Paranormal activity looked too Blair Witch project-y and it just gave me a headache thinking about it. That's why I refuse to watch Cloverfield.

Capri, I'm so sorry your MIL is a Marie. Sometimes I say my GM is a Marie because she likes to criticize my aunt in certain situations (her DIL) instead of putting the blame on her sweet, good son:rolleyes:, my uncle when it is really his fault. My mom hit the jackpot of MILs, my paternal grandma never intrudes nor gives her opinion unless asked. She also showed my mom how to cook Peruvian food. My mom said she's truly blessed to have such a MIL.

Callie, just work your butt off for the next month and you'll be looking fab for Maui. Just remember to do strength training as well as cardio and you'll be fine!

Beth, Happy "First Date" Anniversary!

Wendy, are you for sure, without a doubt, 100% unable to come in February? :sad1: There is ALWAYS hope!

I have spent the past two hours cleaning and reorganizing my closet. I still have a lot to do but it's been bugging me for the past few weeks. It's nice to accomplish something and see a difference.

I have SO much clothes in my closet that I don't wear because it doesn't fit me. If I continue exercising and eating healthier I will have a whole new wardrobe by spring! I have to shrink 1 - 2 sizes to fit into seven practically new shirts and 3 - 4 pairs of pants.

Okay, I've had my dinner break now it's back to work!

I liked it! I was expecting it to be really dumb, but it wasn't. I thought it was funny. And that one pic at the end with the guy in the strip club getting a dance while looking down at his pager, reminded me of Wendy at the OG!!! :lmao:

That's exactly what I was thinking too.

Today is Ruben's and my anniversary!! Not wedding, but of our first date. 22 years ago today. We went to the Griffith Park observatory, and have been together ever since.

He's taking me to see Barry Manilow tonight. Yes, you read that right. Barry Manilow. I can admit it. My name is Beth and I am a Fanilow. :rotfl: Always have been, since high school. Interesting story behind that. Someday if anyone's interested I'll share it. Has to do with my real dad. :)

Anyway, we got tickets that were normally $120 each for $99 for the pair!! :yay: Can't wait to go out.

Have a good one ladies. TTYL!!

Have a great time!!

:rotfl2: I saw that movie years ago, but I don't remember that part. When in doubt: just smile, nod and give the thumbs up. :thumbsup2::yes::

Words to live by.

Linda - Boring librarians? Boo. I wonder what the schooling is like..? :teacher:

Janelle - You deserve a nice massage! I hope you get one (or a facial!) soon! :flower3:

Tina - HAPPPY BRITHDAYYYYYYY!!!! :cheer2:

Jane - I'm not sure if I want Ohio St. or Oregon to win. I'm so so with both teams. I'm looking forward to the BCS game! Gooo Texas!

Cristabel - I liked Cloverfield. I was scared and now everytime my walls shake (like if someone is slamming a door or whatever) I think a giant monster is walking by. :scared1: No kidding. But, it did make me a tad dizzy. We saw it at the theatre and there was a sign on the entrance saying if you get motion sick, don't watch this movie.

Stacie - I hope you find your black shoes for work!

Katie - Yeah, Minnie and Friends has Pooh folk. We saw Pooh and Eeyore and Tigger there. They frequently hang out with Minnie.

Everyone else - I :lovestruc you all!

Warning VENT ahead:

I need to move!

The upstairs neighbors flooded their toilet again! This is the 3rd time since my Mother's Day flood.

I guess they refuse to plunge themselves, and then refuse to walk through the water to turn the water off. Like I enjoy living in their toilet water????

I threw a fit with the office, and they are now giving them a 'high capacity' toilet that can handle more. How ridiculous is that? I told them that if they allow them to flood my apartment again, they will be expected to pay to move me to a new one. (I probably have no legal footing for that, but it felt good to say it!)

They are coming next week to replace my wall boards since I said that I do not want to live with toilet water soaked walls, not to mention the mold that might be there.

On top of that, I'm worried that Nolan is starting to stutter. Anyone have any experience with that? From what I read, 2 is the earliest it can be seen, and he'll be 2 in Feb.

