Everyone who will be here in June and everything for Cars Land, please come say hi to me OK ;) I need to see a few more friendly faces around down here!

Well I won't be there in June, but I know I'm anxiously awaiting your schedule to be released for July! lol :) I can't wait to finally meet you!!

Hubby called me on the way home tonight... his car made "a big clunk noise" and then started to vibrate. He pulled over and looked it over (my husband is about as handy with cars as your average 12 year old), didn't see anything, so got back on the road. Still vibrating, but no ugly noises. No lights on the dash. Must be good, right? Ugh. So I met him on the freeway and we took his car to the dealer. Poor car has 130k on it, so when it squeaks, we listen. LOL So hubby will have my car tomorrow.

Have I mentioned that NO ONE but ME drives my car? Like EVER? LOL So we had a 20 minute "driver training" course this evening about how my little girl gets treated. Hubby has a big, honkin V6 that, when I first get in and drive, I peel out from the first stop or two. I'm gonna be a nervous wreck tomorrow. I just know it. It's like sending my daughter out on her first date with a boy with a car or something. Ugh. Plus, now that I know I'll be "trapped" here all day, I can think of a dozen things I need to GO AND DO. Ugh. There is not enough wine in this house.......

OK I have to say, I'm cracking up about your car. LOL You are too cute. Here's hoping your DH's car is OK and it's nothing too serious. It's scary tho, my minivan has 147k on it.

Well, Micah started his new job yesterday. :) He went in for a half day to fill out paperwork and such. He came home at about 6:30, he was home 50 minutes later! That's the same amount of time it took from his last job too so we are hopeful that his commute won't be horrendous every day! We know there will be days of horrible traffic, but hopefully not everyday like we were suspecting. :) He will be working the 10-7 shift so its the same as it was before. :) So we are relieved that its not likely to be as bad as we thought it might be. lol
Happy Thursday!!

Only 130K? :rotfl: My car has 275K! :rotfl2:
Wow, you've got us beat! Our minivan has almost 260,000. We will drive it til we can't drive it no more! Then...who knows. Maybe the bus since I do not want a new car payment. lol

For those who are coming on the girls trip without an AP, how about doing a Hollywood Day? Lauren and I did that the first year and went to see Wicked at the Pantages (not sure what''s playing now) and walked around Hollywood and had lunch at the Disney Soda Shop. We were back in time for fireworks. It was a blast.

I remember you guys doing that. In fact, that's what gave me the thought to try going someplace else. I know most won't want to leave the parks, and that's cool. But who knows, maybe we can work something out for those who won't have an AP, or who are local and wouldn't mind a change of scenery for one day.

Well, we got the call on hubby's car. He broke an axle. Ouch. No estimate yet; they are trying to find the part. This can't be good......

I'm going to be there some time in June to see CarsLand before my AP gets blocked out. I was at DCA on Tuesday to do some of my other favorites, so end of June can be dedicated to CarsLand. I'm thinking June 19 or 26. It'll be crazy, but that's alright. I can be patient.

My life if also full of end of year activities--concerts, ceremonies, parties... We end a week earlier this year. The last week is officially a "furlow" week, so we get out earlier than normal (June 14 instead of 21).

Yea another military person!!!!! I'm actually "just a spouse" (someone really said that to me:() Ha!!! It's all good! We are at Travis AFB where are you? Have a blast at WDW with your DD. My Erin will be 16 in 8 years but I just don't think either one of us can wait that long for a mother/daughter trip!!!

Welcome!!

No such thing as "just a spouse"! I was a spouse once, then my ex-husband decided not to re-up and told me if I wanted to make sure our kids had health insurance I should join. So I did, and I'm still with the Army!

My dad was AF for 20 years, he was so mad at me for enlisting in the Army, I thought steam was going to come out of his ears! I'm National Guard, so nowhere near an active duty installation, actually Travis is the closest to me. I live in Shasta County, about 2 and a half hours north of Fairfield. I used to drill with the 49th MP BDE right outside of the maingate, and I stayed at the base hotel while I was there, it's a great place to stay.

We're probably going to take several trips south this year. We went to WDW in February (all 3 of us) when I returned from Afghanistan as a reunion trip. I just got back from DLR yesterday from my first solo trip, I'm hoping to go back in July with my parents unless work gets in the way, then maybe again in August before school starts with my youngest, her best friend and her mom, then hopefully in October for the Halloween party, and November for the Christmas decorations. Oh, then we're going to WDW in March, and I'll be going again in May with my best friend and her mom. I think I should receive a couple of shares of Disney stock for as much as we'll be spending there this year. I doubt I'll renew my AP, so I have to get it all in.

Katie is going to be my roomie for July :) right?! haha

Right!

