Girls Only Trip (old planning thread, see link to new one in 1st post)

It is nice to have a place to vent! The only other place I vent is on the phone with my mom and I'm sure she appreciates the break!




I'm done! Now all I have is 5 more weeks of summer school and its going to be rather intense.

Mon & Wed 9am-3pm for Image & Text (it's a class about how to appropriately use words with your photos and which fonts are best... its stupid if you ask me but hey, its the 3 credits I need and hopefully they get enough people to sign up *keeps fingers crossed*)

then Tues & Thurs w/ Flounder *ugg* from 9-4pm for a performance art class (this could get interesting ) Classes meet from May 13-18

then I have my going away/graduation/25th birthday party on the 20th and then leave to move westward on the 26th!

Bridgette, you're going to be right near me when you move to SB. I'm in Ventura/Oxnard. So maybe 30 minutes or less from Santa Barbara. I actually have a lot of family there and have been thinking about going to school at the city college.

Anyways, I'm on your way to DL! But if you ever need a Diva close by, I'm the one!! And CoMickey (Vicki!) is in Simi Valley which is not that far from me!

Mine will be coming home from Africa this Thursday, then we go to Disneyland next Thursday-Sunday for her birthday! Happy Birthday to yours, too!!

And I just checked and she took off from Uganda about 1 1/2 hours ago, so she's on her way!!!

Wow! Safe travels for her! My DD thinks she wants to go to Africa next summer. I may need to talk to you more about that. My DD hasn't given me any detaisl - just announced that she wants to go to Africa and help....

Hi everyone! I feel like I haven't been on here for a long time. I'm getting over my 'funk', and am feeling better. I go through moments of panic because I have a lot on my shoulders right now. It was nice knowing you all were cheering for me to get better, and all the pm's and facebook messages were nice.

Theresa, I can't wait to see a pic of your tie dye shirt, I think I'm going to order one from there also. I like those scoop neck shirts also.

Heather, I'm glad you're feeling better. I know it's hard sometimes, but we're here for you I will totally post a picture of the shirt when I get it. It should be on the way soon (she estimated May 5 - today - for shipping). No rushes, obviously

That is right...very close and I love SB and I have a hotel there!! I go as often as I can. I am a bit older then the two of you but I'm still fun. I'm happy to have found this thread and although I haven't met anyone personally I am thankful to have found some of you near by because I was going a bit stir crazy not knowing anyone but my DBF and his friends and family!

And Bridgette - My DBF has a really close friend who went to the school your are going to be going to so if you need any pointers/help I am sure he would be more than happy to assist! He has some amazing photography! He always goes above and beyond...you should see the cute Flat Stanley book he put together for my nephews class project...a real book! So cute and all I did was get Flat Stanley an Honorary Citizen button and took some pics of him at DL.

Afternoon all. I'm back! Wow it went REALLY well. I am SO excited. We got there and Shane was REALLY nervous but I told him he had NOTHING to worry about because of course WE did nothing wrong and after all WE were the ones that were petitioning the court and she was the one that was in the wrong here and if she tried to make anything up or whatever that we would be calm and collected and just tell the truth. I went over everything with him to remind him of how everything went down (ie how we all agreed to change our orig custody agreement 10 years ago verbally so that she only went for 3 weeks instead of the whole summer) and why she hasn't been in over a year because of the abuse by the mom etc., in case he got flustered. I usually am the one who does the talking in court as I used to be a parallegal and am usually the one who is calm and collected etc. But anyway we got in there and there were SEVERAL people on the docket and it took over a half hour before they got to us including one guy who got arrested on a bench warrent so that was rather exciting to watch. But then it was his turn and they just said you have custody, yes, mom has never paid, yes, she is an RN, yes, ok support ordered in your favor for 774 a month. WHAT!!!! I was shocked! I knew it would be a lot more than what Shane was counting on but that was a LOT. I told him it would be a lot but neither of us was expecting THAT much. She is NOT going to be happy at all but so be it. She has NO other dependants, makes more than Shane does and has NO visitation so there you go.

So as I told Shane I will be happy when I actually see a check but at least we have a judgment.

Anyway I gotta run get the girls but it went well!

Hope everyone is doing well. Sorry I've not been around much. Dsil found out his office is closing 6/1. All 100 people will be displaced. He does have good connections and VP's
have called him today saying they will watch their areas for manager openings and want to hire him instantly. With the economy and the corporate travel business, it is unlikely anything will open up before Fall. Fortunately, he will be pd thru 7/3 and then 44 weeks of full pay severance kicks in. Could be worse.

We will have to move and AmEx is not paying for relocation this year, so where ever the move will be costly...putting the house up for sale...well, you all know how it is right now. DD, DSIl and I are trying to think of it as an adventure with an unknown silver lining.

Off to check on the tye dye shirt!

Christine I am sorry to hear about your sil. As you said at least he is getting some severance etc. Things are just tough all over. I know at my dh's job they have cut back quite a bit and he gets laid off for days at a time but we just are glad that he isn't one of the ones that has been laid off permanently. In fact we are looking into him changing careers permanently as well and it is really scary at this point in his life because I have a lot of medical issues and we have to think about my insurance and then he pays child support on two other children besides what we are now going to receive for the kids we have custody of so we have to make sure everything is correct with that before we just jump into something.

Plus we need to make sure that our retirement is taken care of etc. There is just a LOT to think about and in this economy it is scary to make ANY changes. My parents own their own business which is real estate and I am sure I don't have to tell you how THAT has been. Both of them are agents and I work for them so we ALL get our money from that industry and then my dh is construction which is ANOTHER hard hit industry. So I feel your pain.

I just hope it all works out for you. I think it is rough for just about everyone right now.

I don't think there is anyone that isn't feeling the pain right now. ((hugs)) and here's hoping he finds something else quickly and here's to hoping your move goes well!
