I was wondering if any of you ladies know how I could apply to work for the Walt Disney Travel Company. I'm getting my B.S. in Entertainment and Tourism and I really LOVE LOVE LOVE vacation planning and researching new places. An example of my Disney/Travel love, I made a powerpoint presentation for my parents to show them info about WDW (leading to our first WDW trip 2006!).

Anyways, I was just wondering. I'd also be interested in working at Disney Resort here or in Florida. So I'm now wondering if I should continue getting my Bachelors is Entertainment & Tourism or if I should switch over to Hospitality.

Sorry it's :offtopic: but I know you ladies and I posted on the WDW forums but no response. Thanks!

You should check with Lulubelle (Linda)--I believe her daughter is in the college program sponsored by Disney.

It's great to be back with all you ladies over here. I mean, it's fun (and stressful) to plan a WDW trip, but I missed my friends that I've come to know over the last few years here on the Disneyland boards.
Good to have you back hanging out here!!

Hello all. Just a couple of quick minutes to catch up with you. Got my computer cord back, and now we have spyware attacking it, so I'm once again without a computer. I don't like it at all!
Ethan is going to be okay. He does have schouermann's, but's it's the lumbar, not thorasic, so no brace (at least not for now, and if he does the work he needs to do.) He will have physical therapy and continuing exercises, but I think we'll be avoiding the worst of it. I'm so very happy!
I'm still in need of some disney time, so if anyone with a premium wants to meet up with me, I'm all for it!! Anytime. Just let me know.
I'll be on more regularly once I can get my computer fixed!
Michelle
Sorry about the computer issues. But that is wonderful news about Ethan! PT isn't bad at all compared to having to wear the brace. I'm sure you were very relieved.

I have no clue but that sounds cool. Good luck!!

Cheryl, sounds like you had a GREAT day at DL. I'm glad the lines were low.

Hi everyone, hope you're having a good evening. :)

I have done NOTHING all day.
I woke up at 11:30am, made my sister breakfast and plopped myself down at the computer. I'm one lazy bum today but I'll be going to the gym tonight, I really want and need to today. It's good that I havent' even junky though:goodvibes

I'm keeping up with my math class though, I'm aiming to complete five sections of homework I'm already 2/5 done!

Cheryl, for your PP breakfast, how about "Dance Lessons", I think they take the kids up to learn the hula.

Capri, I'm so glad your DH is okay. I need new tires, and I keep putting it off. Your story convinced me, I'm going to get that taken care of.

Capri--how old were the tires on the car? Did you keep them? If they weren't too old I would definitely see about getting a refund or credit from where you originally bought them. Of course, thank God your husband didn't get hurt and the car wasn't damaged any more than it was.

As for me, I spent the day at Disneyland yesterday with my friends who are visiting from the United Arab Emirates and the 11-year old daughter of my other friends. We had a GREAT time--although it looked crowded, the lines were short--the longest was mid-afternoon at Roger Rabbit--about 30 minutes. (I didn't want to go on so I sat in the shade and waited for them--it was heavenly--Goofy and Minnie were running all over Toontown and it was fun to watch!) We met lots of characters and the girls got their autographs--Mickey, Donald, Pluto, Goofy, Cruella, Alice, the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts . . . we saw Chip and Dale but didn't get in their line. Most rides (HM, Pirates, Snow White, Pinocchio, Toad, Jungle Cruise) were walk-ons. We waited 20 minutes for Peter Pan--and this was at 8:15 am. of a Magic Morning (so DL opened at 7 a.m.). It was amazing! We had no trouble getting a lunch seating at Cafe Orleans at 12:00 or finding seating at Pizza Port at 6:00.

Never saw the Dream Team "dreaming"--saw a few walking around in non-dream mode. Only saw a few Dream Fastpasses. We were afraid it was going to be very hot, but ended up not so bad. Food was yummy--our only non-meal splurges were Dole Whips and one box of popcorn between us. Oh, and the girls got some candy at the end on Main Street. (Of course, Omar and I were always in search of the nearest coffee cart!)