I hope everyone is having a nice night. It was busy around here this afternoon, but quiet now.

There are so many movies out right now that I want to see, but sadly most will have to wait for DVD (The Princess and the Frog, Sherlock Holmes and The Blind Side). I am begging Dan to take me to the theater to see Avatar in 3-D. I want to see it so bad! Maybe this weekend.

We're trying to eat better and exercise because we're heading to Maui in less than a month, and I don't want to even think about my white fat body in a swimsuit. I haven't said anything b/c honestly I feel incredibly guilty about it :guilty: and have had buyers remorse since I booked the airfare. I've even thought of faking an illness and using the travel insurance. But Dan says we're going and having fun, and that's that. I'll enjoy it once I'm there I'm sure.
!

Callie, you will go and have a wonderful time. All the tourists are going to have white bodies in January and most wouldn't call yours fat. Enjoy the fact that it works, that you have two good legs and arms. And... you can buy a skinsuit if you are really self conscious. It will help against any jellyfish and against sunburn. Ask me if you need more info or a link.

I would love to be in Maui in January!

Good afternoon ladies!!
Also our computer is acting up. It's 7 or 8 years old so I guess it's finally time for a new one.

Oh, that is wonderful. Have a great time. The observatory... so romantic. It's all remodeled now, did you know?

Our computer is whining... we also need one... I guess we should bite the bullet and do it before the tax year ends...

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Are MIL ever what you expected or wanted :confused3 :confused3

Becci, Linda & Donna~ Hi

Well said... about MILs...

Courtney, about librarians... I know a woman back east who worked as a children's librarian for a private school. That seems like a wonderful job. The hard thing about librarians today is most of them have to deal with bums who use the library just to sleep... sometimes to use the computer.

Stacierita - did you find the black shoes? Also, have you ever had custom orthotic lifts? I have them and they help those of us with back probs.

Hi to everyone - especially MEL! (who hasn't been around much until recently)

Good afternoon ladies!!

I could not sleep last night at all. Kept checking the attic panel. :rolleyes1 ;) :rotfl:

Anyway, I finally fell asleep and slept until almost 11:00. Since then I've been up doing laundry and such. Also our computer is acting up. It's 7 or 8 years old so I guess it's finally time for a new one.

Today is Ruben's and my anniversary!! Not wedding, but of our first date. 22 years ago today. We went to the Griffith Park observatory, and have been together ever since.

My name is Linda and I am a Fanilow. ;) Have been since high school!
Congrats on 22 years - you two are truly soulmates. Have a wonderful time.

Hola ladies!

I've been lurking along reading, but not responding much. Sorry.

Sad that Wendylou-boohoo won't be with us in February. :sad1:

We're trying to eat better and exercise because we're heading to Maui in less than a month, and I don't want to even think about my white fat body in a swimsuit. Later taters!

I will truly miss Wendy, too. At least she'll be comin' to Vegas to partay with us wild girls - right Wendall?;)

Last summer Bree & I went to Catalina for the weekend while DH was fishing. While we had fun, I regretted spending the $1,000+ dollars. I think of all the things that $$ woukd have been better spent on. Funny I never feel that way about any Disney related vacations! Really though, go to Maui and have a fabulous time. And like Donna said - I'm sure many women (me included) would love to look as fat as you in a bathing suit. You are going to MAUI girlfriend - enjoy! I can't wait to see you in Feb.:yay:

Heather, I would be more furious than you are. What is wrong with people these days? I hope it all dries out soon.

Why is there nothing on TV all week?

I hope everyone is having a nice night. It was busy around here this afternoon, but quiet now.

Good grief! How frustrating! I would be mad as well!:headache:

As far as Nolan stuttering, try not to worry about it. His vocabulary is probably really picking up right now, right? I have been told by two different STs that when little ones start talking alot they sometimes stutter because they can't get words out fast enough. They will usually outgrown it. If it puts your mind at ease, ask Nathan's ST about it.
Both Grant (10) and Ethan (4 next week) stuttered when they started talking alot. Ethan still does occasionally. I was concerned both times because Rich's brother has a bad stutter, as does his son (our nephew) who is now a teenager.

