Yes, my DH is a Land Development Manager for a home builder. And guess what, they aren't buying any land to build homes! So many of his co-workers have lost their jobs. He is holding on, hopefully for a long time.
Anyway, I think the whole housing meltdown fiasco has hit many of us. I try to remain optomistic, I mean who wants a Debbie Downer yapping at ya everyday???
Ahhh...the whole reason DH & I had to leave our home in MA for CA. We own an engineering and land surveying company in MA and with this horrific recession NO ONE is building in the Northeast. My DH started his engineering career upon grad from UCONN/Engineering with the
railroad. After 10 years of us moving and moving with the railroad all over the country...we decided to start our own business and lay down some roots for our boys in MA!!!
Well that was awesome for many many years but then 2005 hit and our work was down to basically weekend work....

THAT does NOT pay the bills.
In the meantime, CA called DH and offered him a fab position to expand RAIL throughout the state. Too many cars on the road, the natives want more rail. We never ever thought DH would be back to doing rail but this recession has brought all this about. CA said they have been looking and looking for rail design engineers and they are hard to find. So here we are!!
Our DS is still keeping our engineering co in MA afloat!!

Slowly but surely he is doing everything basically alone with DH telecommuting with him evenings via computer.
(Thankfully, both DS' are college grads and out on their own.)
Ok and now to CA........
I LOVE IT HERE!!!
The weather is absolutely fabulous in Southern Cali, fabulous. I have been here one month and DH flew out in May and the weather is the same every single day. Bright sun, never ever rains, no humidity, no bugs!!!
We are NOT leaving any time soon.
OH and the BEST PART OF ALL...........
DISNEYLAND is 15 minutes away from ME!!!!
To everyone else dealing with this economy...I sure hope it all ends soon. Hang in there the best you can.

I did notice gas prices are slowly going down. In MA, DS said he is paying $3.70 a gal which is awesome. He had to lock in at $4.65 a gal for his oil. Out here in Laguna, I just saw $4.09 a gal, AWESOME!!
Sorry, I have not posted much but with the move, life has been a tad bit hectic!!
OK, have a GOOD MONDAY, EVERYONE!!!