We are going to the Orange County Fair tomorrow, and then Sunday, as a surprise for my friends' daughter we are doing the Lilo and Stitch breakfast at Paradise Pier. It's a game with us--last year I took them to see Wicked and gave her clues so she could guess (she did finally guess, as we were driving to the theater, that it had something to do with the Wizard of Oz). So, of course, this year she wants clues about her surprise too. So, I need help--so far my clues to her are "eggs" and "Hawaii". For those of you who have gone to the breakfast (and even if you haven't) can you think of other things for the next three days? I don't want to give too much away. I thought of "blue" (for Stitch). And drums? Don't they have drums there they use for th kids? Anyway, suggestions would be appreciated! She will be so excited--Stitch is her favorite character! They are probably leaving Sunday afternoon and I'm sure I'll be pooped!

Ok--so I guess I better get back to work. My house guests are at the beach today while I work . . .
Elvis!!!! :dancer:

helllllooooo out there!

Pretty quite out there in cyberspace tonight!
I ended up going to Chuck E. Cheese with my little sister. Today $14 = 1 hour playing. Then I came home and made my dog run to get all her energy out. She was in her crate while we were gone, she annoys the neighbor because she barks SO much and it's a baying bark so that's even more annoying.

I posted a resort poll here on the resorts page in the WDW, if you have had any experience with these hotels, your vote is greatly appreciated!

Good Saturday morning ladies!:woohoo:

Hope everyone has a super weekend. Anyone have any great plans? I think DH is going to go fishing tomorrow with my doofus brother.....whoopee.

toocherie - the tires were getting pretty old, although they had another 5,000 miles to go under warranty, so the manager of Les Schwab sent in a claim to the tire company for our car damage and new tires. He said we'll probably only get $30 per tire for our new tires, since the tires only had another 5,000 miles left under warranty, and the amount they pay is based on the remaining life of the tires. Not sure how much they'll decide to pay us for car damage, if anything. I think the claim said something around $1700, so we'll see. By the way, have a great weekend. It looks like you have some fun stuff planned.

So any weekend plans for you ladies?:cool1:

I'm going to John's Incredible Pizza Factory. I've been there before it's great. It's like a bigger & better Chuck E. Cheese.
If you ever want to check it out it's in Montclair, it's about 35 minutes from Disneyland.

But for now I'm trying to finish four more sections of math homework and a practice exam, my test is tomorrow morning!

Not a gosh darn thing. :rotfl: I've spent most of the day getting things done around the house and working with the twins on their summer workbooks. Other then that, it's boring city around here.

This place has been a ghost town lately though! I hope that means everyone is out having some fun. :cool1:

No, nothing fun happening here! My internet was mostly down all day so I haven't been able to Dis! :headache:

I've mostly been pouting and whining about the heat and the fact that we haven't had a single showing on our house. I emailed a realtor today. I'm getting serious now and I don't care if we end up paying the full 6%! I do realize that it will take a miracle to sell this house in this awful market.

Cabin fever has hit an all time high. This morning I had a super exciting time cleaning out my fridge! :woohoo: Oh yeah - FUN CITY! :faint:

Hope everyone else is having more fun than me!

Haha, sounds like both of you have had a day like me. I had a fun-filled day of vacuuming and watching the kids in the pool. Wheeeeee.

Callie, you're moving? Where to? (You probably mentioned this before to everyone, but I need to catch up.;) )

Closer to you! NW Washington State. Probably rent on Whidbey while my dh looks for property on the peninsula. He wants to build. Eeek! :scared1:

Not able to DIS?!?!?!?! :scared1: OMG, the horror..... :scared: No really. That's a scary thought considering there've been times this summer when that's the highlight of my day.