Callie - go and ENJOY YOURSELF!! I haven't been to Maui since our honeymoon in 96! :yay:

Thanks for that info Becci. Nathan's ST is at school so she never sees Nolan. I'm going to ask our support coordinator about it. It's been happening for about a month now. I'm trying not to worry, but you know how us Mom's can be. His language is taking off right now. He seems to get stuck on the first syllable....tha-tha-tha-tha-thank you Momma, etc. It happens more when he's excited or upset.

I am angry about the neighbor's, but they are not very nice people. These are the same folks that had a screaming cussing match with another neighbor at 2am. They always stare and glare at us, and just generally are rude.

I can't wait to move out of here...

Oh, and all this talk of MIL has me thinking. I only knew DH's mother for 2 weeks, she passed away 10 days after I moved out with him. That was a surreal time, helping plan a funeral with a family I didn't know. I'm glad I was there for him though. I wonder how we would've got along?

Beth, I can honestly say.....I'm also a Fanilow!!! I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see Barry Manilow someday, and take my mom too. She would LOVE it. It would probably make her cry during the entire show because it's been so long since she's done something like that.

Heather, I think it's more common for younger children to stutter as they learn to speak. However, Ryan (he's our 10 year old with high-functioning autism) stutters a little, and it started when he was older.....like around the age of 8. That's when it can be more worrisome. We keep reminding him to NOT stutter when he talks, because for him it's more like a habit rather than an actual physical or mental problem. You see, he never stuttered before until he was in the resource room with a new kid who stuttered. All of a sudden, Ryan started stuttering too. That same kid also had a nervous habit of squint/blinking his eyes all the time. Yep, Ryan started doing that too. It took us about a year and a half to get him to stop squint/blinking his eyes all the time. We're still working on the stuttering.

Anyway, talk with his speech therapist and see if he/she is at all concerned at this point.

Well, I bought a pretty shirt today that could be maybe considered tye dye. I hope it will be okay for our trip. I hope.:rolleyes1

Also, I got all my hair chopped off. It's cute! It just barely reaches my shoulders.....barely. And I have bangs too - LOL. No, I'm not going to post a picture yet because my face is too fat from gaining 20 pounds (seriously), but I've started my new healthier lifestyle today to lose it, so that's good, right? My goal is to lose 40 pounds by the time I turn 40. YES, I said the big one......40! I will turn 40 in September 2010, and now is the time to do something about the weight and my health. NOW! I bought some "ear Candy" or whatever those earbud things are called because I didn't have any to use when I go out for walks and running, and I really love to listen to music when I'm exercising. It helps me not only focus, but I seem to work out longer when I'm listening to music.

Hope everyone is having a great night.

I hope everyone has a restful evening. I'm busy printing out schedules and planning a week of fun for Anais and me. Tomorrow we are FINALLY going to see the Princess and the Frog princess: :goodvibes

Since my parents are planning and starting to pack for their trip we don't have have anything planned for NYE or NYD. I say we order Pizza, open a bottle of Champagne my grandma gave us in 2000 and watch movies!

Beth: Happy anniversary! Dave and I saw the billboard today that Barry is in the last set of dates, so I am glad that you are getting to seem him.

Heather: I am so sorry to hear about your apt again. You definitely can't move soon enough!

Wendy: You will be missed in Feb. Please promise that you will make the Vegas trip in June.

Capri: I totally feel your MIL pain. While my MIL is amazing, my paternal grandmother was an absolute pain to my mom & my aunt. I also think about her every time I watch ELR as she was sooo Marie. Sadly my grandpa died when my dad was a teenager so we didn't even have the fun of having a Frank to balance Marie (he's my fave on the show) :rotfl2:

Around here, Dave has a throat infection and is being a typical male about it. I had to force him off to urgent care this morning and then he came home all "i'm broken" and then sat and read all the side effects of the antibiotics and cough syrup, fretted about them and complained about the fact that he can't/shouldn't drink tomorrow night. Seriously, boys are the biggest babies when it comes to being sick!

