’ve been eating whatever I want and that is not good. I need motivation kick in my bottom that continues to grow, blah!!!!

Good morning ladies!

Well the birthday bowling bash for Kaitlyn was a success. We had a good time, and it was good clean fun for everybody. It was really funny, cuz my DH Dave and my son Derrick bowl with a real "curve." Next to us were some of Kaitlyn's guy friends. They all decided to master the "curve" effect. It was hilarious. They ended up putting up the gutter rails so at least they could get some points. My grandsons were there too. It was just too precious to see them drop the ball, and very slowly the ball would make it down the lane. Of course they had a bumper up too. Didn't get home until midnight. :faint: I also wanted to share that I had a "Cupcake" birthday cake made for Kaitlyn from Target. So cute. They take cupcakes, put them into the theme you have requested, and frost them altogether. When you are ready to serve, you just pull the cupcake from the rest. Easy and no utensils needed. They are also very reasonable compared to regular sheet cakes. So much fun compared to the good ole Costco cake.

Everyone have a wonderful Thanksgiving. When you are sitting around your table tomorrow, look around and count your blessings for family, loved ones, friends, food, shelter........ life.

I pray for God's blessings upon Dawn's family during this time of grieving.

Glad to hear that the birthday party was a huge success! I’ve heard of the cupcake ‘cakes’ but I’ve never actually seen one. They are at Target? I’ll have to look into those because they sound practicle and something different from a traditional cake.

You are such a good cook, everything sounds so good!

One of my colleagues was supposed to join us as she is all alone out here, but we had a bit of a personal and professional falling out last week, and that's not going to happen now. Sorry you are dealing with this Jane…it’s so hard when a friendship takes a turn for the worse.
Have a great dinner with just your family – we used to do that when everyone else was out of town and I really enjoyed that quiet time with just the 3 of us.

So I just got off the phone with Mr. CA's mom and again volunteer to bring something...still not needed. I guess I should be happy that I don't have to do anything. ;)

Hi girls. All that food sounds yummy.
I hope everyone is having a great day.

So I have some bad news.

I am so sorry to hear this, Deb.
Please rest and don't overdo - I hope you feel better soon.

I am cooking a full meal for just the three of us, too. My dad and brother were coming, but cancelled. Butterball turkey, mashed potatoes & Heinz jarred gravy, Mrs Cubbinsons stuffing, canned green beans, canned cranberries and King's Hawaiian rolls. You see what a cheater I am - all the pre packaged food! But it's ok - we like it all. Notice I did not mention dessert...we usually don't get anything unless I have company. Un-bee-lieve-able, I know!

Oh, and a bottle of Moet Chandon White Star. That's the treat of the day.;)

Good afternoon all!

First of all Deb I am SO sorry!! When you mentioned that you and Dawn had shared a secret I kind of thought that might be what it was. I know this must be so devestating to you! Many prayers and ((hugs)) and I hope you have lots of loving people around you to take care of you right now!!! I am always here if you ever want to talk! I know you lost one of your confidants in Dawn so I am just offering if you ever just want to vent, cry, chat, laugh, whatever! :)

Jane I am sorry about what happened with your friend. That is so hard when stuff like that happens. Maybe down the road you guys can mend fences. Enjoy your holiday tomorrow. It sounds like you are going to be making some yummy stuff!

Donna I am so jealous! That sounded like so much fun!!! We have been seeing the previews for SH and are REALLY anxious to see it. Glad you enjoyed it!

Vicki I SO know what you mean. I have been on the diet rollercoaster for YEARS now and at most I lost 30 lbs over the past year or so and I got down to about 153 which was my lowest but my one goal was about 145/150 (what my doc wanted) and my own personal goal was around 135 which is what I weighed back before I had my kids although I didn't know if I would EVER be able to get back there again. I was pretty close at 153 but when I got so sick this summer and with my surgery I was unable to workout for so long and I just have not gotten motivated to get back to my workouts. Plus, like you, I really haven't been watching what I eat. I know enough is enough though when my clothes start getting uncomfortable and "I" start feeling uncomfortable in my skin. So it is DEF time to do something about it. I REALLY like our Wii so I am hoping to get the Wii fit soon (whenever I can get caught up money wise ;) ) because I figure if I can do something I really enjoy I will be more motivated to stick with it! Then I just have to retrain myself to eat good again and stay away from the junk! You can literally stop craving sugar if you stay away from it altogether for 3 weeks. But like anything else addicting it is HARD but it CAN be done!

