Christine I am sorry to hear about your sil. As you said at least he is getting some severance etc. Things are just tough all over. I know at my dh's job they have cut back quite a bit and he gets laid off for days at a time but we just are glad that he isn't one of the ones that has been laid off permanently. In fact we are looking into him changing careers permanently as well and it is really scary at this point in his life because I have a lot of medical issues and we have to think about my insurance and then he pays child support on two other children besides what we are now going to receive for the kids we have custody of so we have to make sure everything is correct with that before we just jump into something.

Plus we need to make sure that our retirement is taken care of etc. There is just a LOT to think about and in this economy it is scary to make ANY changes. My parents own their own business which is real estate and I am sure I don't have to tell you how THAT has been. Both of them are agents and I work for them so we ALL get our money from that industry and then my dh is construction which is ANOTHER hard hit industry. So I feel your pain.

I just hope it all works out for you. I think it is rough for just about everyone right now.

I don't think there is anyone that isn't feeling the pain right now. ((hugs)) and here's hoping he finds something else quickly and here's to hoping your move goes well!

Oh, Kelly I am so sorry you have to go through all this...your family must be feeling the crunch more than most. Breaks my heart when families must go through so much.

I understand the concern about medical issues - and how each day can be a challenge. I have MS and have not had health insurance for almost 6 yrs. But, others are in a far worse situation than I.

In a way, we're all in this together and can only support one another and pray things take a turn for the better very soon.

Hang in there..there just has to be a light at the end of the tunnel (better yet, a rainbow.)

We will have to move and AmEx is not paying for relocation this year, so where ever the move will be costly...putting the house up for sale...well, you all know how it is right now. DD, DSIl and I are trying to think of it as an adventure with an unknown silver lining.

Did you check out the DCL board here on the DIS? They used to have a whole thread with ideas on decorating your door.

I took some time and did some tweaking and fine tuning on the front page. There are now trip report links, in addition to slide show links, and links to all our other threads such as the exchange, WISH and October.
Also there is now the t-shirt info and link on there. So far everything we need is listed there. If anything is missing, just let me know.

Wow! Safe travels for her! My DD thinks she wants to go to Africa next summer. I may need to talk to you more about that. My DD hasn't given me any detaisl - just announced that she wants to go to Africa and help....

She did a study abroad semester through her school, is that what you DD wants to do? She got to help out in an orphanage while she was there.

DD has the SoCal pass so she is blacked out on Saturday so she and her friends will be there Thursday & Friday; I can go on Saturday as well since I have the Premium, and she will probably want to hang out at the college since she hasn't seen anyone in awhile.

Thank you thank you. We went to Petsmart last night and it took an HOUR because everyone in the store wanted to play with her. The salesclerk that I know there (because she keeps the one flavor of Fancy Feast my cats will eat in stock) kept following us around! Two British ladies were in there and they came up and said "You know this is the kind of dog the Queen has?" LOL and one scary looking guy--with tattoos, and piercings everywhere and all came up and just fell in love--he said "I've always wanted a Corgi . . . ."

so here is my cute story for the day--I have to go to a client's office on Tuesdays--so my assistant--Francine--was designated "doggy sitter" while I was gone. I dropped Bella off at the office, and by the time I got to the client's office Francine had emailed me, told me all was well, and that Bella was in her crate listening to the stereo in my office--a DISNEY CD!!!!!! And she loved it! Apparently she really liked the Jungle Book songs the best (how Francine knew that I don't know, but I'll take her word for it!) I thought that was so cute and it made me smile. She was just an angel all day--until she wet on the floor as we were leaving tonight! But pretty good for a little puppy like that, right? Now she's in her crate at home because I took her out a half hour ago and she didn't do her "business"--so we're going to try again in a little bit. According to Amy Sue this is what I am supposed to do. And I have "treats" if she "performs." (Ok--I could say something about some of you, but I won't.)

Afternoon all. I'm back! Wow it went REALLY well. I am SO excited. We got there and Shane was REALLY nervous but I told him he had NOTHING to worry about because of course WE did nothing wrong and after all WE were the ones that were petitioning the court and she was the one that was in the wrong here and if she tried to make anything up or whatever that we would be calm and collected and just tell the truth. I went over everything with him to remind him of how everything went down (ie how we all agreed to change our orig custody agreement 10 years ago verbally so that she only went for 3 weeks instead of the whole summer) and why she hasn't been in over a year because of the abuse by the mom etc., in case he got flustered. I usually am the one who does the talking in court as I used to be a parallegal and am usually the one who is calm and collected etc. But anyway we got in there and there were SEVERAL people on the docket and it took over a half hour before they got to us including one guy who got arrested on a bench warrent so that was rather exciting to watch. But then it was his turn and they just said you have custody, yes, mom has never paid, yes, she is an RN, yes, ok support ordered in your favor for 774 a month. WHAT!!!! I was shocked! I knew it would be a lot more than what Shane was counting on but that was a LOT. I told him it would be a lot but neither of us was expecting THAT much. She is NOT going to be happy at all but so be it. She has NO other dependants, makes more than Shane does and has NO visitation so there you go.

So as I told Shane I will be happy when I actually see a check but at least we have a judgment.

Anyway I gotta run get the girls but it went well!

So I'm getting my paperwork together for court tomorrow morning and I just added up what I have paid in tuition on my own since May of last year. I'm at $4500 now. That's just tuition and daycare......that doesn't include any of his medical, copays, every day necessities etc, just school. I just checked his arrears balance and he's finally over $6 grand. So I'm a thinkin' poor Daddy-O isn't going to fair too well in court tomorrow.

Now call me crazy...but if he actually paid his half, I would have been able to afford that Vegas Trip with you ladies!!!!!

Now on another note...Chris sent me this picture this morning of Ayden on the way to school. Now I don't know about any of you, but I certainly am not this happy on my way to work. LOL