Has Laila been to Sea World yet? I don't know how far that is from you... I remember going to Sea World as a little girl and wanting to be a dolphin trainer when I grew up. LOL

Yes, we went to Sea World recently. She loves the place and is always asking to go....and since I know you want to see them, here are a couple pics ;)

If you want, you can hang out with me. :rolleyes1 Maybe one day at least... I'll be there, but probably won't do the parks. Just the parties, meals in DTD/hotels, and drinks at Trader Sams. I was actually thinking of one day maybe leaving the Anaheim area and going to the beach area. Maybe Newport. Find someplace nice to eat, shop, etc. Or whatever else is close by. It would be great to have company!
No pressure. ;)

I'll hang out with you, even if I do get passes. It's always fun to do to other things.

Well, we got the call on hubby's car. He broke an axle. Ouch. No estimate yet; they are trying to find the part. This can't be good......

Well that sucks. I think I've said it a hundred times, but I loathe car troubles. I have many of them myself since my car is pushing 260K miles .

Oh man, I feel your pain. It sucks.

Sounds busy, but fun!

LOL Sounds like you've got a lot of fun trips planned. Hope you had fun at the trip you just got back from.
When in October will you be there?
A bunch of us will be there having a mini meet. Might give you a chance to say hello to some of us before the main trip. :)

Of course I want to see pictures of cutie Laila and her pretty momma. :goodvibes I love watching the penguins. And the beluga whales. Last time we were there, there was a group of people swimming with the belugas. It was pretty neat.

Oh yay! Glad I'll have company in February. I love DL, but it would be fun to go someplace else with some of the ladies....whoever is interested. ;)

I haven't decided, but I'm happy to share. I got the 2 bed room, hoping to have a roomie. LOL

Nathan will sleep in the bathtub, right? LOL

If you want, I can look into adding a night to it. Didn't you take my last Retro ressie I couldn't use????? LOL

Oh, we would love to share:)

Let's stay in touch!

I don't know yet when I'll be there. It depends on work and whether my oldest daughter wants to go for her birthday. She has been anti-trip lately, so I'm beginning to doubt it. It may just be me again, or me and my youngest, or me and a friend. When is your trip planned, I'm usually flexible on dates up until it gets close, so I may be able to steer towards that.

Linda- Yes I do a lot of travelling with my mom and girls. We try to take at least one trip together a year usually during the summer break. We did a road trip to Or/WA last summer and had a blast and my dad actually went on that one. WE have driven to So Cal several times but when airfare was good it was so much easier to fly but now we are back to driving again LOL. The nice thing about driving though is you can stop when you want and go to other places. So looking forward to that!

Camomom I know about the army wife deal too. I was in the AF for a short time 20 odd years ago and then my ex husband was in the army for 14 years. He did one 15 month tour in Iraq before getting out in 05. That was def enough for me LOL. Thank you for your service!!

Lisa sucks about the car. YIKES. My care is 5 years old and only has 65,000 miles but I am still trying to baby it cuz I still have a loan on the stupid thing so def don't need any repairs!

Looking forward to this weekend. Girls and I going to see MIB3 tonight, video day at home tomorrow (supposed to rain) golf and bbq with my parents on Sun and the girls are doing another race on Mem day. So should be a fun weekend.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Hi Ladies :wave2:

Been a while since I actually posted on here......I keep forgetting you're not all on FB.....my bad! :rotfl:

So a little update: Michayla is totally healed up from her open heart surgery....poor thing has all sorts of scars on her chest & belly from the various procedures she's had done.....no hope for a bikini body for her.....lol :beach:

Schools winding down (as with the rest of you), baseball season ends June 2. Anthony got bumped up to the "Majors" but it was like he totally forgot how to play baseball.....kinda a frustrating season and his team has so much talent, but unfortunately no discipline.....so games have not gone very well. :(

Derek leaves late on June 9th to fly out to Florida for the Disney College Program. He'll get to Orlando before noon on Sunday, so we're getting him a one day ticket so he can go explore for a bit. The kids coming in, check in first thing in the morning on the 11th. He's pretty excited but also feeling a bit of anxiety. (as we all are......so happy for him, but really going to miss him)

We're still on track for our WDW trip in December. ADR day is the 10th, so I'll get Derek on the plane, get home late, and then be up at 3am to go online to make our ressies. Pretty excited to see how we fare on these.....but I plan to sleep the rest of that day.....lol :rotfl2:

Hoping everyone is doing good.....I see a lot of talk about CarsLand.......have fun for those going this summer (too many people....eek!!) :worried: Looking forward to seeing your pics & reviews!!! Can't wait to see it for myself in February!!! :hyper:

Enjoy your Memorial Weekend and stay safe!!!! ::yes::

TGIF!! Finally. And, it's a gorgeous morning here in Las Vegas. Breezy with low temps, around 65 or so. Perfect. I'm enjoying it before the triple digit temps return, which won't be long! :crazy2:

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Anti-trip?? How old is she? My son is 17 and he's getting to be that way, too.
My trip is planned for Oct. 18-21. Some of the other ladies will be there longer. But, we are all planning to meet up in the parks on the 19th, which is a Friday. I'll be there with my family, but I'm going to ditch them for one day and hang out with the girls. (They don't have APs, so they'll go visit my in-laws that day)
Anyway, we are definitely planning on doing lunch at one of the new eateries in Carsland that day. It would be great if you could join us for all or part of the time. :)

Hi Laurie, good to see you here. Good luck to Derek! How exciting for him. pixiedust:

Glad to hear that plans are on track for WDW and that Michayla is all healed up. That little girl is just amazing.

