I want a nap......I posted my schedule on another thread and OMG I'm insanely busy this next week!! I'm excited tho, we leave 8 days!!!!!

Happy Friday Divas!

Nothing fun planned for this weekend. DH is headed out of town next Saturday, we have the holiday on Wednesday and my birthday of Friday. With him leaving early Saturday morning and how much I HATE waiting to be seated at restaurants (the places we go don't take reservations), we'll be getting take out Chinese on my birthday and we'll go out to an EARLY dinner the Saturday before Convention. He's gone the 7th thru 11th and then I leave on the 17th. No plans for the 4th here either. We're boring. LOL

My daughter, Jessica is flying in from So Cal this evening. Tomorrow night we have tickets for Grease at the Sacramento Music Circus. Then on Sunday morning we're off to Tahoe for a week! It'll be a fun week ... nothing better than the fireworks over the lake! :thumbsup2

Everyone is here from Seattle! We're leaving in the morning. I really need to finish packing.
Safe travels!!

We are boring, too. We don't do anything for the 4th. Luckily we can see fireworks without leaving our house. Red Rock hotel shoots some off and we have a perfect view from our bedroom window. No crowds to deal with, no where to have to drive to. It's nice.

I love Grease! Sounds fun. Enjoy Tahoe! It's so pretty up there.

So here's what I've done today:

  • Got my nails done with DD23
  • Got gas for $1.37/gallon in 2 cars
  • Went to Sam's Club with DH
  • Got DH's confirmation for his flights to Australia, he leaves the day after we get back from our trip to Michigan/Minnesota
  • Bought my flights to/from Australia
  • Rented a car while in Australia
  • Confirmed a timeshare while in Australia
  • Fixed clothes dryer (well, actually DH did) that stopped heating this week, luckily after the last load was about done

Now I've gotta finish packing for our 2-week trip to Michigan/Minnesota that we leave for on Sunday!! It never stops!!!!! :scared:

Gas for $1.37 a gallon!!! Wow!!!

Hey ladies! Just got back from a grueling 3 day college tour with my son, friend and her son. My DS is going to be a junior next year so he is getting a head start on college tours. In 3 days we saw, SDSU, UCSD, UC Irvine, Pomona College, Claremont McKenna, Loyola Marymount & UCSB! The only one we did not like was UCSD. We will see UCLA, CalTech & CSU Long Beach in early July and then Cal Poly Pomona, CSU Fullerton, CSU Northridge, and a few others in mid July!! Still need to see UC Berkeley, UC Davis and CSU Sonoma later in the summer. Yikes - that is a lot of colleges! DS's top choice right now is SDSU with Claremont and UCSB in second place.

We leave Monday morning at the ungodly hour of 4:15 in the morning to catch a 6 am flight to go back to Lake Sunapee, New Hampshire with DH's family. Love the lake and DH's family but not looking forward to high temperatures!

Stacie - did you really find gas at $1.37/galloon!!! That is amazing!! - ETA - Your post hit while I was typing. Great deal - wish we had one like that down here!

Hope everyone has a great 4th of July!

Guess I should clarify that, it was $3.37/gallon but Fry's (Krogers) has a $2.00 off per gallon deal going on right now! We filled up 2 cars for under $40!!

Wow! I got excited back in January or February when I got a $1 off deal. LOL

I have some very exciting news to share......

We had a whole day without rain!!:banana: :laughing:I have tomorrow off so I hope the nice weather will stay.

Angie I didn't get to show my love for tie dye before and read 50 pages and had topost and support my tie dye girls!:thumbsup2
Thanks Patty, I was confused, as usual!

Are your kids barely done with school? Wow. When do they start up again? Mine have been out since June 7!
They go back Sept.4 which is actually early for us this year.

Why yes, yes it did!!!! It's all tie dye, all the time :hippie: Get your shirts ready now, Angie!!
I'm ready, I wear mine all the time at home!

Mine are a pretty, shiny purplish-fuschia... the best way to describe it! Pretty close to this:

I have heard of touring schools but that is a lot of schools! So what do you do when you are there?? My son is a Junior next year and I have not even thought of that. And I don't think he has either!

It is a really good idea to do it. Once you make the list, you contact each school (it is usually Admissions Office or I googled campus tours for the school name) and sign up for what they call the Campus Tour and/or Information session. The information session is gives you info on the college and its projected cost. It also gave us a feeling of the school itself. The tour is usually lead by a current student and they walk you around campus and show you some of the highlights as well as answer any questions.

I did not realize how much we would get out of it until we did it. 2 great examples - based on reputation, both myself and my DS thought he would really like UCSD. But when we toured the campus, we were not impressed. There is a vibe to each school and this one did not fit his personality but SDSU really did. The other example is Claremont McKenna which is a really small private school that my friend and her son really wanted to see. Both me & DS thought he would not be interested but the tour blew us away - he is definitely applying!

We are doing a lot of schools and I am encouraging him to apply to quite a few. I want him to have choices and not just have to go to the one that accepts him. It was actually quite fun (although tiring) and it was nice to be talking to him about what he wants to do in the future. Like most HS kids, he doesn't really know but this whole process has started him thinking.

Most people do the tours between their Junior and Senior year but we have some friends that are doing it so we tagged along.

Hello!
2rqg4nd.jpg

I just got back from an afternoon at Disneyland.

Surprisingly, it was not that crowded. Sure it was busy but I walked onto buzz and was able to get a FP for Star Tours. I also got a FP for BTMRR, which allowed me to ride within an hour of actually getting the FP. HM was a 5 - 10 minute wait and I did single rider for Indy.

The weather is perfect but it is a bit humid. I was very sticky afterward

I parked in DTD and took the monorail, didn't feel like fighting the people walking in DTD AND waiting at the turnstiles.
No line for Mandy the monorail either :goodvibes

I think I like it when major holidays are mid-week...

Happy Canada Day fellow Canadians!

Day 2 of rain, but I'm working all day so maybe tomorrow we'll get sunshine.

Hello everyone! Happy Canada Day to fellow Canadians!

I am a little behind on this thread. I've been visiting family and friends in Calgary since Thursday so not much time for the Dis for a few days. Going to watch the fireworks tonight hopefully, so looking forward to that, and also maybe some festivities downtown, so should be a fun day.

Hope everyone has been having a good weekend! :)

Also loving this new app from my iPad!!