Meanwhile I should have been heading to the airport right about now, but the girls got delayed an hour and a half due to both weather and mechanical issues so they missed the last flight from Chicago to Vegas tonight. It took forever for them to get rebooked and now they won't arrive until around 10 am via a connection in Denver. Luckily these are two pretty savvy 19 year olds and they managed to convince the airline to comp them a hotel room for the night and they are together so I'm not too worried about their safety, but needless to say this sucks. Thus, we will likely delay tomorrow's trip to the Strip until later in the weekend.

Hope you are all having a good night. Only about 26 hours left in 2009 and I know that for many of you it can't end soon enough!

Today is Ruben's and my anniversary!! Not wedding, but of our first date. 22 years ago today. We went to the Griffith Park observatory, and have been together ever since.

Have a good one ladies. TTYL!!

Ya know, I feel sad when your sad. I feel glad when your glad...If you only knew what I'm goin' through...I just can't live without you!!!!

Okay, you got me! Another Fanilow! I am so stinkin' jeaolous! How did you score those tickets? Any chance that a person going in Feb might get that deal??

You and Ruben are totally sweet. My husband would never go see Barry Manilow with me! (but my cousin is coming to Vegas too, so she would, I am pretty sure)

Regarding facials and massages: I love massages. I also have knots in my neck and shoulders and never liked anyone to touch them, but love a professional massage. I also had my first facial last year at Qua Spa in Vegas and I told the gal it was my first one (it wasn't really, but it had been a really long time) and she did an amazing job, and I did find it relaxing exept for a few "extraction" moments. And I loved the results.

Hello to everyone! Happy New Year too. I am working for a few hours tomorrow and playing cards with friends. Nothing too exciting. I have been wii fitting though and having a great time doing that!

This is the third time I am trying to answer here.

Hi everyone & happy Wednesday!

Hey, did you know that tomorrow is a blue moon night? It only happens on New Year’s Eve every 19 years, so check it out if you get a chance. lol

I'm sad to say that I wont be making the trip in February.

I’m going to really miss you. I understand that you won’t be able to make it, but I’m still sad.

You girls you don't text.......

Just kidding....We are a texting family! I think it is a lot easier to just send a text.

I think texting is so much easier, too!

Thanks to everyone for your happy birthday wishes. I had a great day in Lugano with my DH. We went and spent time at the sauna and pool and then had a wonderful fancy dinner in the evening. It was the first date we've had since we moved to Switzerland so it was very very nice.

So we are off to California tomorrow. Again, I'd like to invite everyone for a drink and some birthday cake (or maybe cupcakes?) on Thursday, January 7 at 7pm at the Hearthstone Lounge in the Grand Californian.

Glad you’re having a good time in Switzerland. It must be beautiful there. I’m going to try & make it to the GCH on the 7th :)

We are having a great trip so far. We went to Yosemite yesterday, and it was a winter wonderland there. So beautiful! Today we are just hanging out and relaxing. Tomorrow we are celebrating my birthday by going back to Yosemite to go ice skating in Curry Village and maybe some sledding.

How wonderful to spend your birthday in Yosemite. My favorite place in the world! How was the ice skating at Curry Village?

Hi ladies,

Just wanted you to know that I am having fun making up the teams.

Hi Mel. Thank you & Cheryl for all the work you’re doing for the scavenger hunt!

I am sorry but I won’t be able to make it to your BD celebration at DL. I thought it was on Jan. 6th but now that it’s on Jan. 7th I have to be at a work event at a resort in Palos Verdes.

I am so excited for Thursday especially after your and Donna’s reviews of MP!

We have been car shopping for Mr. CA a new commuter car.

We were going to take the kids to DL today but Mic woke up dizzy and this is the second day that he’s had dizziness

I am loving having this week off.

Is the work event at the Trump Resort @ PV or another? I hope you have nice weather and that Catalina will be clearly visible for you. It’s just beautiful when you can see the island.

Have fun watching Mary Poppins. How exciting for your family.

Good luck on the new car, and I hope that Mic feels better, and that the tests show that it is nothing to be concerned about.

I could use a good friend right about now.

Here's 'her' pic from today. She has her hand in front of her face, so it is a little distorted looking. Her left leg is kicked up and across the middle of her right leg that's stretching out.