She'll be 17 on October 25th. She had a good time at WDW in February, but since then whenever I bring up any kind of trip (even ones she's been dying to do) she says she'd rather not go. So I'll try again when it gets closer and see if she'll go, but I'm beginning to doubt it. If she doesn't want to do a birthday trip I can probably make that weekend. If she does it will probably be the next weekend that we do stuff (unless her dad has other plans) and I don't know whether I can swing two trips in a 2 week period. So I'll give you an absolutely firm maybe on that. ::yes::

Yep, I plan to keep driving it until it breaks down. I don't want a car payment either!

We don't have buses where I live. I'd have to make it about 5 miles to the next city to catch a bus.

I'm still here, reading but not posting much. :duck: I know know.. I will try harder. ::yes::

eeeek, family drama day with the in-laws. Not sure why, but anytime I try to plan something it turns into this big messy thing. Resulting in a flurry of phone calls, puzzling moments of "huh?" and a few tears followed by "it's okay, we will work this out" and "love you - even though you are driving me NUTS!" :faint:
Had hubby chat it out with his family, reassure everyone that yes we can cancel the hotel if it doesn't work out. And hey, if all else fails, we have two hotel rooms to use for ourselves on fourth of july. ;) ;)

Happier phone call, from my (no drama here) family. My nephew will be couch surfing at our place while job/apartment hunting. A little :crowded: but we are very happy to help and a chance to have him close by again. (We lived in California the year he was in training at Pendleton, he stayed many weekends with us until we moved back to MN. He has been out of the Marines and back home for the past year. Now off to the next adventure, moving near us in "the Cities". )

uhh ummm hmmm.. nothing much else going on. We are doing caretaker duties in our apartment. Hard work and kinda fun too, it's going well.

Me too, Bernice, me too.:rolleyes2

Glad it's the weekend. I am exhausted. Me and the kitties are hanging out and relaxing. And I am having wine, lots of wine. Brianne is in Vegas with her friends. Such is the life of a young, single, fun gal!;)

Spent last weekend in DL and it was a mad house. I have a feeling it's going to be like that for awhile.

Evening ladies.

Welcome to all those who haven't joined us in years past and that are hoping to attend the upcoming trip.

I feel out of the loop on this thread as to who is who and I know it's because I haven't been here a great deal (if at all) since the last trip. My goal is to catch up this weekend on all the past posts.

Here's a brief intro from me.

I'm Stephanie and have been attending the Girls Only Trips since the first year. I'm active duty in the US Air Force (16 years in July). My family and I have been stationed here in CA for just over 9 years (rare to be anywhere that long but not completely unheard of). My husband (Josh) has been a stay at home dad since our first daughter was born. We have 3 kids. Selena is 10, Raine is 8, and Rhys is 6.

I hope you all have a great weekend.

Steph

I have to decide what I'm going to do with myself this summer. My oldest daughter moved in with her dad about a month or so ago, and next weekend I'm taking my youngest down to Modesto to stay with her grandma. We had bad news on the day I returned from DLR, her grandmother's husband (who she is very close to, he taught her to drive, takes her on bike rides, fishing, camping etc) was in a mountain bike accident. He's in a coma and has a broken neck and back, he's not expected to survive. She's really having a hard time, and has asked to go down so she can talk to him and perhaps have an effect on his possible recovery (there have been some developments over the last two days that have given us some hope). I told her that we will prepare for the worst, but hope for the best, medical miracles do happen.

So she's going to be down there helping her grandma out and keeping her company. And I'm going to be here in this big old house all by myself. I wish I could go south a few more times, but I can't afford that again right away and I might just start working again soon, so no trips in my near future. I will have to paint the guest room and the bathrooms and organize the garage I guess.

I'm going to sit here and worry about Ron and my kiddo because she's never dealt with any kind of tragedy before. And try to keep busy.

Sorry to hear about your sad news. Hoping there will be some positive effects when your daughter visits him.

I might make a quick trip to the parks on June 2nd for a couple hours in the morning. I have to go to a funeral in the area at 1:00pm. It's off Katella east of DL. I'll probably just walk around CA.
Hope everyone has a safe weekend. We're staying home, it's just not worth it to go away and fight the crowds anymore. When hub and I were much younger we just couldn't wait to get away for a long weekend. Getting old I guess.
