So the lockdown lasted over two hours at my work. Thank goodness it was lifted right before my shift ended. The bad news...the guy was never found.
:scared1: Another loser still on the streets. We still see the helicopters occasionally...but I feel pretty gosh darn safe in our neighborhood thank goodness. Our development is only 5 years old so the rough crowd hasn't had time to take over ...yet anyway LOL

Nowww...as for Ayden's conference with this teacher. Let's just say I'm one proud mommy!!! My kindergartner is reading at a 2nd grade level. :woohoo:
Really, all he wants to do is read. Ok that and play football but my goodness...SECOND grade??? She said she has paired him up with weaker readers and it has helped Ayden and the other students. The one thing he still needs to work on his the silliness. He's not only the bookworm..but he's the class clown as well. :headache: He gets that from his daddy! ha ha

Oh and Cathy and Vanessa...nice to meet you. :flower3:
I'm Janelle, 30"ish" and live in Sacramento, CA. I'm very happily divorced and have been with my BF Chris for over 3 years. I have a 6 year old son Ayden that is my life. I have been on the boards for a few years but have yet to attend a DIS Diva trip. However last year I was there at the same time with my family so I was fortunate enough to meet a few divas during my trip. I'm still on the fence about going in February, I sure hope I get to go.....it's peer pressure so I bet I do. :hippie:
Welcome to the group!!!!

:scared1: Good grief, can't a girl go shopping all day long without y'all wracking up 8 pages of posts????

;) Good to see some action here again.

Cheryl~ Best post ever. Really touching.

Katie~ Aw babe. Hugs to you. Come on to Vegas, we'll leave the kids with Ruben, what's a few more after all, and we'll go get a drink!

Capri~ You are such a good daughter!

Steph~ The June dates for Vegas are the 3rd through 7th.

Vanessa~ Nice to meet you! Welcome!

Cathy~ Nice to meet you too!!! Welcome. We love getting new members. ::yes::

Of course I forgot anything else I wanted to say. Not sure why I thought I could remember 8 pages worth to comment on when I can barely remember what I had for lunch yesterday. Oh well.

Hope you all had a good day today. :hippie:

Oh, and Vanessa and Carol, if you have any pics you'd like to put up on the front with the rest of ours, just let me know and I'll add you. You can either post them here, or PM me. :thumbsup2

Also Vanessa let me know which items on the first page you are interested in signing up for and I'll put you on the lists. Thanks!

I'm back from Disneyland and it was a pleasant visit. I rode Indiana Jones, Haunted Mansion Holiday and the Disneyland RR. I spent a lot of time in WOD and found some cute gifts for Anais using my fun card. Now I'm back home and going to small group in 15 minutes. I still have the headache I've had since 2pm :headache: I'm going to take some ibuprofen and hope it goes away.

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

Hey Capri~~~ I am going to be in Spokane on Thursday. Would ya wanna meet for lunch????

Heck YEAH! What time and where? :yay: :cool1: :yay:

(Except I've gained like 25 pounds, so I'm just warning you, don't be shocked. Sitting on your butt writing papers all the time on a computer will do that to a person. Not to worry though. I'm about to start.....gulp......running again. Yes, I haven't ran in like, forever. But I remember when I used to run about 5 miles a day, how much I loved it, and how good it made me feel, so I'm going to start again. I actually dream about it.....weird huh? And I'm also going to be doing some pilates.)

Hi! I love to read and when I was his age I had troubles reading and my mom got me the Hook on Phonics by the time I was in 6th grade I was reading at almost and eleventh grade reading level. Reading is my favorite thing to do and I have so many book in my room. I think the last time I counted I was almost at 250?? I love the hear about little ones who like to read, it so cute. I wish him all the best in his class with his Reading!! :thumbsup2

I watched some of the news and saw the place where that was all happening. How scary. To be locked in somewhere for 2 hours as a crazed person runs around. :sad2:

And I hope you get to go. It going to be so much fun meeting everyone!! :dance3:

Yikes! That is cold. It's cold here too. Well, for us. 44 degrees now.
Enjoy your lunch date with Capri. I love Red Robin. Especially their garlic fries. Although nothing compares to pommes frites from DL.

Capri, I need to get my booty in gear again too. I have my exercise bike I got for my birthday. I just need to use it. What a rotten time to try and lose weight! All I wanna do is bake Christmas cookies. :rolleyes1

Vanessa, 250 books? Wow. That is a lot. I used to like to read. Now with four kids, I'm lucky if I find time to read a magazine. :rotfl:

I'm so tired. Off to watch Survivor!! :happytv:

Right, Mead is up north. So you want to meet at 11:30 at either Applebees or Red Robin up north off highway 2 at Northpoint shopping center? I like both places, so which ever one you like better is super with me. :cool1:

And, totally COLD here too. It was 16 at 8:00am when I woke the boys up for school. And in a few days, it's going to get colder, so get ready. I saw on the news that our high temp on one of the days is going to be 17 degrees! :cold:

Wow thats cold out!!

Lol!! yES I have a lot of books. Ive read most not all. But I decided about 2 years ago that every author i have a book for I wanted to have all of them. So I buy them all used, rarely to I spend the money on a brand new one. I buy them at the local Goodwills and Thrift Shops, Half.com and the Used Book Stores at the Libraries. I love to read Tween books like the Princess Diaries Series and Twilight Saga, I love books by Janet Evanovich and Sidney Sheldon and etc.

Long day for me...and I have two days of classes up ahead followed by 2 days of work. No rest in sight.

Welcome Cathy and Vanessa!! I was a newbie last year, and these women are a huge part of my life now. You've picked a great 'club' to join! :goodvibes

Cheryl, I loved what you wrote about us and Steel Magnolias. Growing up in the south, I really loved that movie. It really is classic, and the friendships in it are touching. I'm going to have to watch it again soon and think of us. What I think is great is how different we all are, we all live such interesting lives with different beliefs, but yet we are so respectful of each other. I really find that refreshing in such a large group of women.

I'm off to bed all. Good night and God Bless.

I like reading about everyones intro to the newbies. I've been here a year or so but don't really feel like I know much about everyone. Just bits and pieces. Maybe everyone can tell a little bit about themselves.
As for me, I'm 54, married 31 years, 3 kids, 2 girls-26 and 28, and one son-21. My 28 year old is DD Sarah, also known as MotoxPrincess who pops in here with her Drive By Hi's.
I've been running a Home Day Care ever since Sarah was born. At this time I have 5 kids ages 1-4. I've watched all ages but enjoy the infants and toddlers much more.
I love to bake and do crafts. My most recent project was making a Mickey Head wreath like the ones hanging over Mainstreet at DL. It turned out pretty good. I'll post a pic as soon as I get it on Photobucket.
That's about it. I don't get out much and never do anything exciting.
Oh, I'm Team Jacob. LOL

Hooray Cathy!!!!!! Glad you made it over this direction!!!!
Welcome Vanessa!!!

Let's see.....a little about me: Married 25 yrs, 3 biological sons (24, 22, 20) & 4 adopted children from foster care: son 8, daughters 4, 2 & 2. Stay at home mom to care for the special needs of the twins.
Got the awesome opportunity on my anniversary trip in March this year to meet a few of these ladies at the Dole Whip for Bawb picture......been thrilled to get to know them thru this thread as well as on Facebook.
I'm trying very hard to make this trip, as it's the only thing I've been thinking about since leaving Disneyland.

I'm with everyone else: I CAN'T WAIT FOR 2010.....It's got to be better than this year!!

Exciting Civil War game here in Oregon tonight....winner goes to the Rose Bowl & it was my beloved Ducks!!!
