My life has not been the same for months but I decided to hop on the board and try to find my happy place. Hope you will all forgive me for being absent..... not in the heart though. Aw!! I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. It's very understandable why you haven't been around.

OK, I'll share with ya!! Just to warn you though..................we will have to cut the last beignet in half, so all is fair.

Callie my SIL was a doula for me for my last baby. She was great to have around. And since the last one, and all my babies were born natually, it was really great to have that extra support.

I'm telling you, I should have had my kids now, or in the 50s or 60s. The 70s and 80s were into the whole natural thing. Phooey!! I did it, and it hurt like you know what. And for what???? Just so I could say that I didn't have anything to help? Big deal! Oh wait.............they gave me Demoral............gee that helped. Anyways, anybody who wants the epidural...........do it!!! Believe me. if it was offered to me at the time............I would have begged for it.

I'm glad we'll get to see you and your growing baby belly! I love pregnant women -- did I ever tell y'all that I'm a doula? Well, I haven't been a practicing doula in years, but I did take the classes and did it for a while.

I feel like I'm growing everywhere except by belly . My belly is getting bigger, but she is growing more towards by back, hence all my back pain . But I'm learning to just deal with it.

I've heard there are also postpartum doulas. Now that's what I need .

Okay here goes. I've spent the past hour or so e-mail back and forth to my boss and have found out........that the trip to Vegas has been cancelled but another trip came up to Ohio (I don't have to go one, thankfully.) Having said that I still can't go on the trip because there will be 4 people out of the office that week and she can't authorize me leave. We have to have at least 1 person on duty and the person that week is going to be me. Ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just want to cry.

I'm sorry to hear that . Hopefully I'll get to see you in March even if it's only for a short time.

What are you talking about?? I had both of my kids in the mid to late 90's and I had them natural . I really don't know what I was thinking . I think since I've experienced the pleasure of natural birth twice already, I may go with an epidural with this one .

I'm not sure -- Chris and Lesley found them somewhere and got one for me and Mary Jo--they are so cute--they have different lighting --steady, flashing, etc. Even the lanyard lights up!

Gee......how could I forget that? My last one was born in 93. I remember that epidurals were just kind of coming back. I talked to the doc about it, and he starts to tell me all the things that might happen. Hum??? Ok....back to the natual stuff.

From what I understand, is that they have really improved the procedure.................

So go for the pain free I tell ya!!

Yeah I get out at 5 but I live about 3 hours away. My original plan was to take Thurs and Fri off. I would have taken the metrolink to Anaheim and spent Thursday and Friday night there and headed home on Saturday.

I hope you all enjoy the dinner and hope you all report w/ pics the fun that was had.

I had Adam in '94 and Noelle in '96. Natural wasn't even an option for me. Wasn't even going to consider it. I already knew I had no desire to be in any more pain then necessary.

Take the epidural. I was young and naive when I had DD and I did it natural. Made my family and my OB/GYN promise not to let me have drugs. No matter what. And then didn't. I changed my mind half way through, and they just kept reminding me that I made them promise. So I did the whole thing natural. UGH! I was so ready for drugs that I told them that if they didn't give me something that I was gonna go to the alley behind the hospital and find a crack or meth dealer. Luckily, it was a short labor. Brutal, but short. So in conclusion, if offered drugs, take em.

I had my DD8 when I was 38. My blood pressure was about 900/400 and I 'd been on bed rest for a week. (which I SUCK SUCK SUCK at, remember hper-type A, relaxing is a waste of time, AMy?). My ankles were about 20 inches around!!!! I went right to the epidural, I very moonily told the anesthesiologist that He should not think I was fickle, since I was obviously bearing another man's child, but that at that moment I really loved him!!!

When I made my birthing plan with my OB/Gyn, I suggested that if they wanted to try anything better than an epidural even if it was experimental..I was their gal!!!

I couldn't see the point of tons of pain. But, as in all things, results can vary. We all do what is right for ourselves!!

If I could have, I would have had my stunt double do the whole labor thing for me.