Anyway hope everyone is having a good day with their prep for tomorrow. I went in to work and it was pretty stressful as always. Deals are falling apart and it seems there is never enough money to pay the bills so it makes MY life stressful cuz that is my job. I was glad to get out of there and the girls and I ran a loop of errands and now we are home. Just waiting for Shane to get home from work so we can go see New Moon.

Hope everyone has a GREAT rest of the day! Enjoy! :)

Deb: I just wanted to tell you that I am very very sorry for your loss. Please take care of yourself--I know you will.

Ladies: I spoke with Sally today and as expected she is beside herself. She said to me: "I've buried my Father, buried my Brother, but I never expected to bury my Child." It was heartbreaking. She did say that she preferred I wait and come to the ceremony on South Padre on the 20th because there were so many people coming next week. Bob was just afraid I couldn't walk in the sand but I assured her it would be fine (I usually only get a scooter at DLR for multi-day trips). So that is what I am going to do. I also admit being a bit selfish and wanting to see the area Dawn loved rather than El Paso (which she didn't like). Sally also wants me to meet her Momma--Dawn's Grandmother.

Jane that is great news! I loved the night I spent at POFQ (and yes, the beignets--just don't wear black).

Holy crap. I blink and we have a new thread???

Tay and I spent a few days at DLR and stayed at the DLH. It was nice to "get away" and chill for a while. Taylor really adored Dawn and when she found out what happened, she didn't take it well at all. So thankfully we had already had this little trip planned. Its been ages since Tay cried, so seeing her cry over this was a big deal. She's doing alright now.

I have tomorrow and Thursday off, but have to go into the office on Friday. Ugh, Not happy about that. My back is hurting again, and I am walking like an old lady. So hot I know.

It looks like I have tons to catch up on, not sure if I will or not. I might just jump in here and catch up as it goes.

Hope everyone is doing well.

I am so sorry about Tay--I know you told me that she had taken to Dawn right away and that was unusual for her.

As for your back . . . . . I have an extra walker you could use (running and ducking)

Interesting, is this a side job Cheryl? I've heard that lawyer is the SECOND oldest profession...wink wink nudge nudge.:rolleyes1

Someday I will tell you the nickname my old boyfriend (the CPA in LA) had for me (and still calls me sometimes) I'd post it but it's not "Dis" friendly.

Tapioca? Pass the barf bag, please.:scared:

Sorry, AmySue.:)

I'm with Linda--fish eye pudding!

Vegas ladies: I'll post on that thread too but with everything going on we decided to postpone driving up until Thanksgiving Day. So won't interfere with any plans, just wanted you to know.

I hope you all have a wonderful day! I woke up with a smile on my face since my bonus had been deposited into my account just in time for Black Friday!
Whoooo hooo for bonuses. :yay:

I know that I am incredibly grateful for my family and friends, including this wonderful group of dis divas that I look forward to chatting with every day.
Ditto! :grouphug:

I'm concerned my stocking exchange person has NOT received her package yet. It was mailed Thursday, priority & was to be there Monday...Tuesday at the latest & they haven't said anything about receiving it...... Hope it shows up today! (the person was on that thread yesterday...so I know they haven't received it yet.....)
Did you get delivery confirmation? If so, you can track it that way. I'll send a PM to your person and see if she didn't miss it somewhere.
Good luck with your long to do list, and the tests for the girls.

Then Friday mom and I are going to do a little BF shopping and then we are all going to head up to Truckee. I really hope there is at least a LITTLE snow! Plus I think the girls are going to have a BLAST ice skating and seeing the tree lighting etc.
Sounds nice. :)

I love love bread pudding. I have a killer recipe for that if anyone is interested.
Hmmm, I have a killer recipe too, and have had many, many of Ruben's coworkers from three different hospitals in three different states, as well as countless family and friends tell me it's the best they've ever had. Care for a bread pudding throw down? :rolleyes1

:p

Nah, I'm sure yours is much better!!!! :worship:

I put Jingles in her crate and I'm off for a nap!
A nap sounds good right now! Enjoy.