Oh, and I beat you. I cleaned out my fridge last week. ;)

I hope your house gets some lookers (and buyers) soon! I know the market is bad but I wonder if it's because of the heat too? I know in MI houses do not sell in the winter, too cold and no one wants to venture out house hunting. I bet it's the same theory but with the heat. :confused3

Hey, I vacuumed today too. :thumbsup2 But no pool here so oh well.

I want to take another vacation!! But since we just took one last month, at this point I'd have to rob a bank or win the lotto to be able to do that.

BTW, what's the story behind this:
Tiny Grand Californian DVC: since I won't have the opportunity to buy in, I'm happy to stay at a hotel on Harbor. Just saying......."d'oh!"

Well, we don't have a real pool. It's one of those soft-sided Intex pools, and ours is only 3 feet deep. But I still watch our boys in it like a hawk because, well.....I'm paranoid I guess, but I'd rather be safe.:thumbsup2

The tiny Grand Californian DVC story is this (are you sitting down for a long story):
Once upon a time, DH and I were interested in buying a DVC (Disney Vacation Club) contract, but we didn't want to buy into a DVC located all the way over in WDW, because we really don't plan on going to Florida enough to make the purchase worth it. So for the last few years we've patiently waited for Disney to finally build a DVC at Disneyland, our home park.

Then.....HOORAY, about a year and a half ago they announce building a DVC addition at the Grand Californian. We were soooooooo excited.:yay:

But then we found out that the addition would only include 50 2-bdrm equivalent units (50 studios + 50 one bedrooms = 50 2 bedroom units). In other words, the addition is just the itty-bittiest-little-thing. (Ahhhhhhh, how cute.):cutie:

Soon, when Disney starts to sell points for the Grand Californian DVC, the current DVC members get first crack at buying them (and we're not current DVC members). It's almost certain that all the points for the Grand Californian DVC will sell out to the current DVC members before any non-members (consisting mostly of people who live in the western states that frequent DL instead of WDW) get a chance to buy in. (Gee, I wonder why DVC sales have been so bad at Disneyland.......hmmmmmm, tough one. They're building a DVC timeshare here at DL, where us westerners go often, but they want us to buy a DVC timeshare all the way over in Florida?.?.):dance3:

I just thought it was kinda a crummy thing to do to us westerners/DL lovers/wanna-be-DVC-owners. It ticked me off, so I'm just making a little statement about it.....again.:stir: :goodvibes

Now DH and I are turned off by DVC and probably won't ever buy.:snooty:

Of course that's okay, because over the last few years, we've really come to love the HOJO, and for us, when we stay there it's like coming back to our Disneyland home. I'd buy points there if I could........you know, some way to lock in that Entertainment rate for the next 30 years. :cheer2:

Callie: That's awesome that you guys are moving up here. Washington is beautiful, and especially where you are planning to live! I'll be sending good sales vibes down to Arizona so you can get up here!

Capri, that sucks about the GCH DVC. I don't blame you for being turned off by the whole thing. I would be too. I don't get how the whole DVC thing really works anyway, so I would probably prefer the HoJo just because I don't have to think about it!! LOL Especially now with the new play area open.

Maybe we should talk to Lorealle about buying points there....:rolleyes1 :thumbsup2

Hey ladies, I thought you might like to see some pics of a cool car! My DH took them of a car he saw in the parking lot where he works. It's a Mickey car and it's so neat!

I didn't really know where to put the pics where they wouldn't get buried, so I put them on the last page of my TR:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=26200192#post26200192

You've got to see this car. :mickeyjum :smickey: ::MickeyMo

That is just the coolest car ever!!! And now that I've seen it, I'm incredibly curious about who in the heck is the owner?!!! :magnify:

(I don't get that weird Mickey on the gas cap though. It looks like he's having some kind of spazz attack......price of gas I guess.)

That's what I thought too. He was freaking out over the gas prices. I know I probably look like that everytime we have to fill up!! :lmao:

Morning ladies!! I woke up this morning at 5 a.m. and said no freakin way! I went back to bed and didn't wake up again until 11:30!! Can't remember the last time I did that!

Have a good day everyone!
