Hi Stacie! I just got back last night (around 5). Yep, it's hot and sticky here for sure. YUCK! Back to hibernating I guess. Kids start school (homeschool enrichment program) tomorrow, and I start formal homeschooling on Monday! Eeek!

October is going to have to be kind of a play-it-by-ear thing for me. I don't know if I'll fly, drive, stay with my friend Michelle in Claremont, or what. . .

HEY! Does ANYONE do facebook? My dh just set me up an account, and my page looks pretty pathetic with no friends. :sad2: So if you have an account, give me a linky and I'll add you as a friend. OK? :flower3:

I'm on facebook, and I sent you a PM. I'd love to bulk up your page with our friendship!!!!

Guess who isn't at work today?

My maid! Because my house is still a mess.

Oh wait...... that's right. We don't have a maid. My kids only seem to think we do.

So in that case, my guess is you. Hope you're enjoying your time off. ;)

Hi all. Thought we should be back on the first page. I'm back in NY until Tuesday and then we're headed back to CA. Anyway I saw that Beth needs a count for the mini meet in Oct. I'm still not sure due to the unexpected financial expenses of the car. I'll post by the 16th either way (I think that was the date I saw).

Hope you all have a great weekend. Take care, talk to you all soon

Hello!
Just checking in from Lathrop, CA! (about 1.5 hours east of San Francisco).

I'm here with my cousins and I learned that they are going to Disneyland next weekend. I think I might join them but I'm not really sure if I want to spend the $40+ dollars (adding food, too). I think they'll probably go next Saturday because they are leaving Sunday to come back home (one of my cousins has school).

That's all for now, ttyl!:thumbsup2

Wow! Little ol' me, getting our thread on the first page again!

Well, remember (sure you do!) I signed up after mentioning to my husband, and he flippantly (I'm sure there is a trip report title in there! )said, "Sure, go ahead." So, I signed up. Well...I have failed to mention it to him again, but was discussing it with my girlfriend, and then she brought it up. So, he goes, "What?" And then it began. So, I faced my fear, and said yes, I am really going! Well, I think he gets it now. And I really feel like I am going!! Woohoo!! Now, I really need a roomy or two so that I don't have to feel super guilty. Any one else? I am 40ish, pretty quick in the bathroom, probably snore, and not an internet stalker. Just PM me if you are interested and also are not an internet stalker.

Hi, hope you're having fun with your cousins! If you go to DL with them just get a corn dog. Cheap and yummy. :thumbsup2

Yeah, but do you like Pina Coladas or getting caught in the rain?

:rotfl:

I'm glad you talked to him and it feels really real now!! Just wait until we can start making dining plans and booking tours, etc. Then it gets really fun!! :yay:

Happy Sunday everyone! I've been just relaxing most the weekend playing around on Facebook and watching the Olympics. Tomorrow I start school with the kiddos, so this is the end of my lazy summer. . .

I talked with my friend Michelle in Claremont, and she encouraged me to come out in October and leave my kids at her house. She wants to keep them for me while I go to DL for the mini meet! Very, very tempting. So, at this point, I'll ask Beth to add me to the list for Cafe Orleans on Friday. :yay:

The only thing I see preventing me from going is if we sell our house -- which at this point I realize will take an act of God. Stupid, stupid real estate market!!! :headache:

Hope y'all enjoy the rest of your weekend! And if anyone wants to find me on Facebook, just search under my name: Callie Sirak and add me as a friend. :flower3:

Hey Shelley! Have you heard from Ruth lately?

Sorry, I was slacking on reading the dis since I posted about the rain. Which really hasn't stopped by the way. I wish I could send some over to Beth.

I haven't IM'd with Ruth but she has posted on our "Island Board". I guess summer hours have slowed us all down for chatting.

I've played 2 lotteries and I've not won yet. Someone obviously doesn't want me to stimulate the North American economies. Silly people.

Catch you ladies later.

Hey Callie. I sent you a friend's request. AND I'm going to add you to the mini meet!!
That is so cool your friend offered to watch the kids so you could go. :goodvibes She sounds like a really nice person.