Here's the between the legs shot...nothing obvious but too soon to tell for sure.

Beautiful pictures!!!!

Not yet, they are interviewing in 2 weeks.

Good luck on the job. I hope you get it and it turns out to be just what you would like!

We usually spend NYE at home these days (with little ones). We'll have some nice wine and/or champagne, lots of yummy finger foods (meats, cheeses, crackers, chips and dips, finger desserts, etc) and watch movies.

Then on New Years Day, we're going to my parents' house for prime rib, Alaskan King crab legs, lots of other food and desserts, and FOOTBALL.

Your New Years celebrations sounds wonderful! Enjoy!

I am so tired. Just finished The Hangover. Off to bed now. Night!!

I haven’t seen the movie yet, but plan on it. I heard it’s funny

Was out all day with MIL. Kelly suggested the Getty and since MIL had not been there since it first opened, she loved going there.

I’ve never been to the Getty Center… one of these days! Glad you had a good time

I watched Paranormal Activity last night. It was creepy but definitely not the scariest movie that I have ever seen, so to me it did not live up to the hype.

You know, I just don’t enjoy scary movies anymore. I haven’t seen this, and probably won’t. Your NY celebration also sounds like fun. Enjoy!

Yesterday was pretty busy for me.

Today I am hopefully going to run out with mom and she needs to get one more thing for Katy's birthday and then tonight we MAY go see Blind Side.

How was the Blind Side? I really enjoyed that movie! Good luck on the work front. I hope things smooth out so there is much less stress for you!

Thank you for all the thoughts & prayers for Steve's dad, Rich.

Hi Jill – here’s hoping Steve’s dad continues to get better!

Massages are not for everyone, but I have so many knots, it's the only way I truly relax. I say go for your facial though, and try it! You may love it.

I’ve never had a facial, massage, pedicure, manicure … maybe one of these days. It sure sounds good.

My parents are coming up today and we'll be going out to dinner for NYE then watching the rose parade & football on NYD. I'm off to the deli for sandwich fixings... Have a good one ladies!

Enjoy your time with your parents, Kerry.

I call my MIL Marie.....after Marie Barone on "Everybody Loves Raymond".

Ack, good luck with your MIL. Someone on the CB said just smile & nod. Lol. Maybe it will help you get through better. :)

Today is Ruben's and my anniversary!! Not wedding, but of our first date. 22 years ago today. We went to the Griffith Park observatory, and have been together ever since. He's taking me to see Barry Manilow tonight.

Grew up listening to Barry Manilow in the late 70’s. He’s so talented. Hope you saw a great show tonight. J

I have also seen what I swore was a female figure walk by one of the rooms upstairs and my uncle swears he saw the same figure when he was sleeping downstairs on our couch. Plus we also had knocks on the front door and no one was there! Luckily ALL this stuff happened when I lived here as a kid and then the house was vacant for a few years and nothing has happened since Shane and I moved in 9 years ago.

I will have to rent that movie now just to see what I think.

That would definitely freak me out! Yikes. Have fun for Katy’s birthday!!

We're trying to eat better and exercise because we're heading to Maui in less than a month.

Callie, have a wonderful trip in Hawaii… what a neat thing to be able to do.

I have spent the past two hours cleaning and reorganizing my closet. I still have a lot to do but it's been bugging me for the past few weeks. It's nice to accomplish something and see a difference.
Hey, you want to do mine? Lol This is what I will be doing tomorrow and part of Friday. I HAVE to clean out my closets from the clothes I’ll never wear again.

I need to move! The upstairs neighbors flooded their toilet again! This is the 3rd time since my Mother's Day flood.

That is really bad!! I hope things work out, and can they move you to another apartment? Whether they can or not, I hope things work out for you! That is awful to have to live with. Ugh

----------

It’s been nice and relaxing this week. Kelly & I saw the Princess & the Frog for the first time on Monday (really enjoyed it), and went to the Grove today with my friend, Brenda, and saw It’s Complicated. Good movie, and we laughed through a good portion of it. I really enjoyed it. I’m hoping to see Sherlock Holmes and Avatar before I go back to work … may see them, may not.

Have a great day & Happy New Year!

Oh, that is wonderful. Have a great time. The observatory... so romantic. It's all remodeled now, did you know?
Yes, we've been back since it was remodeled. It's nice.

My name is Linda and I am a Fanilow. ;) Have been since high school!
YAY!! :thumbsup2

My name is Trudi and I am also a Fanilow.
Whoo hoo, another one!! :thumbsup2

Beth, I can honestly say.....I'm also a Fanilow!!! I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see Barry Manilow someday, and take my mom too.
Wow, who knew there were so many of us! :thumbsup2
By the way, your hair cut sounds super cute!!

Beth: Happy anniversary! Dave and I saw the billboard today that Barry is in the last set of dates, so I am glad that you are getting to seem him.
Tonight was his last show at the Hilton. He moves to the Paris hotel in March.
Hope Dave feels better!!

Okay, you got me! Another Fanilow! I am so stinkin' jeaolous! How did you score those tickets? Any chance that a person going in Feb might get that deal??
Ruben bought them!! They were normally around $100-$120 each, but he got the pair for $69. (I posted earlier it was $99, but it was even cheaper!) He bought them from the Vegas radio shopping show where we get a lot of our discounts from. The seats were great too.

Barry's show is moving from the Hilton to the Paris hotel in March. Tonight was his last show until then, so he won't be playing here in February. Sorry! Otherwise I'd totally get some tickets for you.

I’ve never had a facial, massage, pedicure, manicure … maybe one of these days. It sure sounds good.
I've never had a massage, a pedi, or a facial. The last mani I had was for my wedding 16 years ago.

Heather, sorry about the upstairs people.

Callie, you are not fat!! Maui sounds fun.

Night ladies! :cloud9:

Just a quick hi with hugs to Heather.

No plans for new years....might make some brownies (new recipe I want to try from the Hannah Swenson mysteries)

Later,
Sarah

Oh and I LOVE massages!

It's actually at the new Terrena Resort and it should be a beautiful view if the skies are clear! I have not been out to the resort yet and I'm excited to see it. It is built on the same land where the old Marine Land was located.

We decided on a Cooper Mini...it is soooo cute. I fell in love with a Chocolate colored convertible mini so I think next fall I might be getting one! We only need one practical car, right? ;)

Good news on Michael's blood test...nothing wrong so we'll keep an eye on him and if he continues to have dizzy spells they'll do CAT scan. He was 100% today.

Happy Happy New Year!

Beth~ I am glad you had a great night! I have never even heard Barry, well that I know of.

MJ~ Thanks. You need to get a mani, or pedi or massage or something. They are great!! I love getting pedi's!

Sarah~ I love trying Hannah's recipes! The lemon bars are great! I just tried this one from the Candy Cane murders.

Heather~ I am glad things are getting fixed but I would be totally PO'd about the neighbors!

Callie~ YAY for Maui!!

Jen~ Have a great time in California!!

Capri~ Send me a pic of the new hair!!

Jane~ Men are such babies when they are sick! I hope Dave doesn't give you too much grief while he is sick.

Work totally kicked my butt!! ugh...3 more days o this.

MJ - I've seen both Avatar and Sherlock and I'd recommend Avatar if you only see one. Try for a good theater. Some of the theaters advertise imax but they are not true imax.

SH is fun, nothing big against it (if you just don't expect traditional SH), but Avatar is amazing.

Aw, that is sad, Heather.
Awful about the neighbors...really stupid. How much longer are you there?

Hello to everyone! Happy New Year too. I am working for a few hours tomorrow and playing cards with friends. Nothing too exciting. I have been wii fitting though and having a great time doing that!

Do you have the new wii fit? I have the old one and wondered what has changed.

Good news on Michael's blood test...nothing wrong so we'll keep an eye on him and if he continues to have dizzy spells they'll do CAT scan. He was 100% today.

Happy Happy New Year!

That's good news. I hope he doesn't have to have a CAT scan. I've had one and it's not fun.

Have fun at Poppins! Say hi to her for me!