Oh, and I'm sorry things are sucky with the real estate market. It's such a bad time right now for a lot of people. :sad2:

;)

You are not kidding! I have 130 agents that I support (as the broker) and my agents are dying on the vine. Very tough times out here in the Seattle market too.

Yes, my DH is a Land Development Manager for a home builder. And guess what, they aren't buying any land to build homes! So many of his co-workers have lost their jobs. He is holding on, hopefully for a long time.

Anyway, I think the whole housing meltdown fiasco has hit many of us. I try to remain optomistic, I mean who wants a Debbie Downer yapping at ya everyday???:confused3

AMEN It is onward and upward here too. We fully expect that we are in recovery mode. I honestly can't really believe the crazy ride we were on for the last 10 years anyhow, and it makes sense that reality had to hit at some point. So, here's to future land development, new homes to sell, and existing home not languishing on the market.:goodvibes

And to no more foreclosures!! We hear about them all the time here. I do believe Las Vegas is one of the hardest hit areas in the U.S. for foreclosures. It's very sad. So no more of those either!!

ETA: I just now heard on the news there are 44 new foreclosures here every day. Also affected are the animals. The animal shelters are completely over run with dogs and cats because when people are losing their home, they often cannot take their pets with them.
Also a major construction project on the Strip was just put on hold for a year, meaning 800 construction workers were basically told don't come back to work.

So yes, let's hope things turn around and FAST!!!

Good Monday morning to everyone!!

Yes, times aren't the best right now. That's why we are moving. We are downsizing just in case my job is gone after I have the baby :headache: . My company is laying off sooo many people nationwide it's scary. I'd rather move now than with an infant.

Sorry I haven't been around in awhile. It seems like I never have free time anymore. I'm at work all day and then my daughter has horse lesson twice a week and my son has football practice everyday for the month of August for 3 hours every night :scared1: (who's idea was it for him to play football :rolleyes1 ). And somehow I got recruited to be the head team parent :scared: . I didn't realize how much work it was until I read the manual. I may have to resign  .

My sons team is actually very good. They made it to the semi-finals last year (which is in Vegas, so I may see you in November Beth ). But my son is trying sooo hard since he wants to make it to the finals at Disney World :rotfl:.

Oh and by the ways ladies, I had my ultrasound last Thursday and:

Ahhh...the whole reason DH & I had to leave our home in MA for CA. We own an engineering and land surveying company in MA and with this horrific recession NO ONE is building in the Northeast. My DH started his engineering career upon grad from UCONN/Engineering with the railroad. After 10 years of us moving and moving with the railroad all over the country...we decided to start our own business and lay down some roots for our boys in MA!!!

Well that was awesome for many many years but then 2005 hit and our work was down to basically weekend work.... THAT does NOT pay the bills.

In the meantime, CA called DH and offered him a fab position to expand RAIL throughout the state. Too many cars on the road, the natives want more rail. We never ever thought DH would be back to doing rail but this recession has brought all this about. CA said they have been looking and looking for rail design engineers and they are hard to find. So here we are!! :yay:

Our DS is still keeping our engineering co in MA afloat!! :woohoo: Slowly but surely he is doing everything basically alone with DH telecommuting with him evenings via computer. ::yes:: (Thankfully, both DS' are college grads and out on their own.)

Ok and now to CA........I LOVE IT HERE!!! :dance3:

The weather is absolutely fabulous in Southern Cali, fabulous. I have been here one month and DH flew out in May and the weather is the same every single day. Bright sun, never ever rains, no humidity, no bugs!!! :cool1:

We are NOT leaving any time soon.

OH and the BEST PART OF ALL...........DISNEYLAND is 15 minutes away from ME!!!! :yay: :dance3: :yay:

To everyone else dealing with this economy...I sure hope it all ends soon. Hang in there the best you can. I did notice gas prices are slowly going down. In MA, DS said he is paying $3.70 a gal which is awesome. He had to lock in at $4.65 a gal for his oil. Out here in Laguna, I just saw $4.09 a gal, AWESOME!! :thumbsup2

Sorry, I have not posted much but with the move, life has been a tad bit hectic!! :flower3:

OK, have a GOOD MONDAY, EVERYONE!!! :grouphug:
